John F. Kennedy, also known as JFK, is perhaps the most-loved president in American history. Our 35th President of the United States served from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Although he was young and did not get to serve his full term he accomplished many great things. All these documents embody the beginning of an admirable presidency and the commencement of a new hope for a nation gone forlorn.     Kennedy served at the pinnacle of the Cold War and spent a large fragment of his presidency focusing on managing relations with the Soviet Union.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) was born on May 29 1917 in Brooklyn Massachusetts. JFK is a game changer because he wanted to save people’s lives by abolishing the federal death penalty. He also prohibited racial discrimination and laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. JFK was the 35th president of the United States. He served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate before becoming the 35th president.

John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 by Lee Oswald, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. Kennedy, known commonly by JFK, was elected in 1961 to be the 35th and youngest president of the United States of America (John F. Kennedy Bibliography 1). He was seen a role model to those around him and to millions across the country. JFK’s assassination was unjustified because he fought for civil rights and became a great and loved leader, although some hated hated his efforts. JFK was a very significant civil rights activist.

However, U.S spy planes soon identified evidence of the nuclear missile sites being rapidly installed in Cuba. As a result, the U.S quarantined (set a zone around) Cuba where ships carrying weapons could not go. If Cuba had missiles, they could threaten other countries and make them submit to Cuba which would result in them becoming communist. Numerous Soviet transports stopped dead in the water just outside the quarantine line. In April 1963, the United States and the Soviet Union came to an agreement.

Most students, including myself, walk through campus having their headphones in their ears, coffee in hand, and eyes on the ground in front of them. They use Memorial Union as a study spot or a place to grab Starbucks, and use the columns on the quad to sit and relax in the sunlight. Little do they realize that the architecture surrounding them memorialize so much historical events and people. It’s unfortunate, but so many of us with our busy schedules rarely take the time to read and investigate the plaques, inscriptions, and history built into this campus. During this memorial tour around both MU and Columbia, I learned to notice and appreciate the intentions of places I had been numerous times.

President John F. Kennedy impacted America in the most significant way in comparison to other presidents of the United States. He had already started impacting America even before he was in office. Then, while he was in office, he made massive changes and worked on different policies and foreign crisis. One event that occurred during his presidency that greatly affected America was his assassination. After his assassination, many changes were also made that are credited to John F. Kennedy as a president.

The 35th president of the United States intrigues me the most because of his influence on the people of America, specifically voters. John F. Kennedy most certainly did not get everything right, but he influenced the voters in a way Americans had never seen. Kennedy was excellent at delivering speeches and giving Americans a familiar face to trust. He was personable and seemed honest, and that was good enough for the people of America. Not to mention, he was a total babe.

His health issues gave him bad back problems and sleeping with so many women made it really easy for him to get a bad reputation. JFK had many strengths and weaknesses that could have hurt him in the long run or put him really far ahead. One of his weaknesses was that fact that he had back problems like when Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard say “His ordeal with the Amagiri exacerbated his back problems, and he has even endured surgery” (34). Also, they state that he would use crutches or a cane to get around most time. This would be a weakness because it would make it harder for him to be in public with the fact that he

During the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis took place. It was when two superpowers were close to causing a nuclear war. Its main origin was when the United States invaded Cuba, on April 10, 1961; which is also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion. After the invasion, previous Prime Minister; Fidel Castro of Cuba, was ‘paranoid’ because he felt like America was planning another attack. So in order to protect his nation, he sought military and economic help from the Soviet Union.

John F Kennedy was a level headed, determined and well accomplished person. During his short-lived presidency, he had to take on challenges like no other and did it with sophistication and grace. From conflicts involving other countries, like Vietnam, to the Civil Rights Movement that directly affected our own country, Kennedy continued to take each problem day by day until there was an overall improvement or resolution.
