Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is the first live play I have ever attended. I did not know what to anticipate, especially after hearing numerous accidents occurred during rehearsals. I was a bit skeptical about it. However when the play began, the on-point accents, the rowdy fight scenes, and their fluent moves all caught my attention. The facial expressions the actors and actresses exhibited on their glowing faces made the show enjoyable. The play was very silly, but it also had its deeper moments. For example, when Gideon went to bring Adam back from the mountains. They had a tense moment, where Gideon stood up to Adam and punched him on the face— something no other brother would have done. The designs, lighting, sound, makeup, and music of the play are as crucial as the play itself. The people who put the production together work just as hard as those who make the play come to life. Without production elements, the play may not obtain the intended impact than with it. Each production element has its own objective as do the actors of the play. For Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the production element that caught my attention out of all other elements were the costumes. At first, I did not think much of it until I made the connection why that production element was made. Each brother had a certain color that pertained to them, which also pertained to the girl they would soon fall in love with. Adam wore red, which then matched Milly; Benjamin wore yellow, matching with Dorcas; Gideon wore green matching with Alice; Frank wore pink, which matched with Sarah; Daniel wore orange, matching with Liza; Caleb marries Ruth; and Ephraim, wore blue which matched with Martha.
