Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Freedom

The Declaration of Independence states three unalienable rights and those are the only three rights that should be stated in it. Many will disagree with that opinion but this paper will soon prove why the three unalienable rights stated in the constitution are the only rights that should be stated. The three main points as to why those three rights are the only rights that should be stated are 1) They only needed to state three rights so as to show why they were a free country. 2)

A person could argue that freedom creates its own problems and that people are at times abusive of these. However, we live in a country that has these freedoms so valued, it can be found in our national anthem. While there may be always abuses made upon it, we can only hope that the United States will always continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Understanding the importance of freedom and why we have to continually fight for it, is to look at all the ways it has been fought for.

Freedom can have many meetings to many people. Freedom to some may mean to be free in a trapped society filled with rules and regulations. Freedom can be revealed to the naked eye in things such as laws, organizations, and even clubs. Freedom to me is living your life however you choose, wherever you choose, and whenever you choose to do so. Angela Davis had once lost those privileges.

Continuing in the paragraph the document reads, “That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government…” (Declaration). Freedom is a type of living that everyone in the world would appreciate having. Some people live in a communist country or a country where freedom do not exist and everything is controlled by the government. With many rules and regulations proposed by the government, people feel that it takes away from their freedoms. Nonetheless, America was established upon freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. People want to live this way along with protection from danger.

Freedom has been the central belief of America since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Since this day, America has worked hard to keep the idea that America is the “land of the free.” However, throughout the construction of this nation, freedom was defined differently by each person. Freedom to African Americans meant liberty from enslavement and land ownership. Freedom to Europeans meant freedom of religion and government.

Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. The foundation of America is freedom. Freedom from Britain. However, the freedom is limited to white males who own property. When colonists started to immigrate to America, they wanted to escape from under the rule of Britain.

Webster Dictionary defines freedom as a “political right”. To me, freedom is much more than that. Freedom gives me and the people of America the right to do anything we want; it allows us to be ourselves no matter where you come from, or who you are. Unfortunately, America has not always been this way; people of different races were treated like trash on the sidewalk. Frederick Douglass had a first-hand experience to this treatment, and he knew what it was like before America allowed everyone to actually be “free”.

As Susan B. Anthony once expressed, “Independence is happiness.” The Declaration of Independence declares the inalienable rights guaranteed to each and every American. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”(Jefferson). When he or she makes reference to the term independence, its meaning can be interpreted in two different ways. The most common interpretation is the meaning of freedom.

It is often said that we learn from our past, but are we really honest with ourselves? Inequalities have existed in our society from slavery to inequality of women, today we still have people who face prejudice and inequality every day. Consequently If we really learn from the past, why should we demand the freedom that was already earned from our forefathers? Why can we all live by the belief that “all men are created equal ? why can 't believe that we always had to fight for our rights for these past decades and tired of it ?

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that and enhances the freedom of others.” What this quote means is it takes hard work to be free. To start with the Declaration of freedom says are, First is freedom of speech and expression everywhere in the world. This means that no matter how vulgar or bias words you say you all ways Furthermore this right means that you can have religious freedom and you can be in any religion you want without any restraints. This first quote says this "The first freedom of speech and expression-everywhere in the world".

Freedom is a right. Freedom was given to us by the Founding Fathers. Freedom gives us no restrictions. The First Amendment gives us citizens the right to freedom of speech, allowing us to talk about our beliefs without restriction. Freedom gives us the right to help others through hard times and improve our communities.

What is freedom? Is it an absolute right or is it something we can live without it? People born to be free. Throughout history freedom defined differently according to different cultures and different period of time. Freedom shows an alteration cultures to culture.

In 1787, our founding father’s agreed to write a list of principals for keeping people free. Freedom must be limited. People can not just say they are free. You can not just kill or violate just for freedom. There should be respect for people’s wants and needs.
