Macbeth: Tragic Hero, or Mere Monster?

There are several criteria to meet the classical definition of a Tragic Hero as defined by Aristotle. One of them is a lapse of judgment causing the character to do something stupid. Another is bad luck brought on by their lapse of judgment. Another is recognizing that this happened due to their own actions. And finally, getting a fate worse than they deserved.

First, the character must have a lapse in judgment and do something wrong/stupid. Macbeth certainly did this on multiple occasions. For starters, he allowed his wife to convince him to kill King Duncan. Second, he allowed his ambition to get the best of him and got too greedy about being king. His
