Religion was more powerful than the government in the time period 1000-1500 AD / CE because everything revolved around the church. From the people's income to the people who rule your country was based on if the church supports them. The Catholic Church was the only church in Europe in the early middle ages. The Catholic Church is the largest Christian Church ever and has baptized over 1.3 billion people. The size, power, and wealth of The Church caused major corruption in the time period 1000-1500 AD / CE. The Catholic Church had its own laws and government-type system. Church leaders such as Bishops and Archbishops were on the king’s council and played very important leading roles in the government. Trading ranged from salt to slaves. Long-distance trading on the Silk Roads was mainly done on camels, dromedaries, horses. There were tolls you would have to pay so you could continue on your path. Tithes were sometimes levied on tolls taken from ships and goods entering or leaving a port. They could be given as fiefs or transferred in perpetuity in such circumstances. A lot of the tolls are like the tolls we have when you are on the highway. Peasants who worked on the trade routes would very often be sent out by the church to convert people to their
The trade route helped not only get products from one place to another, but help spread religion, culture, and disease. The Silk Road had started out as a small merchant route for trade and slowly grew into something bigger. Products were carried in large camel caravans that traveled through the harsh and devastated steppes, deserts, and oases of Central Asia. Later on, products were carried on boats and had a negative result of spreading disease. Diseases were unfamiliar and had little to no immunity.
The church had a lot of power they were involved in almost all government affairs and international affairs before the French Revolution. When the pope signed the concordat it was his way of showing that he agreed with Napoleon and that they would follow him as well and because the majority of the population was Christian this was a huge push for them to start following him as well. That same year Napoleon, as elected, was the year he made the Napoleonic code, that states that all men are equal, the right to vote and it got rid of class privileges as well as privilege based on birth. “The Roman Catholic Church traces its history to Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Over centuries, it developed a highly organizational structure headed by the papacy, the oldest continuing monarchy in the world.” This shows that catholicism and god have been around for a long time and hold a lot on the world. The Catholic Church has profoundly influenced Western
On top of this, scholars were not the only ones with ideas regarding religious reform; laypeople began relying on individual relationships with God and mystical experiences rather than looking to the church for guidance. The Great Schism did not contribute to the decline of the Middle Ages because it destroyed religion but because it influenced people to explore new religious practices and move away from the broken state the Church was in. The exploration of different ideas led to the beginning of a new, more modern time period and the end of the Middle Ages. The Catholic Church was so important to the Middle Ages because it influenced numerous aspects of European life, having the ability to make and unmake kings, isolate through excommunication, and even execute.
These trade routes facilitated the exchange of goods, ideas, and cultures across many different regions of the world, and helped to establish a new era of global commerce.
The religions traded back and forth along the Silk Road went through many changes. For example, Christianity and Buddhism became much more materialistic religions because of the goods available to them. Additionally, Christians began to infuse Roman and Greek thoughts into their religion. This was due to the fact that many different and unique ideas were spread throughout different civilizations along the Silk Road. While the religions themselves were changing, the process of them being spread stayed constant.
Trade routes known as the Silk Roads, or the Silk Routes were the main gates through which goods and resources were
The major religions of Christianity and Buddhism were dramatically changed with the development of the Silk Road during the time period of 200 CE and 1500 CE. Both of these religions became more acquisitive, as they started to adapt some ideas that traveled along the Silk Road. Christianity started to adapt and incorporate some of those ideas. Christians became to assimilate the thoughts of the Romans and the philosophy the Greeks and use those concepts into their own religion as them traveled
The silk roads also included sea routes which maintained maritime trade and commerce. Sea lanes passed through the Arabian Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Red Sea. Many manufactured products became the objects of trade during the silk road trading. Silk and spices traveled west from southeast Asia. Silk came from China because they developed good techniques for sericulture.
The Silk Roads had a significant role in world history. Arguably trade along the Silk Roads played the most significant role in China’s developments as a society and culture. Through the use of envoys, missionaries and diplomats, the Silk Roads unfolded political and economic relationships between Eastern and Western civilizations. Not only were the Silk Roads vital to economic trade, but they were also a route for cultural and disease trade. These developments have had a substantial impact on world
History has always been on an endless loop, and where we begin in this loop is 1072: The Investiture Controversy. The Investiture Controversy was a struggle for power between the Pope and the Emperor. The Pope challenged the Emperor on who was the rightful owner of the ability to appoint bishops. An agreement

Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2004. (pages 181-183) The Silk Road was used by the government to transport troops, munitions and food as well as means of communication. They used a courier system to pass along various types of information including very important information concerning news of the provinces under attack in the north. Merchants used it to transport their goods, but they had to pay an exorbitant price of 900 cash for only thirty-three miles to the government.
This was our first stop so it was also the first place we were traded. Luckily I stayed with the caravan I was originally with but some of my counterparts were traded for gold and metal ware. The caravan they were traded to headed north to stop in places such as Hami and Turfan. My caravan headed south to reach Kashgar which I learned was my way out of
In the same way the church used countless other techniques in obtaining power, such as taxing everything, including the crops the peasants grew. Secondly they even charged women that entered the church to become nuns. Due to this power the church was given land, towns, and villages with this a dominant position in the government is inevitable. Having a dominate position in government allows a greater responsibility of the church, thus sapping a great deal of additional power to the Catholic Church. If you believe in god’s and his teachings you were a puppet to their master scheme of lies and betrayal.
