Cross country requires tremendous amounts of hard work, dedication, and willpower to succeed in. Running takes a lot of hard work, but add in ten miles or more a day at seven minutes per mile pace with hills it, becomes even harder. Not only do I have intense runs day after day, but I also complete hard ab exercises everyday to accell my running performance. I have learned that running performance is affected by eating habits, so I avoid junk foods to perform at my maximum running capabilities. My running career started in fourth grade for a fitness challenge. I ran over one hundred miles in a month to be with the teachers
This years cross country went off pretty well if you ask Harrisburg cross country runner Alexander Auch, If you ask him he will tell you that his favorite part of the season was watching his teammates improve and grow as a better runner and placing top 10 in just about every race and getting first in Brookings with a time of 16:40.66 and getting second as a team. Speeding up At the beginning of the cross country season I hated cross country absolutely hated it, I would walk down the hallway of saline middle school look at all of the pictures on the wall and saw some of kids running and thought why is My mom doing this to me? I thought I was a terrible at it, I would run like a 9 or 10 minute mile. So when the school year came along I dreaded the end of the day I would look at the clock and think a tiny bit longer, please just a wee longer (and that is very very rare.) When the season began I had a lot of trouble, whether it was keeping up or if it was breathing problems, and My friend Zaske (who was and still is much faster than me) was nice enough that instead of going up with all the faster kids he stayed back with me, but even when he was going his slowest I still had trouble keeping up he would try to encourage me by saying “come on Michael just a little faster,” and I would respond with “i'm…

In 7th grade I got so close at the end of the season and ran a 5:01 mile. I got there because of good coaches to help me a long way but I didn’t work as hard as I could have Getting close
I ran in my middle school’s track team for two years. I ran the mile, one hundred meter dash and triple jump. Out of all the events I participated in I absolutely despised the mile, I hated the aftermath the most. The feeling of my lungs burning, legs aching from the long run and the heavy asthmatic breathes. Although the mile had several cons, I loved the challenge and I was too stubborn to quit.
but I decided I wanted to. We kept on running 2-3 miles on weekdays in the mornings and building up our long runs even more. They eventually got up to 9, 10, and 11 miles. Every night before our long runs we would have spaghetti for dinner, because pasta is energy, my dad would always tell me to have more and he would say, “It’s like eating energy.” He would also drive out along our running route and plant water

Have you ever ran in a cross country meet? I have ran in countless cross country meets; I have been running cross country for eight years now. Every race I run is a challenge, no matter what, because I push by body to its limit. Most people do not consider cross country to be fun. The enjoyable part is definitely not the race itself, but the feeling afterwards knowing that I kept pushing myself when my body and mind were both telling me to stop.

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." -Pre. Cross Country is a sport that requires pushing oneself through immense pain to achieve a goal. I never wanted to go through any of those pains to achieve anything. I 've run on purpose since summer 2012. I would go to a park close to home a few times a week to run on a one-mile gravel path that wrapped around the park 's perimeter. At the time, I was mostly concerned with running the one-mile loop as fast as I possibly could. I 'd run so hard in the mid-day heat that by the time I completed the loop I would be overcome with dizziness and an inability to catch my breath without laying on top of a nearby picnic
