Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, "Has the iPod made us anti-social?" by Tom de Castella from BBC news, "Technology: Is it making kids anti-social?" by Morgan Hampton from The Daily Universe, and "Technology's Benefits and Possibilities" by Word Press all explain how technology affects humans either in a negative or positive way.

In the book Fahrenheit 451 the author Ray Bradbury states that he believes what he writes about in the book will start to happen in the future. I believe there are similarities and that the book is close to being similar to todays society is. that would involve being technology obsessed and letting that interfere with everyday life, Seeing false information and having it cause panic or be meant to disrupt how you think, and Being depressed has become more common over the decades. Reffering back to the book there are many cases where technology has gotten in the way of relationships or moments where communication isnt there. Montag wanted to get Mildred to go look for Clariss and she was so focused on the television she didn't get up.

The National Science Foundation has predicted the future when they said, “technology will have transformed American home, business, manufacturing, school, family and political life.” The report ' 'Teletext and Videotex in the United States, ' ' cites that teletext and videotext will blow everyone’s minds just like vehicles and televisions did. The results of this can be positive to open the doors for a variety of family activities, hobbies, and legacies. Yet the rise of technology, and especially videotext, can result in negativity, because it is most likely the privacy will decrease further. This goes beyond family life, as political and economic issues can be held at risk.

Technology is a substance used to advance our daily life. It’s impacted our society in many ways because of the technological advancements it provides. Throughout time it has grown to be a very controversial topic because a variety of people believe it’s vigorous and others don’t. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a story based on the life of a person in the future, who lives in a dystopian community where everyone is the same. Along with this, a short story named "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury also contains a family in a dystopian community where technology was expected to easen and advance their lives.

In our society in this generation, smartphones and advanced technology are becoming more relevant every day. Because of this outbreak, we question if the use of tablets, video games, and smartphones are affecting us in a negative way. Some say it's benefiting our future, whereas others think technology is ruining the minds of the youth. Science fiction novels and movies predict a dark future if we continue down the path we are on. Ray Bradbury even predicted such a dreaded future many decades ago in Fahrenheit 451.

From TV to the internet, entertainment has taken our minds away from the world of critical thinking and learning. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the dystopian society that Montag, the protagonist, lives in, is brainwashed to think that parlor walls and seashell radios are the only ways to achieve sensation. Books today are highly valued and take our minds into deep thought and thinking; in Montag’s society books are “harmful” to the human mind and their government state that books contradict themselves. As humanity, we always admire how far we come from our primitive ancestors and we see these changes in different perspectives. Some are good, such as the capability of using clean energy and the amount of peace that is within the world, and some are bad like innovations in weapons to kill large amounts of the opposing side, but there is one specific creation of man that society prefers to reflect on. This creation is like a diluted mirror, it shows us our greatest accomplishments and all the spectacular task it does for us, but it doesn’t show us what it leaves behind in its wake. It doesn’t show how it makes us into hollow shells that no longer contain the fire of humanity. This terrible innovation has quenched the fire that makes us human by quelling the kindle of knowledge and the igniting power of thought.

What has technology done to society Technology is always a thought of good think but it's not imperative or necessary. Reading and thinking is so important in culture, books are a powerful source of knowledge. Getting rid of books is destroying culture. Bradbury tells the audience that an anti-utopia which people are so tied up in technology because they refuse to think and learn.

Have you ever thought about the negative effects of technology on our society? Although technology has done good for society in many ways, it has also had some negative effects on society due to the creation of false realities, the decline of an individual’s own knowledge, and the deterioration of human interaction. Till this very day the government has been a manipulator using technology as a widespread brainwashing tool on citizens. The government always has absolute agenda of misleading the public on a certain perspective. Look at the use of propaganda during both world wars.

The constant use of the device, can make a person feel as if they're nothing without the electronic device. In "Isolated by the Internet," Clifford Stoll states that the social ties online are not as strong as the relationships made face to face. He points out that often times people use the internet as an escape button from real life, "Where once people... would have worked within the real world and slowly learned how to deal with people, today they are able to turn to the Internet for solace and escape." When people connect with a lot of people online, they believe that instantly they become better at communicating with people. If you were to take away the electronic device from them, they wouldn't feel the same.

Nothing says “human nature” like love and individuality. Part of what makes humans unique is our species’ ability to show compassion and caring for our peers and surroundings. Many people, particularly older generations, believe that the overuse of social technology has ruined the appreciation that younger generations have for the world around them. In Ray Bradbury’s stories, “The Pedestrian” and “The Veldt”, he gives examples of how technology could ruin our affiliations to what would be considered human characteristics. Within the book Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury there are many similarities between technology, the way society reacts when being offended, and people being reckless with their lives is how our society is now and how society is portrayed in the book. Technology plays a major role in people's lives not just in the book. In Fahrenheit 451 people spend their time watching the parlor walls or listening to seashell radio’s at least that is how Montag’s wife, Mildred spends all her time. With all the time spent watching the parlor walls Mildred no longer bothers communicating with anyone but her family within the walls. Montag is tired of trying to talk to Mildred when she is distracted “No matter when he came in, the walls were always talking to Mildred” (Bradbury 42).
