The overall semester definitely had its up’s and downs . As a Peer Mentor I have learned to appreciate my hardwork much more and also learned that speaking up a lot is key to key action to many things. One of my goals for the semester as a Peer Mentor was to get to know my peer mentees on a friendship level or maybe as acquaintances. That goal actually came true in a way because I only made three acquaintances only. Another goal I had throughout the semester was to go outside of my comfort zone a little, I really didn 't like to talk in front of the class. However, as a Peer Mentor I had to do that more than twice which really develop outside of my comfort zone. Sgo that growth in getting out of my comfort zone was amazing and helped me …show more content…
What definetly did not work was sending out emails to my peer mentors, that really turned out bad. I would send out emails to my mentees asking for their opinion on activities for us to do, and also to remind them of the planned activities. So realizing that emails did not work at all, I decided to do announcements at the beginning of class. However, that as well did not work out very well, I knew this due to the fact that no one came to any of my Peer Mentor activities. The only activity that worked out was the one that dealt with registration outside of my presentation in class. Which involved them asking for help after my presentation, so that really was the only success. So I guess I can say that having and planning out these events did not work out for me very well. What worked for me this semester was the in class discussions because I was able to interact with the opinions and I was able to share my opinions. These discussions also made me feel that I was apart of the class and not just an empty voice in the front of the class. What also worked for me was having an interactive and good standing with Mr.Hall because he tried his best to integrate me into the class. Which was very helpful because it kept me busy, attentive and also not just sitting
After being chosen as the President of National Honor Society, the most active club at my school, one of my duties was inducting the new members each year. I remember the butterflies in my stomach as I looked out at all the NHS members and their parents sitting in the huge auditorium. My principal and head of school were both keenly listening to me speak as I prayed not to stutter on any words. However, with every word that left my mouth, I felt my level of confidence rising. After finishing off strong and hearing the roar of applause, I realized that effective public speaking is a vital leadership skill that I definitely
While Finalizing my senior project portfolio and accomplishing dream goals, comparing this to my high school experiences is nothing. I accomplished so much and am so proud of what I have done. The knowledge I learned while completing this project is that there are so many people who you can trust. I learned how to get jobs and learned how to be a model. I learned to trust my gut about people.
This semester I feel like I have grown a lot as a writer and a researcher; this is because I have learned how to write a research paper for scholars who know what I am specifically talking about
I was chosen as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the Fall 2015 ZOOL 2403 Labs due to my performance in the previous semester’s lecture section and lab. I was selected from over 120 nominations to fill a limited 57 spots. As an undergraduate teaching assistant I was assigned a lab section that I went to each week and I assisted the Graduate Teaching assistant in teaching, identifying, explaining structures to the students. I was also expected to set up assessments and mini practicals for each lab, and help proctor the lab practical exams.
In the end, while only half of the students in the FIG attended, I was able to provide an atmosphere where they could relax and have fun. This was also the most rewarding experience I had the entire semester, as not only was I able to effectively plan an event that brought the group closer together, but I very positive feedback from the students, who relayed that with my help, were able to make a smooth transition into
1. The way I participated was in groups, which we were called conference services. The way we made things work, was we divided our tasks. For example, I had to pass out brochure with three other classmates while the other had to pass out nametags. As we worked hard together, we managed to meet the goals of the assignment.
Some of us just posted a verbal video recording without showing our face, and others felt comfortable enough to post a regular video. This tells me that in order for us to be successful we need to encourage each other and provide accurate feedback. On the blogs, I rnoticed that many of us are concerned over the economy in the U.S, and more people than I expected, actually care about the additives in their food. From this I learned that in order for me to capture the attention of my audience (my classmates), I should deliver messages that relate to the topics before mentioned because this will grasp their attention. Knowing your audience is extremely important.
I feel like I have excelled and persevered. I have learned many things this school including how it is a terrible habit to procrastinate. Now I know what are some of my strengths and weaknesses. Being a part of the health academy has increased my communications skills and taught me how to balance out sports, work and school. My hardest classes this year where chemistry and math
About two years ago our unit was assigned a new supervisor. The new supervisor had an investigative background, with no prior knowledge of dealing with gangs or gang culture. Initially, he was very receptive to the fact that certain individuals in the unit were asked to present gang material to schools, businesses, and organizations. In the begin, only one other coworker and I would do the presentations, due to the fact we had the most knowledge and were P.O.S.T( Police Officer Standard Training) certified to instruct. In fact, the new supervisor was in support of us receiving our certifications.
Going into the facilitation we were not exactly sure what to expect. We knew that the students who become student ambassadors are typically very outgoing and motivated, so we were hoping that the discussion would flow naturally. Our concerns were that there would be a low turnout of people or that the participants
One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student. In addition, I had the opportunity to strengthen several essential skills such as organizational skills, leadership skills, and communication
I have met a significant number of people. My supervisor has introduced me to building management in several of the buildings, along with all of the subcontractors. The lowest level relationship I have established is with the subcontractors that have been on our different jobs throughout my internship.
Step one is to attend all of the classes. One may think that skipping out on class once or twice is fine, but then once or twice then becomes a few here and there, which then leads to being gone all the time. It may be the boring class that no one ever pays attention in, or it may be the class that is really easy to understand. Either way, students need to get to class. Being in class and absorbing the material is a great way to understand what is going on.
For example, at 5:02 I call the class back to me and show the students how I would form a fact family sentence and ask if I used my numbers correctly out of my bag to be sure they understood the goal. By doing this I was using effective instructional strategies to be sure the students understood. I was consistently interacting with students as you can see at to see what their responses were as
