Psalms Views of Law The true definition of law is any written or positive rule or collection of rules prescribed under the authority of the state or nation, as by the people in its constitution. The Bible has many laws throughout it that shows the people how to live on the daily basis. To follow the law the lord made for us is what we do to guarantee our way into heaven, not understanding that there are more aspects to living the bible. Psalms 119 views of the law as I researched said it was an expansion of more laws from previous verses Psalms 19:7-9. Throughout Psalms 119 some of the views of law are to be righteous, trustworthy, faithful, unchangeable, eternality, light, and purity. This Psalm view law in multiple ways that it believes
The definition of law is a system of rules that a community or country set to regulate the people apart of it. To make a law, the first step is to create a bill. A bill is proposal for a new law. “If a Law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it; he is obligated to do so”- Thomas Jefferson. Law is a system of the principles and regulations that are established in society that govern people’s behavior. Generally, law consists of two main legal systems; common law or criminal law. Though some completely disregard the Law of Moses, others have thought of it as unchristian and have given the law a message of death. Moses has favorably shown a doctrine of a law that can only create death in sinners, and this doctrine should have had a better effect on people (Calvin 223). This heresy needed to be abolished or else the aim of the Mosaic Law would be distorted. The repeal of the Moral Law was mainly caused by the belief of the law as a curse. The law was believed to “condemn and destroy” sinners, but had not completed the action (Calvin 223).
Another example of this is seen in Acts 13:38-39 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the Law of Moses”(Bible Gateway NIV). Biblical Scholar Reviews Psalm 91 Meditation in the word, I did not totally understand before attending a class on the Psalms. My teacher defined it as having to do with ponding on God’s word daily in small increments. I found another definition of meditation in the word that I think goes along with my teacher’s definition. According to bible.study.tool.com meditation in the word means, to “ponder the Word in our hearts, preach it to our own souls, and personally applying it to our own lives and circumstances” (n.d., para 4).
Chapter 5 of Law in America is describing how a country or a group of people create rules based on their culture, time and place. The author states that people without rules or laws cannot build a country that is a suitable place to live. The law teaches people how to be polite to others, not to kill or steal others’ belongings and not to create a conflict over others’ faith. People are scared of breaking the law because of the punishments that follow. Without a law people are not fearful of the punishments, so they do as they please.
