The oil change that changed my life At one point or another, everyone fails in life. Never in the world would I thought I could have ruined someone’s life by failing a $40 oil change. Thinking back to about 2 years ago a simple oil change in a car could have put me in debt thousands. Remembering, almost every single month my dad teaching me how to do an oil change on a vehicle. My dad finally let me do one by myself on a customer’s car. I did not know what to think at this moment, I was the most nervous I have ever been because my Dad actually trusted me. I have vivid memory of pulling the car on the lift and changing the oil. Knowing all the knowledge I know about cars during this time I knew today was the day I prove I don’t need no
Let’s start with my first life changing event. When my parents told me I was moving to Idaho it was legit two days before leaving. I didn’t really have any time to say goodbye to all my friends. I was living in New Mexico so moving from New Mexico to Idaho was a really long trip. I remember crying on my way to Idaho because I kept thinking of going
January of 1901 Texas seemed boring for those Texans that were there at the time, But the 20th century was just getting started when one drop of the gooey, black substance that changed Texas in seconds, Oil is its name! January, 1901, on a little hill called Spindletop oil sprouted into a beautiful rose. It made many opportunities in Texas and the US. Oil was used for lots of things like Asphalt (for paving roads), gasoline to fuel cars, trucks, etc. Oil would now be the economic engine for Texas, oil would make a gigantic impact on Texas as a whole.
It came to a stop, dad had turned off the engine and at the same time the both of us had let out a deep sigh. Feeling relaxation taking over our bodies, we let go of the past tensions we normally have when packing the car before we left. Dad, wearing his usual tie die shirt and black shorts with yellow stripes on the side pulled out the keys from the ignition and placed them into his right
As we sat there with our parents behind us and brother in front, I started reading the warnings in the car. Don’t stand up at all times, keep all body parts in the car at all times, I thought. All of a sudden the man over the loudspeaker came on. “Please keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times. And please enjoy the ride!”
A life changing event that occurred was when I moved from West Virginia to Arizona. Which was a tremendous trip which took about two thousand miles,by driving. On our way to the desert my family and I stopped at campgrounds, resorts was memorable. It provided me with a new aspect of how truly large the world is. While stopping at campgrounds along the road to Arizona I was able to admire the scenes, explore the town metaphorically speaking.
The things that my parents encountered made me a grateful person. I was fortunate enough to receive the right guidance in life to succeed. Port Arthur, Texas has made me into a motivated and determined person wanting to help the less fortunate. Surviving Hurricane Ike in 2008 gave me the mindset that anything is possible. Experiencing the crime made me very close to my family and friends because they could be dead the next
As I talked to one of my friends on the shore of Timberwolf Lake, I had a realization that changed my life forever. Timberwolf Lake is a Young Life camp in Northern Michigan that I attended the summer after my sophomore year. One of my friends was having a hard time in life and needed someone to talk to. While talking to him and making him feel better, it also made me feel better. It was then that I realized that I can make a difference in the world by make others lives more prosperous and more enjoyable. I wanted to make the world a better place than when I came into it.
I gained a new perspective when I had to help my parents, because I never realized how much work it is to parent a
Through being aware of what we spent and managed to save in, my brother received his transplant. Through the hardships we learned valuable skills that would later positively help us in other hardships. Without the hardships we would have been able to have the enjoyable life we have
About two or three years ago, my family and I were traveling to Colorado and we stopped at a gas station just off the highway. As we pulled up alongside the pump, my dad noticed a strange man walking around. He wore odd clothes, perhaps a costume of sorts. The man walked up to people pumping gas. The scenario was rather bizarre and we decided not to get gas there.
To another person, it might be so simple as losing an object that meant a lot to them. These losses can impact the rest of someone 's life. I have experienced this feeling within the last year. My mom has been really sick recently and lots of things have changed even over the past few years, but only a few months ago would it really make the biggest impact in my opinion. In the novel The Other Wes Moore there are two boys named Wes Moore that goes through many struggles through life.
There are many things that could happen in a person’s life that could cause change. Some changes could bring joy to their lives and some could bring sadness to their lives. Moving from India to America has taught me how to respect other people, be more responsible, and be more loving towards friends and families.
In chapter 10 of Pat Conroy’s novel, The Water Is Wide, Pat Conroy takes the children of Yamacraw Island to Washington, D.C. This trip was a great learning experience for the kids and was the farthest that any of them had ever been from home. They toured museums, shopped for souvenirs from street vendors, and ate hot dogs from hot dog carts. This trip taught many lessons to the children, and even to Mr. Conroy. Pat Conroy learned that trips are unpredictable in nature, and cannot be planned to the letter.
Weslaco is like my adopted mother. She gave my family and I a home when we were brought into the United States. I wish I could be like everyone else and say I was born here, however I was not. I was born in Mexico, the mother who couldn't give me the opportunities like Weslaco has given me. Through thick and thin, weslaco has always been there with me from the start.
