Lily “Schindler’s list” directed by Steven Spielberg is one of the most powerful movies of all time. It presents the indelible true story of Oskar Schindler, a dynamic character who becomes an unlikely saviour of more than 1100 Jews. At the start, Schindler appears to be a German businessman who becomes interested in exploiting warfare. He uses the war to his gain by exploiting cheap Jewish labour to run his enamelware factory in Poland during WW2 with dreams of earning “steamer trunks” full of money. However, after he realizes that it is up to him to save hundreds of people working in his factory, he and his accountant, Stern, made a list of up to 1,100 Jewish worker names to protect them from Nazi brutality and relocates them to Czechoslovakia Therefore, Schindler was very influential during the Holocaust.

The disorganization for admission, verbal abuse from the Polish and harsh treatment of the people depicts the real circumstances faced by the Jews of the time. During the scene of the Kraków ghetto evacuation, Schindler views the appalling methods used by the Nazis to send them to the Plaszów labor camp.

Oskar Schindler is depicted in one of the scenes where he is on top of a hill looking down upon the divided Podgorze Ghettos and is watching its liquidation while sitting on horseback with his girlfriend next to him. However, history tells a different story for where they should be during the time period; well it actually just challenges the lack of proof that Oskar and his girlfriend could have been on the hill watching the liquidation but their presence was highly unlikely. (Crowe) Another example of the failure to include scenes that occurred in real life could be witnessed when Oskar Schindler is scrambling to produce names for Itzhak Stern to type into the list. This was a major scene to have in this film because the name of it was and still is “Schindler’s List,” this gave the idea that Oskar Schindler put together this list but in fact that would have been impossible. During the time that the list was being composed Oskar Schindler was under arrest for the bribing of SS guards and commanders, such as Amon Goth and for the “unauthorized aid of Jews.”
A labor of love drawn from events of unspeakable hate, Schindler's List is a masterwork in which Spielberg has met and surmounted the transcendent difficulties of making a viable Holocaust film. Moviegoers may be drawn to
