Suicidal Thoughts In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare uses the love shared between Romeo and Juliet to show how moving love is and how deeply it can affect us. The strong affection Romeo and Juliet have for one another was ultimately their undoing. When Romeo heard news of Juliet’s death, Romeo rushed to the apothecary and asked him, “Let me have A dram of poison... That the life-weary taker may fall dead.” (V. i.63-65).

Love can be deadly. Especially in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, where these two particular individuals can’t share a mutual loving relationship, because of the differences of their community and family. I believe the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet alike could have easily been avoided. If Romeo was not as impulsive and irrational in his actions, both he and Juliet would still have their desired happy ending.

Romeo and Juliet are two lovers that come from families that induce hatred and hostility towards each other. The feud eventually leads to death of family and friends, which results in banishment for the love struck Romeo. In Juliet's distress, pretends to be dead with the help of Friar Lawrence. Romeo's belief that his love has perished, decides to suicide inevitably causing Juliet to do the same when she sees her dead partner after awakening.

Romeo and Juliet have fate against each other. Its said hat their love is “death marked.” Romeo and Juliet can’t control what going to happen as they go alone with this. For starters they’re in different groups, so they don’t know how their groups is going to react. It is their misfortune that leads to a terrible at the end.

In the end Romeo and Juliet did they actually have to kill themselves, their answer is yes they did. Romeo and Juliet caused their own death based on their actions. Because Romeo and Juliet did not communicate their love they had for eachother, they had to lie and keep secrets when confronted, thus leading to their demise. When Juliet and Romeo were faced with a conflict, they would act based upon their emotions rather than coming up with rational solutions that would benefit both parties. They were only thinking in the moment, and not of the future consequences. Unfortunately, their rash decisions led to tragic incidents and the deaths of friends, family, and themselves. This is what many die-hard romantics want to believe; however, the text represents Romeo’s love for Rosaline as a genuine one—at least on Romeo’s part. In the beginning of the play, Romeo lashes out at love’s cruelty as do many heartbroken individuals. In Act I Scene I, the depressed Romeo describes love as a deadly poison, a smoke, a swollen sea, a madness, and a choking gall. Each and every day, people make sacrifices for their loved ones. Maybe they choose to get up earlier in order to do chores or miss an important meeting so that they would have time for each other. There is no greater example of sacrifices for loved ones than in Romeo and Juliet however, where Shakespeare explores two star-crossed lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who come from two families that have a deep hatred towards each other. The pair meet each other, secretly wed, and then in order to stay together, commit suicide out of despair and distress. Through Romeo and Juliet’s acts of defiance and sacrifice, Shakespeare proves that while hate has the power to destroy and kill, love is even more powerful as it has the power to transform.
