Illness and diseases have always played a key role in the deaths of many lives throughout the years. Especially in past decades where there was no mediation or vaccinations that would help us combat the spread of certain diseases, such as whooping cough, influenza, chicken pox, mumps, polio, measles, etc. These vaccinations have significantly impacted the decrease of the mortality rate. Vaccinations have improved the quality of life, but the society that we live in is split. Many believe that vaccinations should be required and mandatory for everyone to receive shots. Others believe that shots create more harm than good. This controversy over mandatory or choice of receiving vaccinations has become a long-term debate over the years. For those …show more content…
The strategies used are from the many different strategies created by Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca’s and can be found in New Rhetoric. The two specific strategies I use are the listed under the category of types of objects of agreement. Today, the strategy of facts/truths are used to justify and make an argument credible, depend on the source of course. Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca’s (1969) New Rhetoric, describe a fact as “only if we can postulate uncontroverted, universal agreement with respect to it” (strategy #16). Also, it has mentioned that a fact can be questioned later and which can result in a hot debate if that fact is considered to be justifiable and true. If others who do not believe that fact to be true can counter and object that fact as true if it has other facts that reject it. Also facts can be characterized as “the product of communication, interaction, and negotiations, and most especially, as the final result of a disciplinary consensus” (Livnat, 2009, p.378). Facts and truths are a main strategy that is used many arguments, which helps justify one’s argument or help oppose another’s argument. Providing facts and truth are critical to help promote points, but “a “fact” loses its status when it becomes an ending point, rather than a starting point, for argument” (Perelman & Olbrechts-Tyteca, 1969, strategy

Throughout the course of history there has been a few basic pioneer traits which have become habitual and a way for humans to express themselves. One of the main and core habits which is an important way of expressing ourselves is through communication. Furthermore, as one becomes more precise about communication, they soon realize that they might not have the same views on certain topics. Hence, this leads to argumentation, which is the process of supporting an idea or simply a means for one to express and communicate themselves. Typically, an argument does not consist of name calling, and as a matter of fact disapproves ideas without evidence.
With the use of rhetoric both sides can come to a consensus.
The increase in the number of diseases in America is becoming problematic due to religious reasoning to not receive vaccinations. This is creating a problem in society because there are some that are not being treated for these diseases and since they aren 't being treated for it, they put others at a large risk of getting the diseases. The parents that choose to not have their child/children vaccination are making it unfair to their child and other children. If someone isn 't vaccinated then they are putting all in society at risk since they aren 't vaccinated.
One way that we can stay healthy is through vaccinations. Getting vaccinations should be forced onto those who are able to receive the vaccine because it keeps us healthy, keeps our loved ones safe, and
Argumentation uses rhetoric, the study of how messages influence people, to help develop the communication between the person with a claim and the audience.
There are factors that make the receiver favorable or unfavorable towards a recommended position, first is the acceptance between both the receiver 's initial position and the recommended one. The second is the strength of a certain argument. There are three heuristics principles, credibility, liking and conscious. Credibility heuristic is to make people believe, the liking heuristic is to agree with the type of people they like and the last conscious heuristic to make people agree on certain
By getting vaccinated people are not only looking out for themselves they are also looking out for the people close to them. When a person gets vaccinated they do not have to worry about getting sick and they also do not have to worry about being the reason their family and friends get sick either. Also vaccinations, can mean the difference between life and death. If a deadly disease is going around and a person is not vaccinated they have a higher chance of contracting the disease and getting deathly ill. People against vaccinations would say that vaccinations are what cause the illness, which is why they refuse to get them.
Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.
Unfortunately, the anti-vaccination movement is becoming increasingly popular due to individuals’ unfounded fears and imagined consequences associated with the idea of purposely inserting a disease into one’s body. However, despite one’s beliefs, vaccines are essential not only to a person’s well-being, but to the health of those around them. Mandatory vaccinations do not cause autism; rather, they save lives while upholding values of
Vaccinations When it comes to vaccinations, there are many different opinions on immunizing a child, especially when that child’s parent has a strong like or dislike towards vaccinating. Immunizations have existed for at least a thousand years and as technology advances more, there are new vaccines being designed to help protect our children from contracting contagious and sometimes deadly diseases, such as Bordetella pertussis, polio, and even influenza. For decades, all 50 states have required that parents vaccinate their children against various diseases, including polio and measles, as a prerequisite to enrolling them in public schools (Ciolli, 2008). Enrollment in public school requires up to date vaccinations in order to protect the children and even the adults from contracting and spreading a disease, possibly causing an epidemic.
First, I am going to talk about the reasons that vaccinations in America should be required. The vaccinations are not just for the individual themselves. They are for the entire community because it prevents a mass disease to spread throughout the house, community, country, or even world. If you get a vaccination, there is less of a chance to spreading it onto other people.
This is because disagreement depending on the situation hinders the process of consensus by creating a hiatus in the process of the development of knowledge. The pursuit of knowledge through disagreement could be obstructed by human emotions and the accompanied biases which transcend logical reasoning; religion and age-old traditions that virtually descended into the hands of their followers are common examples. In such cases, disagreement, either fails to penetrate human thinking or else, serves to further strengthen the existing belief. Similarly, reasoning (inductive or deductive) help the two parties demonstrate the truth in their arguments. Therefore, certain ways of knowing can influence the extent to which disagreement may aid or hinder the pursuit of knowledge.
These are the most important reasons in my opinion that all people should be vaccinated. Disease, what is a disease? A disease is either a bacterial or viral infection that can be spread from person to person. If you are vaccinated for that particular disease you have a less likely chace of getting it. In highly populated areas diseases are much
I never purposefully look to destroy someone’s facts but I do insist that they are sound and supported to remain validated. Looking for the pattern in everything helps show the truth in everything. Many different people come to those who are analytical to fact check others wishful thinking. Yet, those who are wishful thinkers tend to avoid the analytical as the will destroy their
