For me this class has been a learning experience. From using the red ball exercise to break the ice and then working with random partners for Improvisational acting. It started with Professor Slater when the first I went to class and he told us that we were going to be tossing an invisible ball to our classmates. At first this felt a little awkward and weird, but doing this over and over in separate sessions really made me feel comfortable and helped me loosen up. I remember no knowing anyone’s name during the first meeting, but by the third meeting I knew at least more than half of the classes names clearly. The second activity that helped me be comfortable in my skin and be confident was the activity where we walked around the class and did …show more content…
I have worked with all different types of people during my school time, but I’ve never acted like this with anyone before. I have never been in a position before where I would know something and I would have to let another person know without using words and through actions. This was a good learning experience in learning on how to use your body language to give off a message. Most of the times I ended up working with a person I had not known from before so It always felt like a challenge to get to a mid-point of thinking to come up with a good scene to act. Over time we all slowly got out of our comfort zone and it made it easier to understand how to go off each other’s movements. Working with each other also helped with understanding how to use each other’s energy to create a situation. For example, whenever I got a partner who was happy and cheerful, our acting scene was usually something fun and cheerful. In other time when an unenthusiastic person would be working with me then we would have to create a scene according to that energy, but most of the time everyone was happy and excited. I am glad we work with partners and groups because otherwise it would’ve been so difficult trying to act and Improvise alone without having someone with you. All the audience attention would be on you and it would cause a person to get nervous and stress out
The "Challenge: Expand Our Circle" in this course was very enjoyable. Most of the movies that were played were movies I would have never thought about watching. A few of these movies touched my heart and made me quite emotional. Also, a few of the movies dealt with quite a bit of cultural tensions which made the movie interesting to watch. Before this class, I would have never paid much attention to the music in the movies and how much they connect with the scenes in the movies.
At first nobody wanted to speak we were all kind of shy being around new
Personally, I really enjoy the sizes of the classes. I have never had a class with over twenty-five students in it. Brebeuf doesn 't shy too far away from twenty-five. I also thought the way the “free blocks,” were set up was interesting. I thought it was neat how the student got to choose what they were going to do with that time.
Dr. Walton is passionate about this class making it was easy to get into the topics. It felt like we were just talking and not another lecture. I liked how Dr. Walton interacted with the class and asked us questions to see if we were understanding things and what our views are. She always made it feel like if you ever needed anything or any help her door was always open and not to hesitate to ask for help. The movie Te Ata helped to see how things were tied together.
An experience that has really molded me into the person I am today was growing up with my alcoholic father. My dad was a crazy teenager. He was the typical naughty boy who got himself into many stupid situations. My grandparents, the parents of my dad came from Holland in the 30’s to get away from the war. My Opa (grandpa) made a great living for them here in Southern California.
The class was broken down into two sections that day, the first half of the class was instruction on glucometers and blood sugars and the second half of the class was a test review for an upcoming exam. Observing an instructor in a teaching session is much different than being a student in class. I was able to have an outside perspective on
I have been humbled enough to have the opportunity to take a dual enrollment class while in high school. Similar to any first experience, I was nervous. In fear of the unknown, I sat in the back of the class and watched students hustle to claim the remaining seats. From my perspective, I could see the uncomfortable shifting and the awkwardness clung to me like humidity. When it came time for the dreaded introductions, there was a quick moment of panic and annoyance.
What also worked for me was having an interactive and good standing with Mr.Hall because he tried his best to integrate me into the class. Which was very helpful because it kept me busy, attentive and also not just sitting
I was graced with a fantastic group of teammates, which furthered my interest in the course. Having the support of my groupmates made it easy to accomplish my academic, personal, and professional goals. My progress was smooth also due to having instructors that I felt comfortable engaging with questions. Overall this class facilitated my growth like clockwork. If I could give one piece of advice to future students, it would be to dive in head first.
Okay so you people enter junior high in three days. I’m sure your past sixth grade teachers told you some stuff about what you need to know for junior high. I bet they just told you to listen in all your classes, that teachers aren’t going to help you as much, and that you 're going to actually have to study for all your tests and quizzes. While all of that may be true, they are not giving you the proper advice to survive in junior high. In the next five minutes, I will be giving you all the tips and survival methods you’ll need for junior high.
However, it was the complete opposite. I would meet my member and talk to her about her expectations of the class and casually go over the materials that was due. Then, when I met the other tutors during LA 111, I would share how I was feeling and even listen to others about how they feel throughout the program. It was definitely a new experience for me.
This course has essentially taught me that my body language and how open I present myself ultimately contribute to how comfortable others feel around me. Additionally, learning to care less about how others perceive me and simply having fun when dancing greatly contributes to my character development. In what specific ways did you feel supported by the
I was able to walk around and listen in on different classmates. As a class and thinking back to the first day, we all are doing great. When I was the counselor, I notice how easy it was for me to stay focused
Class Observation Summary #1 My two day observation took place at Summit Academy high school. It is a school of about 700 students located in the city of Romulus MI. The teacher, Mrs. Jill Carbone allowed me to observe the 6th hour class for two days for 60 minutes each day. This class is composed of 11 English language learners (ELL); ten of the students are Spanish speakers and one student is Urdu speaker.
I don’t remember my whole schedule but I do remember some of my classes I had math, biology, history, Spanish, English1, gym and some other that I can’t remember and all my classes I have to take it with them. This group of people were divided by to different nationality Puerto Ricco and Dominican republic so my first day the boys from the other country they were really nice with me until they star to give me rare looks: like I was something nasty or ugly and they start to say stupid jokes about where I’m from and I never say anything I felt humiliated and vulnerable of all this stuff had happen to me the same week I attended to the school. I decide to sit alone at the cafeteria, when five girls approached to my table and they set up a conversation
