Argument Essay: Reducing College Tuition

Recently, many have begun to attack and degrade higher education in the United States. In the book How College Works, authors Daniel Chambliss and Christopher Takacs claim, “As state support has eroded, and as more students attend college in an increasingly desperate attempt to find viable jobs, the price to students of attending an institution of higher education has gone up, especially at more selective institutions” (172). So is college even worth it? Caroline Bird’s excerpt from her book Case Against College “Where College Fails Us” is an adequately written article that agrees with those who question whether college is a good investment. college tuition should be paid for because, if the United States had more and more students going to college instead of going straight to jobs the economy would improve greatly. A vast majority of those who graduate from college would be getting higher paying jobs than if they hadn 't gone at all, which in the long run gives them more money to spend and therefore increases tax revenues. The increased tax revenues would enable the government to provide services to the constituents. Having more money go into the economy will help money go towards funding college however they would choose to deal with splitting the costs. This would also help small businesses because if they have more revenue coming in that can be used to grow their small business bigger.

Finding a job can be difficult but often times when and employer sees the level of education one has and sees they it’s an associate, or even bachelor’s degree than other sets a great outlook on you and even higher your chances of getting the job. Going into college a person is accepting the fact that a lot of time and money will be put into it. College isn’t meant to be super easy but it’s not at all hard if the work that needs to be done gets done. Altough people hate the amount of money and time gets put into college it’s all well worth it at the end.

The student loan issues are causing huge problems on both students and society it seems clear enough that students are borrowing a lot of student debt, and they are failing on that debt and aren’t capable of paying it back and that is destroying their ability and threatening their ability to access any more credit in the future. The approaches students are taking to a student loan debt collection are fraught with many problems, including bad recovery tactics and failing on making repayments on the debt. There is no escaping the fact that the cost of college tuition is on the rise and it’s not declining, and that is making it more difficult for students to obtain a degree which is really important to acquire to be able to function in today’s

However, it is still an issue for students to cough up that money. The idea of making community college free to any student in America has been a dream for low income students for a while. President Obama’s desire to make the tuition of community college to everyone in the nation would only make it difficult for students to get a free education, limit them to essential resources, and discourage students from applying to four year universities. Granting free community college tuition to incoming freshmen will draw “more students to already crowded community colleges”. Along with the overcrowded campuses, a very long waiting list will soon form making it just as competitive to get into a four year university.

The financial burdens that college leaves with the families and students needs to be addressed as student loans keep racking up over time. The cost of tuition for colleges has risen drastically over the years and has bounded students to only one or two college choices to choose from and at some points tearing away the opportunity to go to their dream college. However, one reason college has driven up in price is because the value it brings with it’s degrees, but it should not limit those who can not afford the worthy degree. College should be cheaper as it will ease financial burdens and broaden the choices of those wanting to attend

Some college students are working part-time jobs and are full-time students. Perhaps, working through college will not always cover all of a student's education expenses including books, supplies, room and board. If free tuition is given, students will have further time to educate themselves. Moreover, college tuition and prices are at an all-time high. Each year, prices are rising higher and higher.

Many people dream of a life filled with riches, but that dream is hard to obtain without a college degree. It is somewhat ironic how people dream of being a successful student and going to college but the cost of tuition turns that dream into a horrible nightmare. It is not a shock to most people when they that college tuition is expensive, but in the past few years it has increased to an all-time high. Lower and middle class students have now begun to realize that college tuition is holding them away from their dreams. Even though college tuition could provide opportunities for job creation and economic growth, tuition is not affordable for the average American household which in effect, prohibits students from taking opportunities like going to college in the first place.

For these reasons, college should be free, for it would help so many individuals, communities, and the economy. Lastly, the level of debt that has begun to take claim to the lives of the American people is a huge problem. Among these reasons, the debt each student accumulates is the most important issue to fix for them. The first major issue with the current state of college tuition is that it is just too expensive for a large portion of the american population.

Because of the cost of college, many students fresh out of high school can’t go to college. In order to make it easier for the lower-class to go to college, you should do at least one of the following things.

The cost of college tuition is an enormous problem now days. For a long time, the subject never got brought up and today things are changing. Students study hard and try their best to get that college acceptance letter from their dream college. Financial aids! Yes there are financial aids that students can apply to lessen the student debt.

Raising tuition year after year will cause a drop in applicants and affect current students’ retention rates. That is because tuition is already at an all-time high, making it harder for underfunded students to even think about entering higher education. Overtime students have grown increasingly frustrated with tuition rates. That is because in the past 20 years, "tuition increased twice as fast as the overall cost of living”

Did you know that Forty-one percent of four-year college students did not graduate within six years? College students around the country are in insane amount of debts and have no way to get rid of it and that’s a reason many do not graduate. Due to the rise in costs to attend college there has been discussions about free education, but how the debt could have been minimized and the effects on economy have not been brought up. College education should not be offered for free to all students because of the missed opportunities and unintended costs of free education are very expensive. Students don’t take advantage of the opportunities they are provided in high school, like dual-enrollment, that could save them time and money in college.
