Moreno Valley High School Argument Essay

Midlothian Middle School has been the place covering up hundreds of pieces of history these past hundreds of years. So much history that one could have a hard time memorizing all of it. There is one story though, one that stuck around. Always there, knocking on the back of your head asking to come into your mind like when someone knocks on your door asking to come in. The spot where Midlothian Middle school stands today sure has been a hotspot for some interesting history.

From the start of segregation or even slavery, African Americans have been treated differently, without any respect, hatred, and so much more. Many adults and students who have been through so much, but, the bravest of them all were nine of them who had the courage to be the only African Americans at Little Rock High School, an all white school. These students were Melba Pattillo, Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Minnijean Brown, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Wall, Jefferson Thomas, Gloria Ray, and Thelma Mothershed. Before the students got enrolled into Little Rock High School, they went to two different schools. Carlotta, Jefferson, and Gloria went to Paul Laurence Dunbar Junior High School in Little Rock, Arkansa.

My favorite sentence from this reading had to be, "The arms were in sad shape, because everybody was always sitting on them, but they were pretty comfortable chairs." (Salinger 18). In the short sentence, I furthermore get a glimpse of Holden's voice and personality, this time by seeing him contradict himself. He describes how sad looking and beat up the chair is, yet goes on to say how nice and comfortable it is. This to me is a very important clue to Holden's overall personality in regard to life.

Fremont High School is located in Los Angeles, California, “sprawled across a city block.” The school enrolls about 5,000 students every year but only 3,300 are in attendance every day. The students read at an elementary school level and are not provided the necessities to succeed. The school is lacking many resources, such as, classrooms, restrooms, and lunchrooms. The school lacks at least 15 restrooms that the law requires.

When one thinks of the civil rights movement, the first thoughts are often of events that took place south of the Mason-Dixon line. Images of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., marches, boycotts, and desegregation instantly pop into one 's head. Though the north was a much more welcoming environment for African Americans, it still had its fair share of inequality to balance . One place this struggle played out was Proviso East High School, located in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois called Maywood. My family is from Chicago.

Jamie persuaded and shared his vision by giving real time example of processes that can be used to obtain funds for education students in the school system; he stated that an additional $6000 is all that is required to support school programs to teach students healthy eating habits.

For all the cuts that have been made to school foods, six percent has not been a big decrease. School lunches don’t provide any nutritional value for the kids. The purpose for a school lunch is to provide kids with a dependable lunch that has good proportional amounts and nutrition value. The obesity rates need to drop higher and faster in the next ten years if they want to make cuts out of our meals and the meals need to be proportioned to size.

In a result of this many people, health officials, and parents are complaining because there has been an increase of child obesity. Yes, one may understand that our budget is low and healthy foods tend to always cost quite a bit more, yet that should not mean anything because this is an individual’s health we are talking about. In the newspaper article, “No Lunch Left Behind,” by Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, the authors make it a point that, “Cash-strapped parents should be able to rely on the government to contribute to their children’s physical well-being, not to the continued spread of youth obesity, Type 2 diabetes and other diet related problems”(10). Waters and Heron want to prove that a good, free lunch can exist, although people need to be willing to help in one way or another and contribute to a making a healthy meal being provided at school. What about the students who are suffering from a disease already? What do they eat at school, knowing they have to watch what they eat on a daily basis?

Our school lunches are the most important meal that students get and it would be unfair if students to take away their favorite meals.
