The year was June 23rd, 1968. It was wet, mucky, and the air was filled with a thick sweat that seemed to never dissipate. We were in the middle of thick, green, tropical jungle in Saigon, Vietnam. Me and my friend Carlton were in a platoon of 6 other men. We were sitting there smoking our cigarettes and telling old stories of the good old days when were back in America. We were sitting on a hill looking down for any trouble and disturbances in the thick, green, leafy brush. Everyone was telling stories. One of the men that we had nick named Georgia was telling us about how his mother used to make him the most delicious rhubarb pie with a small dish of vanilla ice cream off to the side that she had picked up from a small family run corner store that was just down the road. While in the midst of telling us this we heard a …show more content…
I went to light a cigarette and my hands were shaking so bad to the point to where it took several flicks of the lighter before the flame stayed lit. The rumbling became more loud and a roar filled the sky. It was gone as quickly as it had come. Soon after I heard the sounds of guns cocking as my men made sure their weapons were loaded and ready for battle. We looked down as we saw trees being knocked down as another roar filled the sky. As the trees were being knocked over we saw through the clearing the raging fires that had engulfed the V.C. base. As the trees being knocked down moved closer we finally got a look at what we were dealing with. It was the biggest creature I had ever seen in my entire life. It dinosaurs. I couldn’t believe it. Out of everything it could have been it had to be dinosaurs. I am absolutely terrified. I am so afraid of dinosaurs ever since they caused the death of my parents. My parent were heading out of an opera when they were robbed and shot by a crazy, homeless, drug addicted dinosaur. He took all their money, clothes, and even some of their hair for god knows
And I waited for the storm to end. Suddenly I heard a big crash and a man’s scream then a big “VOOOOOOM” And then the scream abruptly stopped. Somehow I knew what had happened. A man was running along fast for cover suddenly he sees a sun flare bearing down on him he screams then gets incinerated. When the Storm ended, I lifted the bell of my head and lifted the Liberty of off Charlie (The bell was so thick you could not hear anything from in there.).
ANALYSIS America’s policy of containment, which lead to the further development of the Truman Doctrine and the Marshal Plan, aimed to contain the spread of communism and when Vietnam was being threatened by a communist regime, the Vietcong, America extended its policy of containment to Asia. (Source B)America extending its policy of containment to Asia meant that it would support the South Vietnamese government by supplying military aid and advisors and American troops to assist the South Vietnamese in preventing a communist takeover. (Source A)America was scared that the ‘Domino effect’ would occur in Vietnam, which was the theory that if one country fell to communism, which in this case would be Vietnam, all the countries that besieged it
Eckles wants to hunt a dinosaur but ignores warnings about stepping off of the path and even threats of getting shot as a consequence. Travis explains how killing one animal can have a large impact,
The theory of the asteroid being the reason for the extinction of the dinosaurs and with the help of some colleagues, it was able to confirm the extinction of the extinction
My mother was breathing really hard and I could feel her heart beat beating at a thousand beats per second. I heard a sound of a whistle. People were moving aside while multiple firemen carriages were rushing through another after another while ladders were poking out at the end of them. After they passed by there was the sound of a loud bell that was so loud that everyone through out the whole city could hear it. Suddenly my mom took a right when every one else was going straight.
I woke up early in the morning the only thing on my mind was to get a turkey. I walked out to my blind in pitch black dark, I had no idea what was around, but I knew where I was going. I made it to my blind while it was still pitch black out. As I sat there i listened to the various sounds around me, and through the slit slit in the corner of the blind that my gun was pointed through i watched as the sky turned from dark to light. I sat there, continuously calling, listening and watching for any type of
Ray Bradbury used figurative language to describe the Tyrannosaurus Rex in “A Sound of Thunder. ’’ Ray Bradbury compared the legs to pistons, this means that the Tyrannosaurus Rex has strong legs. He compared it’s eyes to ostrich eggs, this means that the dinosaur has big eyes. He also compared muscles to thick ropes, this means that the dino has big thighs.
“I stepped fearfully in: the apartment was empty, and my bedroom was also freed from its hideous guest.” this is where the monster gets loose after realizing that his own creator is terrified of him. In Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs escape because when Nedry leaves to deliver the stolen embryos he left the security with no one watching it, so when Nedry dies nobody is there to re activate the electric fence leaving it for the dinosaurs able to escape their “cages”. With the dinosaurs out on the loose countless others die as well, while Hammond is out on a walk trying to fix the park and decides to salvage he gets injured doing so and ends up being attacked and eaten by a pack of compys.
Below the turquoise waters of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula lies the site of a long ago mass murder. In a geologic instant, most of the world’s animal and plant species went extinct. Drilling through hundreds of meters of rock, investigators have finally reached the "footprint" left by the accused. That footprint marks Earth’s most notorious space rock impact. Known as Chicxulub (CHEEK-shuh-loob), it’s the dinosaur
The veteran also discussed a memorable experience he had during the Tet Offensive of 1968, and his thoughts on his service and the war itself. It was 1965 and the first U.S. troops were landing in South Vietnam, there were 3,500 U.S. Marines added to the already 25,000 advisers in the country. This war would define how we view life for decades and generations. Most people thought it was a mistaken war with no purpose other than to stop the flow of communism in Asia and the fear of others would follow, and add to the strength of the Soviet Union during the height of the cold war. Some people turned the war into a racist battle ground to justify the uprising and protest against the war. The troops were poorly armed and on average fought 240 days a year when compared to WW2 with only 40 days a year for infantrymen.
This incident caused so much havoc in our small little town, so no one cares about school or work anymore. Everyone’s too busy trying to survive the outbreak instead. What happened to cause our quiet little town complete mayhem? Dinosaurs. Over grow lizards.
Title Researchers and scientists have constructed extensive research on dinosaur’s extinction. Speculation instead of real evidence seems common in most theories about the dinosaurs’ extinction. However, Jay Gould’s essay “Sex, Drugs, and the Extinction of Dinosaurs” is the complete opposite of speculation over evidence. Rather, Gould uses the mix of persuasive techniques, such as rhetorical questions, logos, along with profound evidence to not only disapprove of other theories but convince readers of his place on the dinosaur’s extinction.
Once they are in the past and see the Tyrannosaurus Ray Bradbury uses imagery to explain what the dinosaur looks like. The Tyrannosaurus was described as, “...thirty feet above half the trees, a great evil of god, folding its delicate watchmaker’s
All of a sudden, I heard a huge bang and then a scream from a woman. My nerves jumped up a little bit, and I started to have some second thoughts about going in. However, it was too late, and we were already in. The worker showed my dad, my brother, and I, a long, narrow hallway we were supposed to follow.
