When Rainsford hears Zaroff say this, he realizes that Zaroff is a man hunter. So, Zaroff gave Rainsford a head start into the forest and then he would go hunt him. Rainsford had many challenges ahead of him, the top challenge he wanted to achieve was to stay alive, the next one was to survive in the forest. Day after day Zaroff was getting closer and closer to Rainsford, but Rainsford had a plan, he would build a trap to capture/kill Zaroff. Whenever one of the traps failed, his new challenge was to make a trap and hope that Zaroff would take the bait.

After this, the hunt still continues with Rainsford still trying to gain the power. “Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea…” (Connell 17).

Rainsford is shown to be intelligent in the story when he designes a trap for Zaroff. In the story he says “not many men know how to make a Malay man-catcher” (Connell 77).

As the thoughts continue, the nights pass by. The final chase leaves us to wonder who makes it out as prey and hunter. Hey there today we are telling a story that is called The Most Dangerous Game. It is a very good story to read and twisted. There are two main character in this story and they both have very interesting stories about their life, but they will fight for victory and one will die and who will it be the good guy Rainsford, or the villain Zaroff. General Zaroff is chasing them through the jungle, He sees something in the cave he shoots his arrow and then…... General Zaroff is a very sick and twisted man who likes to kill people for fun.

In the short story The Most Dangerous Game, the author Richard Connell shows that Rainsford needs control of his emotions, patience , and expert hunting and decision making skills in order to defeat Zaroff. Rainsford needs to gain control of his emotions to outthink Zaroff, who symbolizes Rainsfords "steep hill". When he finds that he is going to be hunted his natural instinct is to run and panic, but then he stops to look around and get a grip on the task at hand. Then at a critical moment when Zaroff finds him in a tree, Rainsford panics again because he realizes Zaroff is on his trail and is toying with him. Once again, he gains control of his emotions and formulates a plan.

Throughout this journal, Zaroff can be characterized as confident and wacky. First, he can be considered as a confident man. In addition, the introduction of himself to Rainsford can be a detail by his speaking tone. Also, how he collaborates with Rainsford such as shake hands is a detail too.
