On Sunday, February 5th, 2012, at approximately 6:30 pm, I and my forensic team were dispatched to an arson fire scene at 8119 189th Street Court East in Graham, Washington. Upon arrival, I entered the rental home of Josh Powell which was entirely burned and damaged. As I walked through the residence, I found out the point of origin was from near the living room as I and my investigators found one empty gasoline can. The capacity limit was five gallons. It is to my belief that Josh Powell saturated his rental house with gasoline. This was the cause of the fire as well the combustible materials within the home also strengthened the fire to its maximum. My forensic team and I made a perimeter around and secured the burned house to prohitbit bystanders or anybody to enter the crime scene. As I walked throughout the residence, I discovered three bodies that were severely burned. One of them was identified as Josh Powell. The other two were identified as his two sons, Braden and Charlie. Josh Powell was 36 years old at the time of death. His two sons, were 5 and 7 years old when at their time of death. Also, a red hatchet was discovered one of the hands of Josh Powell. Chopping injuries were also discovered on the neck and head of the two boys indicating that Josh Powell used his hatchet to intentionally injure his sons …show more content…
It is said that he had a brother, Michael Powell who is also accused in the disappearance of his wife, for alledgedly assisting in the possible murder by disposing of her body, could benefit from the murder-suicide the life insurance policy of Josh Powell. This is another possible motive to the crime of arson. A secret sophisticated computer encryption communication between the two brothers was uncovered by investigators during the disappearance of his wife leading to the possible fact the Powell brothers were responsible for the crime (Thompson,
In the controversial court case, the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, many believe the family happens to be the killers; however, the court show take their focus away from the Ramsey family. The neighbors said the Ramsey’s spoiled their children and raised them the best they could, but others say different. The majority of the people that know about this case have their minds set on the parents being the murderers, but there is other evidence that could steer law enforcement away from the family. Evidence was found that night that could show the family did it, but other evidence possibly shows someone else. Since the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the finding of a ransom note demanding $118,000, random DNA tests, and confession by an individual have

The fire in the Josh Powell arson/ homicide case began in the living room, where the bodies of Josh Powell, and his children Charles Powell and Braden Powell. That would be the incipient stage. Next to the three bodies, two empty ten gallon gasoline cans were found. It is believed that Josh Powell had spread the gasoline around the residence before the children got to the house for the visit. The emergent smoldering happened all around the house where the gas was spread.
The technicians documented the time & date of the call, & began to videotape the fire. While the firefighters were fighting the fire, the forensic technicians took many pictures for the meantime, & also statements from witnesses. After the Forensic technicians spoke to Griffin, & hearing her statement during the arrival at the residence, they learned quickly that the fire was incendiary due to the smell of gas, & a quick explosion. Law enforcement was called, & the fire scene was quickly taped off as a crime scene then investigations began. With the proper safety equipment worn, investigators began to search for the fires Point-of-Origin, which was in the back bedroom where two five gallon gas cans were found.
Josh Powell was a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife Susan Powell in 2009; despite of disappearance Josh was never charged. Josh at that point in time had custody of two boys Charlie and Braden. Josh’s father Steven Powell also lived with josh and the two boys. (Comb, 2012) On December 7th, 2009 Josh and Susan failed to drop the kids off at daycare in Utah and Susan herself failed to show up to work that morning.
While there is no physical evidence, in Susan’s case, that ties Josh to her disappearance, there is substantial implied evidence that makes him an incredibly likely suspect. Implied evidence means evidence that is found based on Josh’s behavior both before and after Susan’s disappearance. One piece of this evidence that was found was Susan’s cell phone in Josh’s van the day after she went missing. This confused the police because why would she leave her phone if she planned on going out by herself? Police quickly pointed Josh out as the prime suspect, considering his, and his two childrens’, testimony placed all four of them camping the night of Susan’s disappearance.
This trial did not go any further, as they were later released because of the lack of evidence the investigators had found during their investigation to prove that the fire was their fault. The insurance company paid Max and Isaac about $400 per casualty in the fire, making big money (Wikipedia “Consequences and Legacy”). But how did the fire start? Was it an accident, or was it an act
Everyone assumed it was him even his own lawyer David Martin the lawyer stated that Mr. Willingham deserved to be sentenced for murder. They brought up his criminal history which nothing heinous these crimes included burglary of a camera, and his dad even stated that he hooked up cable for kids which was not allowed. Next, they allowed someone who was in jail and on anti-depressants testify that Mr. Willingham admitted that he started the fire on purpose. Finally, the next-door neighbor said that Mr. Willingham seemed more concern with moving his car then trying to save his kids. This man was put to death and I honestly believe he was an innocent man that loved his children.
Kaitlyn Kline Professor DiFatta Business Law 01 February 2015 The West Memphis three is a case that created quite a stir when it occurred back in the 1993 when the crime occurred and then again in 1994 when there was a conviction. There was a wrongful conviction made when three young men were convicted in this murder case. However, no one questioned it because they were seen as fitting the description of a criminal based upon outside appearances. There were three young boys that were found murdered in a ditch.
In an effort to protect Burke Ramsey after Patsy and John Ramsey saw that JonBenet Ramsey had succumbed to the injury they fashioned an elaborate plan to cover up her death. The way JonBenet Ramsey was placed within the wine cellar, draped with her blanket, indicated an intimate relationship with the person(s) that placed her there. The elaborate handwritten letter detailing the exact amount of a recent bonus that John Ramsey had received as ransom when he was known to be valued at much more. The letter stated it was from a foreign faction that did not like the American government explaining that their actions were not personal (Ross, 2013). Additionally, the ransom demand would have reasonably been substantially higher if it was, in fact, a terrorist type organization.
Eric Smith at the age of thirteen tortured and murdered a four year old child named Derrick Robie at a nearby woods. Eric was sentenced to nine years to life in prison. Eric was convicted for second degree murder. His reasoning for the murder was because Eric just wanted to see someone being hurt rather than him. The Robie family were suffering knowing one day he will be released back into society.
