Claudia Ibañez World History AP- E May 19, 2016 Meneilly What if Paper INTRODUCTION Germany was little sour over World War I. There was a lot of resentment with the Triple Alliance, because of the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty really maimed Germany, cutting off 15% of their European territory, and they were forced to pay heavy reparations for the war. On top of this, Germany’s military was severely reduced; about two-thirds was gone. Other countries of the world wanted to make sure Germany would not cause any more problems. Germany had to take responsibility for the Great War. However, while Germany was paying to rebuild the rest of the world, Germany fell into a depression itself. Luckily for the Germans, a man named Adolf Hitler …show more content…
The war was mostly on the other side of the world, and there was not much benefit in joining the other side. However, Japan was angered with the United States for various reasons. Some say that they were mad because of a ban made by President Roosevelt. This ban stopped all trade regarding oil, steel, and iron with the U.S. This was a complication for the Japanese economy. Another potential reason that they chose to bomb the United States is that Japan had been the biggest naval power only to the exception of the United States. Japan would have wanted to beat their competition and get the honor of being the best. They chose Pearl Harbor because their goal was to take a hit at the American foundation by ruining their military base. Their original target was the aircraft carriers, but most of them were not there that day, so they had to go with Plan B and continue the attack on the battleships. They attacked on December 7, 1941 and they destroyed 18 ships as well as 300 aircrafts. One of the main reasons that this was successful was because of the element of surprise. The Americans were not expecting this at all. They won the battle, but not the war. This event infuriated Americans, and eventually was the trigger that caused the United States to join World War …show more content…
This could potentially be someone like France, Poland and Great Britain. This would probably be really devastating because a lot of people would be affected, especially if the bomb was dropped in Europe. Many, many people would have died because of the radiation. It wasn’t too bad for those around Japan because it is on an island. Therefore, it didn’t get very far because it is isolated. However, if the bomb was in Europe, the land is not isolated, and numerous people that weren’t meant to be involved would
People were extremely confused and upset about the war, many did not understand why Germany was to blame. When Hitler started to rise in power, he promised that he would provide people with food and jobs, put an end to war reparations, and restore Germany to its former glory (Smith). Evidently, the immediate response was total
The ever increasing penalties of consequence for Germany greatly increased their anger and their cause to restore their pride. Before the start of World War One Germany already had a great military size and a booming economy to back it up, resulting in Germany being the number one power in Europe at the time. The people’s pride in their nation grew at a ever steading rate, however there was a dark side. Germany also wanted to show the rest of Europe what they could do. Seeing a great opportunity with Austria-Hungary and Serbia along with Russia backing Serbia up went to at war each other, Germany lept for it, eager for blood.
An American bomber dropped the world’s first nuclear bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The bombing wiped out almost 90 percent of the city and killed more than 80,000 people and leaving 10,000 more in severe injuries from radiation exposure. Three days later, a second bomb dropped on Nagasaki, killing an over 40,000 people. Japan’s Emperor Hirohito had nothing else to defeat united states so than he announced to Japan to surrender
[Doc 1]. This responsibility forced Germany into massive debt, as they had to pay large sums of money while their economy was still in ruins from the war. This plight initially led to the weakened economy described
A second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki three days later. This bomb was called "Fat Man". The atomic bombs are said to have killed 70,000 people instantly and around 100,000 more people died from radiation sickness and burns. (ushistory.org)
In addition to the bomb affecting their homes and cities, it affected their physical self as well. Document 9 states, “The three main types of physical effects associated with a nuclear explosion are : blast and shock, thermal radiation, and nuclear radiation; each have the potentiality for causing death and injury to exposed persons … among them, apart from genetic effects, are the formation of cataracts, life shortening, and leukemia.” Many life threatening situations can happen to a person if in contact with a nuclear bomb. Which shows how deadly a nuclear bomb is and how it should not be
While the United States were pushing into Japan, an estimated 1 million people would have died trying to fight each other. The Atomic Bombs only killed around 200,000 people. Saving around 800,000 people. Dropping the Atomic Bombs also helped
American Citizens wanted justice for the horror that happened the night of the attack. Many wanted Japanese to pay for the crimes they committed and FDR wanted that very much as well. He wanted to do a bombing raid on Japanese soil because japan would least expect it. So, the war went on with the goal to punish japan for what they did. The united states were not standing on the sidelines anymore, The goal was to get to Japanese territory and force them to surrender, but in order to get their territory American had to get through the Pacific Ocean which was heavily guarded by Japanese
Japan wanted to expand more and keep on attacking more people, while the U.S. had a different view on expansionism. The U.S. did not support Japan in their expanding, leading to Japan fearing of losing strength and power. These are the reasons that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th,
What did the other countries do to either fight or help Germany? What caused Germany to lose the war? Why did Hitler decide to invade Europe? After losing World War 1, Germany was doing very bad. No one had money because of the war, everyone walked along the streets with dirt on their faces and holes in their shirts.
With the failure of WWI, the Germans needed to do something to turn their country around. Germans wanted to overthrow their Kaiser as they believed that he was to blame for these treacherous events. The Kaiser was to be replaced with multiple workers. This idea was not the Germans but the Russians as they had already carried out this process. (-- removed HTML --) Germany’s economy was suffering and Germans were struggling through brutal fuel and food shortages.
After World War I ended, there was a peace treaty signed but Germany lost a lot of land and territory. England and France made Germany pay for the damages from the war. While this was happening Germany was broke and the people were starving. In the time in need for order Hitler rose to power because he had solutions to problems, they may have not been good, but they were solutions. The Nazi party started gaining power in Germany and
They longed for a sense of worth in their country again. When Hitler came into power he brought forth a sense of pride and power. Germany was ready to take back what was theirs. What ended one war, began another. The Treaty of Versailles was the main cause of World War II due to the restrictions it put on Germany.
On August 6 of 1945, in Hiroshima, Japan, a five ton bomb was dropped by the American bomber Enola Gay. This bomb destroyed four square miles and kill around 80,000 people immediately. Furthermore, three days later, another bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki which killed 40,000 more people. On August 15, six days after the second bomb, Japan announced its surrender to the Allies which meant the end of the war. However, the dead didn’t stop there, over the next years massive amounts of people died due to the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness and malnutrition.
Germany after World War 1 would never be the same. Germany lost World War and resulted in their country beginning to fall apart mostly impacting the economy. Germany was angry and embarrassed having lost the war but what impacted them the most was the terms of the Treaty of Versailles that destroyed Germany’s economy. The Treaty of Versailles imposed reparations from the war leaving Germany with huge debts. “The situation was made worse by economic problems created by crippling war debts, the burden of having to pay reparations, and high unemployment.”
