JonBenet Ramsey Case On the morning of December 29th, 1996, Patsy Ramsey got dressed and went downstairs to start getting prepared for the day. What she was not prepared for was the ransom note that was left for her at the bottom of the stairs. Jonbenet Ramsey, Patsy’s six year old daughter, had been kidnapped. The note said that if Patsy and the rest of her family did not listen and do what was on the note then Jonbenet would be killed. The abductors wanted a ransom of 118,000 dollars, the Ramseys’ were not allowed to contact anyone including the police, and that they were going to call the house in a few hours to collect their money. Patsy disregarded what the note said and called the police to report a kidnapping. Not even 8 hours later …show more content…
Everyone was watching, waiting to see how the case progressed. Everyone was waiting for the theories to lead somewhere and see who was going to be charged with the crime. It started on December 26th of 1996. Patsy Ramsey came down the stairs in the morning to start getting ready for the day, but she found a ransom note on the bottom of the stairs. The note itself was very detailed as it was almost three pages long. First it was addressed to John Ramsey and it was written by a group of individuals that said they represented a small foreign faction. Next is the amount of money they requested. They requested 118,000 dollars which is exactly the amount that John Ramsey got as a bonus that year. Not only was it an unusual amount to request but the way that it was requested was also a little weird; in the note they said’ “You will withdraw $118,000.00 from your account. $100,000 will be in $100 bills and the remaining $18,000 in $20 bills,” (Statement Analysis). The note also said that if the Ramseys deviated from the instructions that were provided their daughter would be killed and her remains would not be returned to them for proper burial. After Patsy had finished reading she disobeyed what the note said and called the police; not long after they …show more content…
He was the first officer that arrived at the scene that morning; he arrived, read over the ransom note, and conducted a quick search of the house. He found nothing that was of suspicion, but he said in interviews that were conducted later that he was only searching for a point of entry and he missed some rooms that he should have checked. While more officers and detectives arrived on the scene so did some of the Ramsey’s close friends. Not only did the officers leave the crime scene fairly open for others to be there, but they didn't even stop the friends of the Ramsey family from cleaning things up around the house. It has been said that a few friends got together and made breakfast in the Ramsey kitchen and then cleaned and disinfected the countertops. There could have been crucial information to the case in the kitchen and they were allowed to just wipe it away like it was nothing. When the detectives were getting statements from everyone a couple of officers noticed that John Ramsey seemed restless. They asked him and one of his friends if they wanted to do a search of the house; they needed to give him something to do to keep him occupied. John Ramsey made a beeline to the basement where, almost 8 hours after the initial call, he found Jonbenet wrapped in a white blanket in one of the rooms. He started to yell out to the others in the house; he carried
Some think the family wrote the note since it seemed to have been rewritten several times, but the intruder was most likely trying to write the best paper without giving any hints to as who it might be. The note gave them the option to have their child returned as said by CNN Library,“JonBenét's mother, Patsy, says she found a ransom note demanding $118,000 for JonBenét's return,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). The note had a time on it, the family couldn't call the police, but had to wait for a phone call. The majority think that since they never got a call, the family must have done it, but instead, it could have been the killers focusing on the escape. Hive provides us with key information about the note, “The ransom note warned the couple not to contact the police but to await a phone call between 8 and 10 that morning,” ("JONBENET RAMSEY").
One particular investigator by the name of Lacy speculated that the intruder was a guess in the Ramsey home for a Christmas dinner and probably return some hours later through a door that was left unlock and hid in the home where they written a ransom notice on the Ramsey’s note pad (Casarez, J., 2016). Despite the challenge of the investigation, there were error that lead the crime scene to be compromise. First, the Ramsey’s expose to much infomation for the media to share with the public, but they were reluctant to talk with the law
December 26, 1996, Boulder Colorado, the day after Christmas, six-year JonBenet Ramsey is found dead in her basement with a three-page handwritten ransom note demanding $118,000, from someone claiming they kidnapped JonBenet and they would receive a call the next morning at at 10am, the note was addressed to John Ramsey and asked for the exact amount of John's Christmas bonus that year (Casarez). She died of a skull fracture and strangulation and nobody knows who killed her; her mom parents, John and Patricia Ramsey, were under much suspicion for her murder and to some people still are today. JonBenet had a big brother named Burke, and he’s one of the most suspected people; he was only 9 years old at the time of her death so it’s very unlikely he killed his little sister. Burke stayed quiet about her death for a long time but 20 years later in 2016 he spoke for the first time to CBS.
