Teen violence is a big problem all across the world. It has corrupted the souls of many teens. I don’t know exactly why it has corrupted so many, but let’s just say according to TeenHelp.com 35,001 teens have been arrested for agravated assault just in America! If you don’t think that it’s a BIG problem, there is something really wrong with you. Teen violence is exactly what it sounds like: violence caused by teens. And teens don’t just channel that violence to other teens, teens have been attacking little kids, and even full grown adults! Teens have also been bullying everyone to. It is mainly teens who have experienced traumatizing events. For others, it is because they have never been told no in their life. (That last reason is from the outsiders) Another possible case is that the person that is performing the teen violence is insecure about themselves. “The Outsiders” is connected to teen violence in many different ways. Almost everyone in the book is a teen and they are all violent. First of all, the Greasers jump kids randomly. Have you ever heard the quote, "Nothing good ever comes of violence"? Well, that’s the basic idea of the conflict between the Socs and Greasers in the book The Outsiders by SE Hinton. The Socs live on the rich side of town, while the Greasers live on the more dangerous and poorer side of town. In the book The Outsiders by SE Hinton, the author’s message about violence is that nothing good comes from it.
Most of the characters in “The Outsiders” lack parental guidance which causes them to make different decisions. One thing most of the characters do is smoke cancer sticks (cigarettes) , and drink alcohol. They end up making inarticulate decisions and are not as successful as they could be. Also, the Greasers and the Socs get involved in fights and someone always ends up getting hurt. The characters are always watchful of getting jumped.
There is a number of reasons that range from simple to complex, on why teenagers join gangs, and we can help by finding solutions to their specific problem before they choose to join one. In The Outsiders, two different “groups” separate all the characters: the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs and Greasers don’t like each other because both groups are stereotyped and do not understand each other. The Socs are a group of wealthy teenagers living on the West side of town.

An important theme of the outsiders would be that life is not always fair and bad things happen to all kinds of people no matter how famous or rich you are, but no matter what happens you always have to move on and deal with it. In the book, The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, the Greasers have a lot of unfair things happen to them no matter how nice or respectful they act. Going through all the stuff the Greasers go through they have to mature more quickly and lose their innocence at a young age. For example, at the drive through when Cherry was taking to Ponyboy, she said, “No not innocent. You’ve seen too much to be innocent” (26).

The novel “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton depicts the theme of violence predominantly. This novel portrays how violence leaves physical and emotional scars. SE Hilton explores the effect of living in a place where a teenager can't even walk home by himself and where fear is the foremost emotion. Gang violence, shooting, stabbing, ignorance etc are examples of violence illustrated in the novel. I will explore the theme of violence through characters such as Johnny,Dally and Bob and analyse the emotional and physical damage caused by the violence in this novel.
In The Outsiders many kids didn’t have parents or have parents that are involved in their lives causing them to be reckless without anyone telling them to stop. Many teens in The Outsiders are doing whatever they want and aren't thinking of their health and others. Also they get into gang fights without thinking of the outcome. Lacking parental guidance causes the characters in The Outsiders to not care about their well-being. First of all the characters aren’t taking their breakfast as serious as they should.

Meghan Neal of Daily News puts it to awareness of how many students that could be. She said “nearly 1 in 6 high school students has seriously considered suicide, and 1 in 12 has attempted it.” This really puts it to perspective on how students feel about their lives after being bullied. This isn’t healthy. There are many people today who still believe that they should commit suicide because they are put so low in life.
