Miscommunication in Romeo and Juliet Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Every violation of truth is not only a sort of suicide in the liar, but is a stab at the health of human society” (The Best Quotes About Lies and Lying). People in this world lie all the time because they think that they are helping instead of telling the truth. When the truth comes out in the society people are more hurt than if a person just told the truth instead of lying. In William Shakespeare's, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet die from miscommunication between the characters, not fate. The first sign of miscommunication is when the nurse and Juliet are talking about Romeo’s banishment, and this spirals into confusion that cause Juliet and Romeo’s …show more content…
When Juliet sees Paris, he is asking all these questions about loving him, Juliet never tells him she is married causing him to want to still marry her. "That may be, sir, when I may be a wife" (IV.1.19). Juliet will not tell Paris how she feels causing him to want to marry her, if she just told him the truth about her feelings and wasn’t arrogant about it, she would still be alive. During this all Friar Laurence is there listening to Juliet talk to Paris and he never jumps in to tell Paris that she is married. "The correlation between the behaviors of the friar and of other characters indicates that accepting Paris, defiance of conventional expectation is wholesale. The correlation also underscores the friar's refusal to abide by God's will. He prefers the author o you of 'My will be done.' Taking an active role in the affairs of men, he shows his discontent with leaving matters in the hands of Providence" (Blooms, 72). The Friar is a big part about miscommunication in this play and this is a big part of it, he is planning on still marrying Paris and Juliet because he ever got permission to marry Romeo and to Juliet, causing him either to get in trouble or continue to lie. It gets to the point where he gives Juliet a potion to make her sleep and disappear so he never gets
Clarifying that the two were married, would have prevented Lord Capulet from forcing Juliet to marry Paris, and faking her death. Being an adult figure and holy man, it is the Friar’s responsibility to tell the truth and take the reigns on the situation. However, he fails at that and does not feel compelled to tell the Capulets that their only daughter has not actually died. When Juliet seeks guidance from him in her time of weakness, instead of devising a logical plan that could set things straight, he comes up with an elaborate plan with multiple factors that could go wrong. Once his high-risk plan is in motion and things begin to go astray when Romeo does not get the message of the plan, the Friar is obligated to resolve the mess he has caused.
He didn’t prevent the two from marrying each other and didn’t have guidance in their walk along each others sides, in result the characters Romeo and Juliet perished. Romeo came to Friar for guidance and in seeking himself getting married to Juliet. Friar did what he was asked, this set up the emotion for Juliet and her not wanting to get married to Paris because it is a sin to get married again once already married. Moreover Friar gave Juliet a sleeping potion with no guidance at all and Romeo totally mystified in thought of why and how his beloved Juliet died. Friar being lazy and not telling Romeo right away set up him sprinting to Juliet and seeing her and thinking she is dead and her wanting to be with Juliet , he kills himself with poison.
Capulet went on and on about how he had an ungrateful daughter and that “[he’ll] pardon [her]” if “she will not wed” (III.v.189). In other words, if the Juliet did not marry Paris, he wanted nothing to do with her, not even “house with her” (III.v.190). With this further isolation, Juliet felt forced to go out and do what she pleased, and that was to be with Romeo, so she followed the friar’s plan. With the fail of plans, when Juliet wakes, Romeo is already dead, leaving Juliet no other choice but to also commit suicide to be with Romeo
Juliet declines the marriage between her and Paris as stated, “I will not marry yet, and, when I do,I swear it shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate, rather than Paris.” This shows how Juliet never wanted to marry paris, and was deeply in love with
In life we are taught to follow our own dreams, and to follow our own path. However on this path we call life we can often hit many bumps. As you walk on it people will try to knock you off, and tell you which way to go, don’t be fooled. Misguidance can lead us into a horrible tragedy. I believe that the horrible tragedy that happened to Romeo and Juliet was caused from misguidance by their parents, Romeo and Juliet’s parents are the ones to blame for for their deaths, and I believe that my statement is correct.

( II, ii, l. 121-122) She even agrees to get married to Romeo the very next day. Juliet’s rebellious streak is yet again evident when she says she will not marry Paris. The Nurse appeared to be the most affected because she raised juliet since she was a baby. The Nurse lost her own daughter so juliet was valuable to her. She felt heartbroken and and miserable. She said, “Most lamentable day,
During act 2, scene 3, Friar Lawrence tells Romeo, “They stumble that runs fast.” Through the advice, Friar Lawrence advises Romeo to not be hasty and think with his head before acting on his impulses or else there will be unfavorable consequences. Due to Romeo’s stubbornness and youthful immaturity, he does not heed Friar Lawrence’s advice and this sets the stage for a tragedy. Friar Lawrence’s advice reverberates throughout the play as this foreshadows the outcome of one of Shakespeare’s greatest and most well known plays and even in today’s society this remains true. The advice told by Friar Lawrence concerns the many characters shown throughout the play and may very well be true in the audience’s life as we speak.
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was a tragic play that started with a young couple falling madly in love, but quickly turned to the death of both of them. From early on in the play, it seemed as if the fate of Romeo and Juliet was already determined, as they were referred to as “star-crossed lovers”, and the tragic fate of these lovers was unraveled through the poor decisions of many characters throughout this play. Though many people can be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, Lord Capulet and Romeo are the most responsible for the tragic ending of this play. Lord Capulet was the most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. First of all, one trait that puts Lord Capulet at the blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet is that he was indecisive.
Hasty Decisions Of Romeo and Juliet Decisions that we make can have some major consequences and cause conflict in our everyday life, but decisions made in literary stories could have major consequences and conflict as well. Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a great example of how hasty decisions can affect the characters and the story plot. She is not obedient to her parents like she used to.
