The great sport of cross country start as a sport not very long ago. That means in order to compete in the sport meant you had to be mentally fit with many qualities and expectations. The sport was once an olympic sport but was declined for many years. Cross country is growing and many more people are participating in the sport. It is completed in high school where many students compete.
Furthermore, cross country became an olympic sport from 1912 to 1924 but was dropped because it was considered unsuitable for many people. The sport was competed at the high school level. The points are arranged so that first place is awarded one point, second place is awarded two points, etc. That means the whole team has to do good in order to score well.
This years cross country went off pretty well if you ask Harrisburg cross country runner Alexander Auch, If you ask him he will tell you that his favorite part of the season was watching his teammates improve and grow as a better runner and placing top 10 in just about every race and getting first in Brookings with a time of 16:40.66 and getting second as a team. Alex isn 't sure yet what he will do running wise after High School but he says if he get the opportunity to run in college he will take it and run with it.
