College is often regarded as a time of exploration, a time to discover interests and passions that ignite a desire to seek sagacity in a field that will alleviate the burdens of others and fulfill one’s self wholeheartedly. It is essential to me that my college career allows me to strive for educational excellence and moral enrichment simultaneously. Through the Pre-Physical Therapy track it will be my focus to obtain an education to help others as I have been helped in the past. The confusion stems from a fear of the unknown or a hidden unwillingness. As a dancer there is a predisposition to look, behave, and internalize criticism in an abusive way. This skewed mentality is a fleeting connection to tradition that immobilizes the desire to look beyond the generational mindset. It was not until I had met a mentor that emphasized anatomical correctness and individual contentment that I was inspired to change my view on dance. When change and inspiration are intertwined, progress is expedited and personal growth materializes. This relationship motivates me to become an inspiration for others, because helping others heals your own wounds in the process.
Making positive connections and conveying inspiration to others is what has led me to Seattle Pacific University. After finding solace through physical therapy myself, I hope to earn the credentials that will allow me help others find emotional and mental security through physical stability. Most individuals have a defining moment in their lives, where they know where their life is headed. Pursuing a degree, as a physician assistant for me did not happen in a single moment but a collection of moments. My mother’s battle with heart disease, a father collapsing on the ground unresponsive, watching first hand the initial incision of an ACL reconstruction to the head of an academic program suggesting a masters in physician assistant. An accumulation of these moments has driven me to unite my interests to accomplish and contribute more to healthcare. Throughout my physical therapy assistant program, I excelled but not due to pure intelligence.
I desire my future to be successful. I will learn more about myself and what I need by completing these surveys. Looking at the broad view in life makes the most sense because having an outline for the future is the path to triumph. I am a good candidate for the Reisher Scholarship because I am hard working and self motivated. The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. This scholarship would help me substantially because my mom is a single parent with two kids in college. With this scholarship money I will be able to become more successful and reach my goals in life. By 2026 physical therapy jobs are said to be increased by 25% (“10 Interesting Physical Therapy Facts & Statistics,” 28 Dec. 2017). Physical therapists are doctors that help people who have pain during movement or have lost some range of motion. They help those patients regain their abilities or manage their pain (Bellamy). This is a great career to go into. There are many aspects that go into being a physical therapist like degrees, advancement opportunities, day to day responsibilities, and much more.
The ability to create and recreate is a cognitive function which helps in solving the question of learning. Mental images play a major role in determining how dance is composed and conceived by the choreographer, the dancer and ultimately the audience, for whom the art work is being created. What readily drives a choreographer in creating dance movements can easily be at least one of the following factors: the need to fulfill a function with the dance, to embellish an opera, a response to an outside stimuli, the need to work with a particular dancer or the need to move to the structure of movement suggested by a piece of music. Ultimately, there is a craving to be satisfied. Mason opines that “the processes of dance making have been likened to an irrepressible ‘evolutionary urge’ ”
As a professional, one must adhere to the guiding principles defined by the professional association. Scope of Practice outlines the “notions of professional conduct, accountability and self- governance and expanded practice”. Scope of Practice summarizes “the range of roles and activities an individual registrant or licensee is permitted to undertake in the course of professional practice. These roles and activities are largely determined by professional education and practice competence along with factors in the practice context, such as demands on practitioners’ services and available resources” (Fealy 2005). Scope of Practice is based upon the “profession 's unique body of knowledge, supported by educational preparation, a body of evidence, and existing or emerging practice frameworks” (American Physical Therapy Association, 2015).
Giving kids and young adults the space to become them selves with no rules, no judging from others, and no expectation of right and wrong is an extremely rich opportunity for them to discover or rediscover their identity. In dance classes, or at least the ones that focus mostly on developing the creative side of dance, students have the chance to express freely and be themselves for a short time. In the book Dance Education Around the World, Isto Turpeinen (Svendler & Burridge, 2015) describes his experience with chaos in his dance classes as moment for dialog, “In my classes, I use a working style where I see the dance studio as a forum. Children have a space for action.
