Major football and basketball programs are the only ones which make millions of dollars every year. So, only football and basketball players from major programs deserve to get paid, but this is not fair. It would be unreasonable to the other athletes to only pay football and basketball players because they put in just as much work as football and basketball players. All sports programs have a similar schedule, and they are all demanding.

I personlly think NCAA athletes should get paid, because they put a lot on the line to play college ball. Yea they might get paid in free education but you got to look on the other side how are they to support they self for personal needs like tooth paste, cloths, shoes, soap, and many more. What about the ones that go out of there home state and play. Their family many miles away so they can’t get to much support from them.

Another valid argument for why they deserve to be paid is because a scholarship for the athletes doesn 't normally cover all of the tuitions. So the players are forced to pay the rest of the tuition to go there and play. Not everybody can afford to pay for college that is why they work their butt off for a scholarship. A case happened at duke university where a player got a scholarship and still had to pay 1,995 dollars for his scholarship. The study shows that the players were living just 732 dollars above the poverty line.

I strongly believe NCAA athletes should be paid for their contribution to the NCAA. These athletes are directly responsible for the generation of revenue for the NCAA and the Universities. Head coaches garner up to seven million dollars a year and the top-tier athletes currently receive $5,000. There 's no arguing that the players contribute more to a team than the head coach. If athletes were paid more, the likelihood that more athletes would achieve their four years of eligibility with the NCAA would be higher.

Have you ever wondered why National Football League players, known as NFL players, make so much money? I think NFL players should continue to earn such high salaries for the reasons that follow; they entertain millions, risk getting life altering injuries, and create loads of revenue. To put the second reason into perspective, getting tackled by a 300 pound defensive lineman is comparable to getting in a car accident at 30 miles per hour without a seat belt on (Wisconsin Trooper Association). For example, if it wasn’t for basketball players, Gonzaga University would need to spend a lot more money on building a name recognition to students not located on the West. Everyone has their own opinion, but mine is that college athletes should be paid. The money that can go towards better causes such as donating to the homeless, donating to charities, helping people, etc goes to people playing a game. In fact, they actually worked for it over many years of training and dedication. Pro athletes are paid exactly what they deserve because they work hard and sacrifice more than most people think. It's not just businesses paying them; people do things like buy merchandise, tickets to the games and support their favorite teams while the athlete does the “dirty” work of performing.

Athletes are paid more than very important jobs such as surgeons, teachers, and even the president! Athletes don’t even do very important things, they merely entertain fans in an arena. Do they save lives, educate our future, or run our country? No, they don’t. Finally, an athlete's salary is more than an average American household makes in a whole decade.

Professional athletes are extremely overpaid for the “jobs” that they do. They only entertain for a living and get paid millions of dollars per season. Each sport is different in how they pay their athletes, and the difference in salaries from one player to another can be in the tens of millions of dollars. These athletes are paid for jobs that they only do for a certain number of games and do not even play the games over the course of an entire year. In most professional sports, they play in games for only a few months and then have a few months off.
