Within this piece of literacy work, James Braddock, who is the main character in the movie Cinderella Man, which is based off the book written by Jeremy Schaap, and Jurgis Rudkus, who is a fictional character from the book The Jungle written by Upton Sinclair. Cinderella Man takes place in New Jersey right before the Great Depression hits. The Jungle begins with Jurgis’ family coming to Chicago to work and they find a boarding house to live in and jobs within Packingtown to work at. Although Jurgis Rudkus and James Braddock are both hard working men, they have a wide variety of similarities and differences in physical traits, family dynamics, and personal values.

Have you ever wondered what it is like living in an Utopian society? I am going to be comparing and contrasting the endings of two stories showing the hardships of trying to live and create a perfect society. Animal Farm by George Orwell and Anthem by Ayn Rand both show two very different, and also similar points of view of trying to live in a perfect society. Behind both of these books, they just want to achieve a perfect world. These books show that sometimes trying to make everyone equal only makes you unequal.

The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.

It is crazy to think how pop culture can point to the things it works so hard to reject, but in the case of Divergent by Veronica Roth, parallels between it and the gospel abound. Divergent is set in a dystopian Chicago in which the citizens are divided into 5 factions; the brave, the selfless, the intelligent, the honest and the kind. The story follows Tris Prior, a sixteen year old girl who realizes her Divergence, or possession of characteristics of more than one faction. The novel and film adaption of Divergent include many similarities to the gospel, notably the emphasis on a choice of commitment, the concept that we need more than one characteristic to grow, that salvation is brought about through sacrifice, and that humankind is at its heart, evil.

Battle to the Death: Cinema Vs. Novel Some of the best movies are based on books. One movie based on a book is The Hunger Games. While the movie is entertaining, it is very different from the book.

Cinderella Man directed by Ron Howard is a movie that takes place during the Great Depression in the 1930’s is about a American boxer, James Braddock, that has to survive with little money after getting hurt and not being able to box. Jurgis Rudkus and James Braddock are very similar throughout this book and movie. They go through hard times, but in the end they get what they want and have a much better life.

The common thought that people have about Disney is happiness and merriment. Ridley Pearson provides an opposing view in the book “Kingdom Keepers II” by showing the darkest parts of what we thought we all knew. Pearson allows this to occur by taking the reader through the lives of kids who work as DHIs(Disney Host Interactions) that become holographic people that fight the villains. Pearson not only does this to show his opinion, but he uses it to intrigue the reader enough to want to keep reading. This fictional fantasy about Disney and Disney parks are mysterious and allows an appeal to readers.

The short story “Harrison Bergeron”: by Kurt Vonnegut and the film 2081 are alike in many ways. One similarity is that one of the ballerinas went up on the stage next Harrison. In the movie the ballerinas description and appearance matched how they described her in the book.. The book also matches the visual appearance of Harrison as his handicaps looked as if they were just welded together after they had been pulled out of a yard full of scrap metal. The actions in the movie and the book where practically synchronized.

Alienation is an experience of being isolated from a group or a society. It is something that affects people everyday at school, work or any social events. The theme of alienation is showed in The Lego Movie when the character tries very hard to meet society’s standards. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 alienation is showed when no one listens or pays attention to the protagonist. The Lego Movie and Fahrenheit 451 does a good job demonstrating the theme of alienation with the usage of character emotions, feelings and society’s standards and labels throughout the movie and the novel.

Disney has successfully given viewers of their movies warm and comforting feelings because there is always a happy ending. Disney productions have also taught young children the difference between good and evil. Films such as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and “Cinderella” are two of their earlier movies that are vastly different, but share similarities as well. For instance, both Cinderella and Snow White are beautiful princesses that are forced to be maids and have similar antagonists in their stories, which are evil step mothers who are jealous of their step daughter 's beauty.

Books vs. Movies The constant battle between watching a movie and reading a book has lead to many disagreements. Many valid arguments can be made in favor of each as well as each having it’s own disadvantages, yet the question still remains unanswered. Books and movies have many similarities and differences when it comes to experience, development, and imagery. To begin, there are a variety of reasons that make movies not as good as books. The experience, the depth, and the imagery are the three main aspects one needs in order to understand why movies are not as good as books.
