Positive Effects Of The Crusades And Carolina High School

The Crusades are several wars that went on between the Muslims and the Christians They fought for Jerusalem. Most of the wars took place in Jerusalem. Were the results of the Crusades more positive of negative? I think the results were more negative. One reason being the people that the Christians hired turned their backs on them.

Some positive effects of the crusades were the Established communities that were created in the crusader states by European merchants. Trades between these European merchants/businessmen were still encouraged. “The Muslim rulers still encouraged trades” between the Europeans and the Muslims because it benefits both customer and seller/trader (document 5). Legacy’s of the crusades are still remembered and greatly make an impression on the future. Luxuries and more were brought to Europe when the crusaders returned.

The Crusades was a holy battle between the Christians and the Muslims. The Crusades was nine wars all together. With five major wars and four minor wars. Those wars still have effects on modern day society even after a thousand years. Were the results of the Crusades more positive or negative?

The end of the 11th century was the beginning of the first campaign called Crusade, which was later followed by other crusades. It was a period of great fighting for the lands and religious ideologies between Christians and Muslims. The last negative that is seen in the map of document 6 shows the triangular trade routes and nothing is getting imported into the middle east which caused a gap in cultural diffusion. Pope Urban II’s speech at Clermont in 1095 was a call to crusade given outdoors to the nobles, commoners and church leaders of the Western European Christians (the Franks). The people were moved by this speech and it changed history, launching the first crusade to capture Jerusalem from the Muslim Turks. After hearing Pope Urban II’s speech, thousands of Western European Christians were moved to embark on the dangerous journey and fight in the crusade. I believe the main reasons they were moved and persuaded to fight was; 1) they felt it was their Christian duty, 2) Pope Urban promised them absolution for their sins and 3) they felt compelled to defend Christianity, their holy land and the Eastern Christians.

There were four European crusades talked about; 1st Crusade, 2nd Crusade, 3rd Crusade, and the Children’s Crusade. The 1st Crusade began in 1096 when Pope Urban II agreed to help take back the Holy Lands of Jerusalem from Muslims or the Turks. There were many battles throughout Western Europe, Byzantine and Islam which were mostly won by Christians.

The Crusades did not affect education as much as the Peasants’ Revolt did. The Peasants’ Revolt was the turning point for education whereas the Crusades only aided the higher nobles in knowledge. After the Crusades the peasants still needed knowledge, no one other than higher nobles got formal education. The Peasants’ Revolt gave the rest of the population power and made people realize that the peasants were human beings and deserved

While soccer is singled out as one of my very strong passions, I find myself playing harder and smarter during school soccer. With the help of Craig Rocastle, former professional soccer player and the current coach of Seaman High School, we are undergoing one of the best seasons Seaman High has ever had. Presently after seven games we have yet to face defeat; furthermore, Rocastle pushes our team to the limits and states, “We will fly, I am proud of our season so far but there is still another level in us.” As our team enter each game with new mentalities and expectations we are; in fact, becoming a better team while also handling the task at hand and winning the game.

Many things happened during the crusades. First crusaders left there families, the women and children where left to fend for themselves. In the first and only successful crusade the crusaders killed all Muslim inhabitants of Jerusalem. Although the crusaded was successful, within 46 years the land had to be fought for agin. All thought there was other crusades they still didn 't manage regain the holy land.

Their intention was to recapture Holy Lands they believed were rightfully theirs from the Muslim people that had invaded it. As any attack on a large group of people would do, every major group was affected. The Christians had their own reasons and beliefs for going on these Crusades.
