In Kwame Anthony Appiah’s article, “What Is the Point of College?”, he discusses the division of college into two main purposes that both intertwines and clashes with each other. The first is to provide students the practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in the “real world”, once they graduate and enter the workforce. It caters to the students’ wants and expectations in the hopes that it’s steep price tag will be justified. The second is to expand the minds of the students and have them think out of the box. It encourages them to challenge their own ideologies and be open to that of others. Out of the two, the first purpose resonates with me the most. In order to achieve this grade, there 4 steps to complete. The first step is to be aware of the deadlines for all homeworks and projects. In order to achieve this, I must write down all of the due dates on my calendar and check it often so that I can be prepared. The second step is to avoid being late to class by packing my bag the night before so that I don’t have to waste time on it in the morning and setting my alarm at least 30 minutes earlier than the time I should wake up so that I have ample time to rouse myself. The third step is to set aside time to work on any papers or homeworks for all classes so that I do not feel pressured or rushed. By dedicating at least 1-2 hours per day on the weekends to schoolwork, I can manage my workload without feeling overburdened. The final step is the limit or work around procrastination. If I couldn’t get rid of this habit up until now, it would be near impossible to do so within the next few months. The next best option is to learn how to manage my procrastination so that I can still get work done. The best method is to stop what I am doing and start working for just 5 minutes. It is easy enough to work for just 5 minutes and if after that time I want to quit then I will do so. But more often than not, I will continue to work since I have
