Personal Essay: Diversity In California

The famous food for California is a deep fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar and a Jarritos pina to drink with it. These two things are a famous Mexican food in California restaurants and food trucks. They are also Famous for their festivals and there mascots in California. Their famous mascot in a NBA mascot called Slamson The Lion which is the Sacramento Kings mascot. A famous festival for California is the day of the dead or most know as Dia De Los Muertos which celebrates ancestors that have died and they leave food at the grave for them to take to the underworld.

The 1950's consisted of rapid changes for almost all populations. Rural areas started to become vacant while cities were over populated, and suburbs became the primary way of life. During this time, New Orleans upheld America's idealistic image of a "melting-pot." According to history today, a melting pot is a "location in which a variety of cultures, theories, styles and people are mixed into one. " Diversity was widespread during New Orleans in the 1950's where majority of the population were of European and African descent.

Texas is an incredibly geographically and culturally diverse state. It contains multiple mountains above 8000 feet and hundreds of miles of shoreline. Texas has people of many nationalities, such as Spaniards, Germans, and Mexicans. Texas, being the second-largest state of the United States in land area, has numerous important geographical features and cultural sites found in its colossal vastness. Texas contains four naturally divided regions: the Mountains and Basins, the Great Plains, the North Central Plains, and the Gulf Coastal Plains.

Upton Sinclair was an author and socialist figure during the early 1900s. His place in history was forged by his many accomplishments in successful writing that exposed the horrors of the meat packing industry. He was also a famed critique of the government and offered ideas on its reformation and even ran for governor as a socialist but primarily gained he place in history for his book The Jungle . Upton Sinclair is a significant figure in history due to his outspoken nature and his exposure of the meat industry that led to a multitude of new regulations making food in America safer.

In January of 1848, a carpenter in California made a discovery that changed the history of North America, 2 cold nuggets. Shortly after people flocked towards California with the hopes of gaining big and forever changing their lives. The U.S. quickly made California into a state and benefited greatly from it. The California Gold Rush greatly enhanced the U.S. economy and greatly changed our country.

In the year 1821, Mexico had won independence from Spain. They allowed for Americans to settle in Texas, they were given the land that no Mexicans had yet to claim. The only catch was for Americans to become Mexican citizens, learn Spanish and convert to Catholicism. They never really became “Mexican”, they kept speaking English and were still the same Americans as before arriving in Texas.

The richness of El Paso, Texas relies on the vast diversity observed in each one of its citizens, which has opened the way for El Paso to develop as a multicultural city. Emigration has been one of the main factors that has diversified El Paso’s cultural background, citizens from all over the world have landed a foot over American territory and have made it theirs, several nationalities, several races, one community, one El Paso. Emigration has also caused the expansion of a plethora of traditions across the area, which has made El Paso’s culture an indispensable resource of the state of Texas. A diverse country, state or city is the one that values the difference in people and therefore recognizes that people with different backgrounds,

Texas Declaration of Independence were wrote in March 2, 1836. There are four authors of Texas DOI, appointed by the president of the Tejas, Richard Ellis. The main author, George Childress, was born on January 8, 1804, at Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Davidson Academy, the modern University of Nashville, in 1826. He married Margaret Vance on June 12, 1826. After, he began to practice law between September 1834 - November 1835.

The large state of California stretches almost 900 miles along the Pacific Ocean and the Mexican border. America has come such a long way to be known as the Melting Pot. The reason behind this is that America is extremely diverse and has many different people. Many of immigrants, both legal and illegal, from around the world, are migrating to here, in California. For some, this is an advantage. Economically, this means there are more consumers- more people to take advantage of the opportunities and resources that this state has to offer.

The California Gold Rush is a unique point in history that helped to shape the U.S. Without the gold rush, California may not be considered a part of the U.S. because it could easily have been acquired by Mexico. With the gold rush the U.S. wanted to obtain California both for its gold and to expand its growing population. Obtaining California was a benefit for many reasons. However, the part of the landscape of California was ruined in the process because many of its rivers were diverted destroying much of its natural landscape.

California may have gained statehood on September 9, 1850, but the roots that the early Spaniards created, has made California the mecca it is today. California is very diverse state it has desserts, mountains, and is next to the ocean. This creates endless possibilities for growth in many different economy drive industries to flood this great state. The major industries that have made California this mecca are the movie studio system, the aerospace industry, and the agriculture business. In my option the most important industry in California is the agriculture business, I will try not to bore you with my two cents on this topic.

The promise of a fortune, and the mass migration left a lasting legacy in California’s history. However, the biggest lasting legacy left was the processes that were time consuming, heath risking, and environmental damaging. The California
