Going into my senior year of high school, I was forced to make some fairly large decisions about my future, as were most teens my age. Before making the decision to attend California University of Pennsylvania, I was looking into what career was best for me, and what I wanted to achieve in my educational career. This was a lengthy and difficult process, but in the end, it led me to the path I am traveling today as a student at California University of Pennsylvania. When it came to deciding what I wanted to major in, I was very unsure. One day, I wanted to be a Physical Therapist and the next I wanted to be a dentist. At first, I was nervous about the extra workload and how this could effect my grades, but looking back, applying for the honors program was one of the smartest things I could have done. The program offers many opportunities, such as conferences and traveling, to learn more about my major and much more. The honors program asks that we create a thesis in our senior year. I believe that this will be very beneficial in that it will make us well rounded in our subjects of study. It will prove to our peers and future employers that we are educated in our fields and prepared to start working in the real world. They also offered several social advantages, such as socials and gatherings, which made it easier to make friends when first entering college. The UHP has opened up several academic, social, and vocational advantages to its members. The future can be quite a scary concept. Knowing what you want to do for the rest of your life at the age of eighteen is a lot of pressure. Deciding to become an education major at California University of Pennsylvania was one of the best decisions I could have made. I am very excited to delve further into my major and become the best teacher I can be. I believe that, with the help of the honors program, I will be able to do this.
