At the conclusion of the First World War also known as the Great War of 1914 – 1918, the German State had been forced to sign a vast bout of treaties such as the one in Versailles that forced the Germans to take the blame for the initial start of the Great War. At the time the war had been blamed for the sub-sequential emergence of National Socialism, and the successive financial crises that destabilised the Weimar Republic because of the reparation clauses in one of the treaties. Although, Versailles had fragmented a significant part of the German State, it had left behind essential elements that allowed the German race to prosper and maintain its existence, unlike various other empires that dissolved because of the territorial clauses, leaving …show more content…
Although, from the reassessment of academic and historical scholars, it is said that the Versailles treaty was the best possible compromise under the stressful, extenuating circumstances, and the hospitable tension residing between the European Nations. If the Great Depression had not hit the European Nation, when it did, the process of social and political adaption could have occurred, or at least, furthered to the point that something good could have come from it and the tensions residing between all the nations could have been solved with time. It had been said that, having been robbed, the German State soon became the robbers to fight against their oppressors and defeat the failure that once resided over their heads because of the harsh treaties and such from before. The humiliation felt and the need for vengeance in the wake of Versailles drove the German populous into the arms of Hitler and the Nazis as the cost of reparation increased and the nation started to feel it. Versailles had been the harbinger of future warfare and start of a greater
Not even 20 years later WWII was beginning and although The Treaty Of Versailles alone did not cause WWII, many things in the document put a large amount of blame on Germany, ultimately not avoiding conflict, but creating it. The Treaty of Versailles contributed to the cause of World War I, the most important including; Germany's loss of valuable land and
Following the First World War, the Treaty of Versailles was ratified in 1919 with the goal of bringing a lasting peace in Europe between the Allied powers and Germany. However, its unpopular and one-sided declarations, combined with the harsh reparations imposed on the defeated nations, would ultimately lead to the outbreak of World War II less than two decades later. The treaty was a harsh punishment on Germany forcing them to set limits on their military capabilities and make reparation payments. The Treaty of Versailles did not adequately address the grievances of the German people, which ultimately led to a resurgence of nationalism, militarism, and resentment of the Allies, contributing to the outbreak of World War II. France, England,
The Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty that Great Britain, France, the United States, and Germany signed in hopes to end all war. However, the Treaty of Versailles did the opposite and caused WWII by angering Germany and making them pay war reparations. The treaty angered many germans by depriving them of their land. This is shown in Map of Germany in document A, Germany lost parts of Southern Germany, the Polish Corridor, East Prussia, and Northern parts near Denmark. World War 1 was one of the most inclusive and deadly wars in history. The war brought a series if new machines and techniques to warfare. World War 1 was known as the war to end all wars but, sadly it didn’t. The treaty of versailles was not a good plan to ensure peace and prosperity in Europe. The Treaty of Versailles was not a good plan for European peace because all parties that signed the treaty did not agree with it, Germany was forced to pay majority of the debt, and the economy in Europe plumited.
Negotiations, if done correctly, create peace among the sides. The Versailles Treaty was a sad excuse for a negotiation which resulted in even more conflict than ever before. Between the years of 1914 and 1918, powers such as Germany and Austria-Hungary engaged in war against France, England, Russia, and the United States (Hook). This resulted in the fatality of 17 million military officials and civilians throughout the warfare (Hook). Once the bloodshed concluded, leaders of the world met and planned to create a treaty to end all wars.

Max Goodman Dr. Hagler B Block 1/26/2023 The Treaty of Versailles was signed between the Allied powers of England, France, and the U.S. and the leading Central power, Germany, in 1919, officially ending World War 1. The Treaty of Versailles guaranteed that there would be a second World War because it placed the blame and cost of WW1 entirely on Germany, forcing them to pay extensive reparations, weaken its army, and give away lots of its territory. This resulted in vast economic destabilization, a weak government, and a weak military, all of which combined with the war guilt clause bred resentment for the allied powers throughout Germany. This caused Germans to become loyal to a nationalist party, led by a charismatic idealist who promised
Although the Treaty of Versailles was meant to end the war, the treaty caused more problems like, the treaty took some of Germany's land, tried to control germany's military, and set blame to just one country. All of these things that the treaty caused, helped cause World War II. The Treaty of Versailles took away some of Germany's land and this caused people of germany to get angry. We will never stop until we win back what we deserve.”
The First World War ended on November 11th, 1918 when the German government signed an armistice treaty with the Allied powers, leaving 9 million soldiers dead and 21 million wounded. This has lead World War I to be commonly known as the “war to end all wars”. There several key reasons as to why the Central Powers lost the war.
