How 9/11: The Flights That Changed America

The twin towers were targeted by a terrorist attack before 9/11. It was in 1993, a truck ran into the north tower with a urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device. It was meant to make the North Tower fall in the South Tower. Like Killing two birds with one stone. This would have killed thousands of lives, but unfortunately the North Tower stood its ground and did not fall.

Did you know that the 9/11 attack was not the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center? On the 11th of September in the year 2001, Islamic terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and crashed two of them in the World Trade Center in New York City. One of the other planes was crashed into the Pentagon in Virginia while the last plane was driven to the ground in a field in Pennsylvania. 9/11 changed American society by improving security but also by increasing ongoing wars. Immigration and deportation were also increased because of 9/11.

On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters and innocent people tragically died inside the Twin Towers. This horrific event will never be forgotten, and it marks hope, resilience, and unity as a nation. Through the examination of 9/11 and the influence that it had on the United States, especially with the deaths of FDNY responders, related illnesses, and the rebuilding of the One World Trade Center, it becomes abundantly clear why 9/11 should be remembered. On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked by foreign al-Qaeda terrorists who hijacked four commercial airline planes.

On this day 4 American planes were hijacked by terrorists. These ¾ planes had hit some pretty important buildings that killed lots of people. The first plane had hit the World Trade Center. The second plane had hit the Twin Towers. The third one hit the Pentagon.

On September 11, 2001, Americans changed the way they lived their lives. They went from not worrying about their safety, to worrying about whether today was going to be their last day alive. September 11th took the lives of many innocent people that should not have lost their lives. The 911 memorial garden is the most important monument because it shows that terrorists shattered America ’s sense of safety, and courageous American citizens would give their lives in the years that followed as they fearlessly joined the fight against terrorism around the world.

What happened is a group of terrorists boarded 4 planes and took them over and crashed two into the twin towers and one into the pentagon and the last one passengers on the last plane retook over the plane and crashed it in a field in Pennsylvania .

The events that occurred on September, 11, 2001 were among the most catastrophic events in American history. The events of the day were summarized as 19 militants associated with the terror group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out targeted attacks in the United States. Out of the four planes, two of them were flown into the World Trade Center in New York, a third one into the Pentagon in Washington and the fourth one crashing off course into a field. The attacks resulted in the deaths of over 3000 people and the beginning of a soon to come American counter terrorism policy and the subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Just thinking that one of your family members could be dead right now if one flight wouldn 't have been canceled is kind of a scary feeling. 9/11 changed America forever and it will never be the same. Many people sat in front of televisions and radios listening hoping there loved ones would come home. Some even expected calls. Al Qaeda attacked the WTC for many reasons.

The shock and disbelief of 9/11 revealed that America felt that something like this could not possibly happen to us. It showed that the security of our country had been compromised

Men and women prepared themselves for another work day and school children settled in their seats for a day’s lesson. One moment it was a normal day and the next moment will forever be ingrained within the minds of an entire nation. The first plane hit at 8:46 a.m. and the second at 9:03 a.m., leaving 2,819 people dead. September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as a day of great destruction, a day of great loss. September 11, 2001 was the day two planes flew into the World Trade Center, forever changing the way of life for all of America. After this horrible act of terrorism the president of the United States gave a speech addressing the nation.

The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 others. Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes. Two of the planes (American airline flight 11 and united airlines flight 175) Crashed into the north and south towers of world trade center in New York City. One hour and 42 minutes after the crash of the planes both 110 stories towers collapsed resulting fire and the collapsing and damage to the other towers. Including the seven world trade center tower which has 47 stories.

Although the images of the event were still fresh in my mind I had no understanding of it. I often wondered as a kid why an airplane would crash into a building in broad day. These and many more questions went unanswered for year until the 6th anniversary of the attacks. My 7th grade social studies teacher Mr. Drummond gave answers to the questions I had about the 9/11 attacks.

The morning of Tuesday September 11, 2011 is one of the biggest tradgies of all time. On this specific day four airlines were hijacked by an Islamic group that goes by the name al-Qaeda. The attacks took the lives of 2,996 innocent people, injured nearly 6,000 people, and caused at least $10 billion in infracture and property damage. These attacks, also known as the 9/11 attacks, will forever be remebered as one of the most horrific days for so many people around this world.
