A total of three thousand people died that morning. The worse thing is that four hundred of them were policemen and firemen they were trying to save other people but they died in the action. September 11th was a tragic day for the American people as we witnessed the economic and military symbols of our great country go up in flames. Hijackers overcame authorities on four different planes and used them to inflict insufferable damage amongst our people. Two planes crashed into the North and South towers of what was known as the World Trade Center that ultimately caused its collapse. Officials believe that the terrorists intended to destroy the White House or the United States Capitol.
The country was not unfamiliar with terrorist attacks before this date though. On February 26th, 1993 Ramzi Yousef placed a moving truck with 1,500 pounds of explosives in a parking garage under the World Trade Center. (“The September 11th”). The explosion injured 1,024 civilians and was a predecessor for the attack that would come only eight years later. (“The September 11th”)

Although there are a lot of conspiracy theories around the real motives and players behind the attack,
