Do you think US teachers should be armed with weapons?! There has been many shootings recently throughout the U.S and many students are getting killed because teachers aren’t armed or their not protected at all. U.S teachers should be armed because everytime time there's a shooting at least one student or more gets killed or injured really bad. Teachers also should be armed because if there was a shooting many teachers would be at least 70% protected because they are armed in case a shooter actually came to our school.Teachers should also be armed because at least 17 people have died after a 19-year-old ex-pupil opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and the teachers weren’t armed.
U.S teachers should be armed because everytime time there's a shooting at least one student or more gets killed or injured really bad. In recent years, teachers have also had to contend with a devastating reality: the increasing threat of school shootings. There has been many recent shootings that have been killing many students. In the article “Across the country, school districts are quietly arming teachers for the next shooting” its states that “While gun violence in the U.S. has significantly declined since the 1990s, mass public shootings

In the article “After another deadly school shooting, is it time for US teachers to carry guns?” it states that “But advocates say these kinds of reforms are the only meaningful way to protect schoolchildren. They point in particular to more rural schools, where an emergency response from police may take too long in the context of an active shooter incident. They also argue that gun-free zones are creating "soft targets". In other words , teachers being armed is the only meaningful way to keep students
According to Slate.com “there has been a total of 137 fatal shooting that killed 297 victims since 1980”. Just by reading the title you can tell that the author LZ Granderson has a strong opinion on this subject. He writes this article because during the time of the article texas governor Rick Perry tried passing a bill that would teacher to conceal and carry in schools to try and prevent school shootings. LZ Granderson is a writer for ESPN and has a weekly column for CNN that he writes about controversial topics such as teachers with guns. LZ Granderson wants to show his readers what is going on, as well as why things like the law are happening.
I personally feel that teachers should be armed; this is under the circumstance that there is an armed threat on campus, law enforcement is delayed in their arrival to assist, and the teacher is already on scene as the incident occurs, so as to prevent extensive or any damage before the intruder can deal any. Part Two You have to argue for the argument that you just read. Why is it correct?
I foresee both, advantages and disadvantages, about arming school staff members. I believe that this could be part of a solution for some smaller and rural school that cannot afford armed security or have limited access to law enforcement. I also believe that something is better than nothing because the sooner we can stop this event, the less citizens that are harmed. Law enforcement has focused heavily on advance training and preparing for these attacks since the Columbine incident in 1999. Over the past 19 years law enforcement continues to evaluate the tactics and mindset of the active shooters.
If we were to arm teachers, it would make it much more challenging for a school shooter to succeed in killing innocent children. Kasey Hansen is a special needs instructor, and she one among many teachers who conceal carry at school. “I never really thought about it before Sandy Hook,” Hansen said. “It just killed me. It’s something personal when you mess with students or children.
Should teachers be able to carry guns in schools? That’s a question that we’ve asked ourselves for many years now. Many think that having teachers with guns in schools is very dangerous and puts their child in harm's way. But many think that having a teacher with a weapon insures their child’s safety. Many of us know that anything can happen, no matter how safe things are or how hard we try to make them, anyone is capable of anything, especially gun violence.
Arming Teachers Is Not The Solution To Stop School Shootings It’s only been about 12 weeks in 2018 and there have been 17 school shootings where students and teachers were killed or injured. This basically means that there’s a shooting every week. Of shootings perpetrated by minors at primary and secondary schools and for which the source of the firearm was known, more than half of the kids obtained the gun at home likely because an adult did not store it locked and unloaded. In all, these incidents resulted in 59 deaths and 124 non-fatal gunshot injuries. Because of all these school shootings, there have been people saying that teachers should protect their students, but in teachers’ contract, they didn’t sign up to do that.
Teachers should not be armed in schools because the could not handle a real situation, and the liability is too much of a risk. To elaborate, it is widely agreed that a student’s well-being is a teacher’s concern. For six to eight hours every day for 5 days a week, the life of the student is in the teacher’s hands. However, a teacher has never been expected to arm themself to protect a student until now.
I believe that if at least one teacher from every school was allowed to have and use a firearm, then we would see little to no more school shootings. “Kids will be afraid!” This is one reason why some people believe that arming teachers would be a horrible idea. in the august chronicles, it states, “You have 12 unidentified armed teachers and you will have as safe school as could reasonably be expected. The teachers would have their weapons concealed and never shown to anyone unless needed” (Teachers should be armed).
Elementary school teachers should be licensed to carry firearms in the classroom due to the rising yearly school shooting instances. Classrooms are becoming less and less safe every year
Should teachers be allowed to possess guns during school hours? Teachers should be able to possess guns during school hours because the teacher could protect the students, be able to prevent school shootings, and neutralize other threats. ¨Adam could not handle his constant bullying anymore, he felt as if he would do anything to end his struggle. Adam dug into his backpack and felt the handle of the gun he took from his father's drawer that morning.
Why Should teachers be able to carry a gun. Reason #1 for teachers being able to carry a gun, protection of students. Imagine being a parent in this day and age were you have to worry about your child going to what was a safe environment in the parents age. What is now a risk for a mentally ill and damaged individual to kill as many innocent people as possible.
Over the past few weeks, arming teachers has been a controversial topic throughout the country. School shootings have taken the lives of many over the past few years, yet they are becoming more and more frequent. In today’s society children shouldn’t have to go to school worried if they are going to be safe that day. If teachers are armed it will add that extra bit of protection to the children. A big question is if arming teachers is even going to matter if an active shooter happens to be in that school.
Also, Teachers should carry handguns because it is their right. Steve Siebold an expert in the field of critical and mental toughness training reported to Every Teacher in America Should Have a Gun that, “But until that happens, critical thinking suggests that we all exercise our second amendment rights, arm our teachers and school officials to ensure the safety of our children, voice our support and keep a close eye on anti-gun crusaders who want to make our decisions for us”(Siebold). It is our right in the second amendment that we can have a weapon and we need to use that
Unlike professional shooters, teachers must undergo a series of training in order to obtain a gun. Without the proper protection and training, which was not included in the resolution, would guarantee that the weapons would fall under the wrong hands of the students. Everytown Research states, “Among shootings at K-12 schools in which the age of the shooter was known, 56 percent (39 of 70) were perpetrated by minors.” The resolution states that all teachers would be armed, but, if the teachers were to be armed, the teachers would traumatize the students mentally away from them. Hamby, a research professor in the department of education states, “ ...the links between exposure to weapons violence and negative outcomes of trauma in kids (including depression, anxiety and aggression).
Equipping teachers with guns, who are little more than civilians, is absurd. This would not help prevent the type of deadly mass shooting we 've been seeing lately. All that would do is increase the possibility of innocent people getting caught in the crossfire. Instead of training for how to use guns teachers should be taught self defense and how to use items around them as weapons. It would also help if every teacher learned self defense and not just a
