Focus 2 Assignment – Reflection Upon completing the Focus 2 career assessment program, I am quite impressed at the quality of information it presents. It allowed me to not only look at careers that would fit my personality, but also those that take into consideration the fields I am already interested in. Also, as with any form of self-assessment, there were strengths and weaknesses that I did not expect based on how I feel I live my life currently. Beginning chronologically, the program had me complete two subjective, current measures of my professional career. Specifically, the Career Planning Readiness results were some I found a bit embarrassing, given I really have not done a lot to investigate the career I foresee as much as I should. I have concluded that it is a tricky balance to focus on school while also looking beyond consistently. As a result, I have noticed myself increasingly trying to find more information about physical therapy, but I know my best resource would be physical observations of their services. The Academic Strengths portion …show more content…
Rather than tying me to one side, like independent or social, it incorporated both in a very normal way, which was a relief to find. The summary suggested fields such as teaching, counseling, psychology, religion, health, and some arts. Fortunately, health was included, which I am interested in, so I decided to investigate their informational page on physical therapy to make some comparisons. I was pleased to find among a long list of skills, all three of mine were included, as well as two of my values. There was also an interest score graph, comparing strengths of my interests to those of a PT. Mine were very similar except for the ‘realistic’ category, which I attribute to being hands-on. While I tend to not be in general, I am when it comes to physical activity and wellness
The areas that I scored highest are the most important for my profession. Investigative shows that I am interested in researching and finding new ways to improve health and wellness. Being social is extremely important as a physician assistant. You have to work and communicate with many people throughout the day, so there is no room for antisocial behavior. Enterprising and conventional show that I am not afraid to be a leader or make tough decisions while paying close attention to details and following set procedures or rules.
Most assuring to me in my report was seeing mathematics as my highest interest and investigative as my predominant theme, as I feel that I am a strong student in math and a highly curious individual who likes to seek out facts. I was a bit unsatisfied with some of the other results. However, Miss Mindy told me to just use these assessment reports as a guide, as I am ultimately in control of what career path I decide to
While going into the program I knew healthcare was for me, but I was unsure of what field to purse. Amongst the variety of departments I worked in, the one that stood out the most was my time in the obstetrics and pediatric floor. After graduating from the Academy, my path was clear and I had a mind set on where I see myself in ten years. Becoming a pediatrician will allow me to reach my life long goals of helping others. As a pediatrician caring for young children, I will be able to impact the lives of not only the patients but their families as well.
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
Personal Statement for Kansas University Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program I chose Occupational Therapy as my career path for many reasons, first of which is my passion for the promotion of health and seeing others achieve their personal goals. Always passionate about health I knew pursuing a career path in medicine would be most rewarding. While searching the various health career pathways, occupational therapy was a field of study I come to be intrigued by. There is a continuous need for this as an occupation in the world, as many of us do not realize how important independence is, until the moment it is taken away from us or we witness firsthand.
Intro To Healthcare Career Exploration Paper. Kim. S. Orchard.
Professional Behaviors from the Second Placement This paper will provide examples of how the stated competencies of physical therapy were met or not met. All examples have been pulled from the time spent in the program and the five weeks spent on placement at Alberta Physical Therapy Clinic. The Roles and Competencies Accountability One of the most challenging points that is paced under accountability with this placement was the potential for a conflict of interest (1.3.6).
I am optimistic for my future and my education at Kaplan University is the foundation for my success. A career as a patient representative is very diverse. When I first decided this is the career path for me, I imagined
Career Exploration Paper There a lot of things I want in life and good career where I can help people is one of them. I feel as if the following jobs will allow me many opportunities to help many people in various settings. The first job I was interested in is being a dog trainer.
I have always wanted to be a surgeon since I was a kid. Doctors were treated like gods in my home country, Ethiopia. I was a shy little boy who dreamt big in my neighborhood and people would make fun of my goal due to the fact that there were no doctors in our neighborhood. They believed that I was not smart and strong enough to be a doctor. Besides my mother and aunt, nobody knew what I was capable of.
College is often regarded as a time of exploration, a time to discover interests and passions that ignite a desire to seek sagacity in a field that will alleviate the burdens of others and fulfill one’s self wholeheartedly. It is essential to me that my college career allows me to strive for educational excellence and moral enrichment simultaneously. Through the Pre-Physical Therapy track it will be my focus to obtain an education to help others as I have been helped in the past. Restoring movement and functionality to someone’s life is deeply connected to SPU’s vision, for the work that physical therapists do is equally as transformative for the therapist as it is to the patient. To ensure someone receives the treatment they need to carry out the life they want is paramount
I first learned about the career fair through a assignment I had to do for a class. We had to look up different types of information for the companies that were coming to the fair. Through this assignment I kind of got intimidated because the information that I was looking up was all new to me. My professors made the career fair seem scarier than it actually was. Many people were complaining about going to the career fair and were blowing it off.
I truly enjoyed and gain experienced while interviewing professionals Tatianna Hitchcock and Preston Pace III of the University of South Florida Athletics department. During the interview, I discovered various aspects of their daily lives that I can utilize to deal with the obstacle that may come in my path. Gathering answers from both professions and comparing them I notice that quite a few jobs and professions are very similar and have much in common. The first thing to do before applying for a job or career, is to ask yourself this question? “Do I enjoy doing what I signing up for”?
Scoring a fifteen in the life balance section of the profile solidified the idea that I am doing well at managing my time. As a person who loves a decent challenge, I always strive to push myself to take on more obligations even when it may seem my plate is already full. I thrive in an environment where I am being hard-pressed to achieve greatness. Having this pressure sometimes makes it difficult to separate my work life and home life, but that is something I have been working on as a personal goal. For the most part, I believe I set a suitable example for my employees to follow.
I am very excited at the opportunity to work for a company with operating assets in Gas, Power and Utilities. Due to my strong interest in pursuing a career opportunity with you, I have always been checking your website, and I came to know about the Engineering Program for New Graduates which is a very unique and challenging opportunity for people like me who love to be in the field and learn new things. Since I am convinced that my academic background, my experience working in the electric power industry, and my interest in the challenges outlined in your exceptional work will support my contribution to your honorable organization, I am formally applying for the Junior Operations Engineer position. Towards the end of my undergraduate degree, I decided to further my studies after gaining some work experience.