The police investigating the crime said that the way the body was placed seemed like a cover-up for the crime, but could have also been moved by the father who found and picked her up, and that the ransom note was staged by Patsy Ramsey. In 2002 the DA reinvestigated the case, this time they looked at people that were not related to JonBenet as suspects. In 2008 the DA sent out an apology letter to the ramseys declaring that the family was completely cleared from the crime, and in February 2009 the Boulder Police reopened the investigation. There are two main theories about who killed JonBenet Ramsey one of the two is the Intruder Theory, Smits Theory was a theory that someone had broken into the ramseys
On March 1, 1932, Charles Augustus Lindbergh, the 20 month old son of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh was abducted from their home in New Jersey. Lindbergh found a ransom note from the kidnapper in the windowsill of the baby’s room. Lindbergh searched around the house and grounds finding impressions in the ground near the baby’s window, and pieces of a ladder. During the police investigation no usable fingerprints or footprints were found. Upon examination of the note, the handwritten document contained many spelling and grammatical errors.
JonBenét Ramsey, a six-year-old beauty queen daughter of Patsy Ramsey and John Ramsey found murdered in her home on December 26, 1998. This murder has yet to be solved, and as the years go by, the case seems to get colder and colder. As a result, there have been many conspiracy theories in this case. Many people have started to believe that an intruder murdered her, but what if it was someone in the house? Maybe someone very familiar with this home.
Shirley Kinge was a 54 year old mother who was accused of helping her son burn down a house. In the house, a couple and their two children were found with pillowcases on their heads with gunshots to the back of their heads. Her son Michael Kinge killed the family and then set the house on fire. There was a tip that he was the one who committed the crime and when the police showed up to arrest him, he proceeded into firing at the cops. He was killed in the gunfire.
First of all, before explaining this crazy story, just know that this case is unsolved and will probably stay unsolved. So, on December 26th, 1996, Patsy Ramsey awoke to find her six year old daughter missing and a ransom note demanding $118,000 to get her back. In complete frantic, Patsy called 911. Later on in the day, the body was found behind a locked door in the basement.
The only people that knew about that room were the Ramsey family. Along with this, John Ramsey, the father, was the one to find the body, right after the police searched the house for hours. The police never knew this room existed until after John found the body. Burke was also said to have a big history of anger issues. More examination led to finding stun gun marks and Burke’s DNA on JonBenet’s body.

Police were called the following morning to report that their daughter had gone missing. Police found a ransom note demanding 118,000 dollars, this never came to a complete investigation. Later that afternoon Ramsey's body had been found under a blanket in the basement. The detectives didn't do such a good job with continuing this case. There are multiple theories to this case.
Immediately after reading it Patricia Ramsey called the police reporting JonBenet as missing. The police arrived at their house and less than 8 hours later her body was found in the basement of their Colorado home. The suspects of this horrendous crime are John Ramsey, Patricia Ramsey, and her 9-year old brother Durke Ramsey. The killing of an innocent girl will haunt the history of America until this case is solved. So, who committed this horrendous crime?
In September 1993 Christopher Simmons who was at the time seventeen years old, discussed his wish to burglarize and murder someone. Simmons had even described the manner in which he would kill, he would throw someone from a bridge. Simmons also believed that if arrested he would get away with it because he was a juvenile. On September 8th, 1993 after meeting a friend’s house, Simmons and his friend Charlie Benjamin broke into Shirley Crook’s house. They entered through an open window in the back.
The planning of the murder was to kill her and make it look like a person from the outside killed her. When she was killed the next morning her mother Patsy Ramsey called her friends to come into the murder scene. When they came into the house they brought in footprints and a lot of fingerprints. Then the detectives could not find a whole lot of finger prints from the suspect. The father John Benet brought the body up to the living room then moved her again to the
One of very first mistakes the Department made was that they did not search the house very thoroughly, nor did put the house on secure the home and the evidence within the home after the first arrived on the sense. The Police department should have made sure that nobody enter the home, nor left the Ramsey home, before they had the opportunity to search it, and question everyone in the home at the time of the event. With no doubt if the police would have searched the house when they first arrived on the sense, they would have found JonBenet in the cellar of the basement in the Ramsey home wrapped in a blanket. Allowing John Ramsey and a close friend to search the house for missing house hold items, and that allowed him to find his deceased daughter. The Bounder Police Department also allowed family and friends to enter the home,
