When the American Football League (AFL) was created in 1959, the Oakland Raiders were not part of the original teams. It was not until the team from Minneapolis went to the NFL did the AFL create a team in Oakland. The team became official in January 1960 (Oakland Raiders Team History, para.1). When the team first started they could not find a steady home field to play on.

Founded in 1920, the NFL is an independent association that now includes 32 distinctly owned professional football teams. With the teams, they each have their own name, logo, colors, and owns intellectual property. The 32 teams produce an annual season of football games that ultimately leads to the Super Bowl championship. All of the teams made their own arrangements for licensing their intellectual property and marketing trademark items. Baseball has been widely considered as "America's game" for quite a while now, but has changed dramatically from 1876.
