Rehabilitation involves the successful and productive interactions of several clinicians. According to Lewis, Rehabilitation is the process of maximizing the patient’s capabilities and resources to promote optimal functioning related to physical, mental, and social well-being. There is no one universal definition of rehabilitation, but the goal and outcome of each patient implemented by a collaborative healthcare team are relatively similar. The goals of rehabilitation are to prevent deformity, maintain and improve function. Rehabilitation can occur in several settings, ranging from acute, subacute, or long term care. The role of the clinicians participating in the care of the client slightly differ depending on the settings. The nursing student …show more content…
One of the student nurse goal of this experience includes interviewing different members of the collaborative team to understand their role and scope of practice. The student nurse will monitor the client during rehab and determine how well activities are being tolerated. Another important goal of the nursing student include contributing to the client’s plan of care and implementing tasks in a timely manner. Providing holistic and competent care is the core of nursing practice, so it was important the nursing student spend an adequate amount of time assessing the non-physical part of the healing process. The mind and body are both interconnected, and the student nurse final goal was to uplift the client’s mood to encourage optimal participation in …show more content…

In order for Monti to make effective progress and reach potential outcomes selecting and implementing appropriate assessments and treatment strategies is vital. A key element in the occupational therapy profession is using a holistic approach to treating to enhance quality of life. Therefore, during the evaluation process the implementation of one assessment will not target all the skill areas Monti is deficient in. Each morning patients came in for assessment and the treatment team developed or altered existing treatment protocols. I longed to be part of this team, working to stabilize each patient so they could return home to pursue their goals. The nurses stood out to me as the team members at ground zero in the unit, working directly with patients, and advocating for them in meetings. As a Nurse Practitioner, I will provide this same standard of holistic care to my patients, taking into consideration their biological, social, psychological and cultural needs while developing and implementing treatment decisions.

Professional Presence and Influence Being able to promote a positive healing experience for patients is a significant responsibility for nurses. What heals one patient, may not work for another patient. Being equipped to identify what part is vital for each patient’s healing is not an easy task. As a nurse working in Labor and Delivery, a hot topic right now is enhanced recovery for cesarean section deliveries. The enhanced recovery program helps women improve their post-op outcomes, so they are more alert and able to bond with their baby (A.Laronche et al., 2017, pg.212). Enhanced recovery allows mothers to be more alert because there are not any narcotics in the enhanced recovery pathway. The reason enhanced recovery is so important in patient care is because we encourage patients to do skin to skin, breastfeed, and bond with their baby as soon after delivery as possible. When the patient was given narcotics, they were drowsy, asleep, or just didn’t feel strong enough to hold their baby, Since the enhance recovery has been introduced, patients are much more AAO x 3, and are able to have bonding time with their baby, which is much more satisfying for the mother and infant.
Jeffrey Eubanks J17002346 February 7, 2018 Physical Therapy Physical therapy is a career that will always be needed throughout society; it helps the human body rebuild physical function in people that have been injured, have birth defects, or any other reasons. People who have been in accidents or have disabling conditions such as low-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries and cerebral palsy turn to physical therapists, commonly called PTs, for help. These health care professionals use an assortment of techniques, called modalities, to reestablish function, improve movement, relieve pain and avoid or limit lasting physical disabilities in their patients. There are certain education requirements to become one, just like
I often noticed the activities the physical and occupational therapy practitioners performed with clients such as, walking and ROM exercises and I honestly assumed that this is what occupational therapy was all about; helping patients build up strength to perform everyday activities. At the time, I was unaware of how superficial I was in my thinking and that there was more behind than what I saw on the
The concepts of this theory include function of professional nursing, presenting behavior of the patient, immediate reaction, nursing process discipline as well as improvement (Petiprin, 2016). One of the roles of a nurse is to meet the immediate needs of the patient. Patients typically present to a facility with a requirement that should be identified and met by the nurse. The nurse should be able to identify the problematic situation from the patient to be able to address the need for help. The patient develops their perception of events and circumstances based on their automatic feelings and thoughts which causes the patient to have an immediate response.
Therapy programme will include strengthening, balance training and endurance training. Dietitian will also have a role to play to ensure adequate nutrition and education on proper diet to patient. Prior to discharge a home assessment would be conducted by the occupational therapy and recommendation will be given on necessary modification (5, 7). Functional activity training will also be incorporated to mimic home environment and achieve patient’s need and goals. Patient will also be given a home exercise programme and referred to community rehabilitation team for follow-up (6).
Health practitioners possess distinctive scope of practice standards based upon distinctive skills, education and qualification levels. RNs are accountable to assess patients’ health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records and supervise ENs and AINs practice. Excepting the ENs’ abilities to assist intervene and evaluate patients health and functional status and administer prescribed medicines or maintain intravenous fluid, ENs and AINs are both have responsibilities to observe patients health status and report changes to the RNs, maintain ongoing communication with RNs regarding the patients’ health and functional status, assist patients with ADL and emotional support, and understand health information technology. Successive healthcare treatment is always associated with collaborated teamwork.
It is very easy to get wrapped up in the day to day tasks that we complete as nurses. But in order to give our patients the best possible care, we must look at our day through a holistic lens. We will look at the different components that are important to a patient’s health and outline on to incorporate these components into current practice.
