Jurassic Park

The novel Within the novel, Oliver, a chubby seventh-grader who pretends to be dimwitted, but is an evil genius and the third-richest person in the world. _ _Oliver wants to win the student council president election in an attempt to crush his father, whom he despises, pride. Oliver and his henchman, Lionel Sheldrake, do everything they can to win. __ To begin with, the novel is an example of the comedy element, situational, since Oliver continually abuses money to get whatever he wants.

Jurassic Park is a science fiction novel written by Michael Crichton in 1990 that was made into a film directed by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg’s use of advanced technology won the film numerous awards for best special and sound effects. Jurassic park has revolutionized the development of animatronic visual effects and computer-generated imagery and is now one of the most iconic films of all time. While both the novel and the film did well on their own, they’re very different from each other. One of the major contrasts is in Spielberg’s illustration of the owner of Jurassic Park and founder of InGen, John Hammond.

Dennis Nedry and John Hammond wanted to get rich, while Sal wanted to see her mother; however all wanted to complete their mission no matter what it takes. Dennis Nedry was experienced with the computer, and was one of the computer programmers for Jurassic Park. A reader must know this to understand what role he played in Jurassic Park. The book states, “Nedry had mumbled about doing computers on the island.” (Crichton)

In John Steinbeck’s 1930’s classic novella, Of Mice and Men, we are introduced to one of the main characters, Lennie Small. Lennie is developed as a mentally handicapped, who doesn’t know his strengths and weaknesses, who forgets everything, and who acts like a child. By this development, Steinbeck dehumanizes Lennie in order to show the mentally handicapped population has no chance of achieving the American Dream. Lennie doesn’t know his strengths and weakness, and how to control his strengths. At the end of chapter five, Curley’s wife comes into the barn, where Lennie is alone.

Ridley Scott, a highly renowned film director who is known for such works as Blade Runner and the recent Prometheus, reached fame through his atmospheric, and highly concentrated visual style. Scott achieved commercial breakthrough with his 1979 horror classic Alien, which presented the audience with its revolutionary style and award winning visual effects. Lead actress Sigourney Weaver plays the role of Ellen Ripley, warrant officer of the films main setting, the space towing vehicle Nostromo. Weaver accepted the unusual role as a lead female actor in an otherwise male-dominated genre of science fiction, which sparked the interest of critics everywhere, helping the film reach its critically acclaimed title. Ray Bradbury used figurative language to describe the Tyrannosaurus Rex in “A Sound of Thunder. ’’ Ray Bradbury compared the legs to pistons, this means that the Tyrannosaurus Rex has strong legs. He compared it’s eyes to ostrich eggs, this means that the dinosaur has big eyes. He also compared muscles to thick ropes, this means that the dino has big thighs.

“I stepped fearfully in: the apartment was empty, and my bedroom was also freed from its hideous guest.” this is where the monster gets loose after realizing that his own creator is terrified of him. As the book progresses Victor does come into contact with his creation but the monster does not kill victor but when realizing that Victor won't be making the monster a companion the monster decides to kill henry, Victors old friend. In Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs escape because when Nedry leaves to deliver the stolen embryos he left the security with no one watching it, so when Nedry dies nobody is there to re activate the electric fence leaving it for the dinosaurs able to escape their “cages”. With the dinosaurs out on the loose countless others die as well, while Hammond is out on a walk trying to fix the park and decides to salvage he gets injured doing so and ends up being attacked and eaten by a pack of compys.

He uses juxtaposition when he says the movie will be “Jurassic Park meets Friday meets The Pursuit of Happyness,” creating a creature movie with the influence of “hood boys” (Smith, Dinosaurs in the Hood, line 2). In the last three lines of the first stanza, Smith uses imagery to paint the scene of an African American boy playing with a toy dinosaur as he gazes out his window to see a T.Rex because “there has to be a T. Rex.” Smith is saying that if this was a stereotype filled movie it would have to have a T.rex in it due to the overuse of that certain beast, but leaves the question open to if the dinosaur is stereotyped what African American cliches of the boy have to be in the

Jared’s careless body language is the strongest factor that implicates this reaction by viewers. Jared knew that he was being filmed during this particular scene and made the conscious decision to act childish. It seems obvious that Jared is trying to stray away from serious work that could benefit him in the end. Title Researchers and scientists have constructed extensive research on dinosaur’s extinction. Speculation instead of real evidence seems common in most theories about the dinosaurs’ extinction. However, Jay Gould’s essay “Sex, Drugs, and the Extinction of Dinosaurs” is the complete opposite of speculation over evidence. Rather, Gould uses the mix of persuasive techniques, such as rhetorical questions, logos, along with profound evidence to not only disapprove of other theories but convince readers of his place on the dinosaur’s extinction.

In 1961, John F. Kennedy took the oath in office to become the nation's 35th president which made him the first Roman Catholic president. Along with taking the oath in office, he made a speech that still to this day has made an impact on our lives. He sought to inspire our nation. With the respectful eloquence John F. Kennedy(JFK) uses in his inaugural address he makes it his own applying emotion and power to his speech.

The storyline tries to make us to think about what is going in the story. The characters need to come up with how they are going to take down the dinosaur. Time traveling can affect many of the characters in certain ways. For example, In Sound of Thunder Eckels accidentally falls off the path which affects the timeline. Eckels learned that there were consequences to what he did.
