Unit 1: Activity 2: Assignment 2: Journal As an individual amongst many other students, we all have our own ideas and opinions. This is what makes us different from each other and also similar in many cases. With the diversity of opinions they often depict our relationship with others and who we are compatible with. From my experience, having a different opinion about something out of the majority is not necessarily a negative thing. The people I usually hang out with are understanding and may oppose my opinion with other reasoning why my opinion may be incorrect or not as good. In the end, I can still have my own opinion without ruining my relationship with my friends. Being bias is an issue which we can encounter daily in our everyday …show more content…
I go to an all boys school so having a negative attitude is sometimes asking to get hurt. For being positive all around it benefits many of my relationship with my peers as well as my friends. Even if those around me are feeling down or otherwise, being positive creates an environment where they can also begin to feel the same. Prejudice is a huge issue many suffer from across the globe. In a school environment, prejudice is always a call for the worse. When we say prejudice it is most commonly known to be relating to race. In my experiences at school, there were cases of prejudice based on academic performance. Whenever a teacher would assign a group assignment students with higher averages would join together leaving those with lower averages to group with each other. This usually negatively affects many friendships since one may care more about their marks than their friends. This affected my relationships with my peers that I always worked with positively, but the relationship with those who I never or rarely worked with did not go so well. There are many factors that affect how my relationships with others at school can have positive and negative outcomes. It is important to understand these issues and always go for what is

7 / D.P7: Explain how different procedures maintain health and safety in a selected health or social care setting Maintaining health and safety in health and social care is extremely important to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all their service users as well as other individuals service providers may come in contact with in the setting. There are several procedures that help to maintain this health and safety however they can all vary between settings for example, health and safety procedures will be slightly different and more focused on certain areas in hospitals and especially in paediatric ward compared to in drop-in centres where the needs and risk to service users are slightly different. Some of the procedures used in health and social care to maintain health and safety include; infection control and prevention, safe moving and handling of equipment and individuals, food preparation and storage, storage and administration of medication and storage and disposal of hazardous substances.
To explain these remarks we must first define prejudice. Prejudice is an opinion that was formed unreasonably about a person or a group of people. Cultural norms heavily influence our ideas, behaviors and values. And being in groups of like-minded individuals has the tendency to strengthen the beliefs one has. Even just one repetitive member has the ability to persuade the masses.
The prejudice that am familiar with from an academic perspective would be what I term the in between group of kids in the public school system. This group of children is the children that are not your average child mentally but are not as easy to identify as say a child with autism. This group of children that I feel receives a negative attitude from the teachers, their peers, the school, and often times even the community this negative treatment is considered prejudice according to Weiten, Dunn, & Hammer (2015). This group of kids that I am referring to as the in between group often have some disorders that affect their daily lives including but not limited to the following: • ADD/ADHD - Attention Deficit Disorder & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder • Anxiety Disorder • Bi Polar Disorder • ODD - Oppositional Defiant Disorder • OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder • Pervasive Development Disorder Each of these disorders can cause a child to suffer greatly at the hands of those who pre judge them as being kids that just need to have a stern hand in their life, or are just spoiled.
Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed without knowledge or reason regarding an ethnic, racial or religious group. Stereotype equally is a thought or over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people, of which the thought is not necessarily accurate(MyPsychLabVideo) According to social learning theory, prejudice is learned just the same way that people learn other values and attitudes, mostly through association and modeling as well as reinforcement(Feldman,2013). In regard to association, children may learn to associate a certain group of people with crime and violence as well poverty and other bad things.
Prejudice is a reason not based on reason or actual experience. Prejudice gives ideas of specific groups stereotyping races, sex, or beliefs. This causes many of these characters to have a power imbalance which causes them to have mental or emotional problems. If the people who have a lot of prejudice towards a certain group, they may take a more physical approach and harm the target group. Prejudice, discrimination, and racism is not something anyone can hide from this is a big part of society even though it is not a positive part of society it is still there.
The word prejudice means a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. I think prejudice existence because every person thinks their better than someone else and they through it through prejudice. Prejudice can also be an act of bullying, because you are putting yourself before the other person and you think that you are better than them. No one can stop prejudice
Prejudice is when a person holds an unsupported and often negative attitude towards members of a social group. Prejudicial actions cause particular members to be treated differently than others is defined as discrimination. In other words, prejudice is the attitude while discrimination is the behavioral result. Biases and false impressions are created within the society we live in. Biases involved are culturally conditioned, meaning prejudice and discrimination is learned and developed based on a person's environment.
Prejudice can devastate someone racially, socially, and religiously until they at some point can't take anymore. Race is a big factor in prejudice, it is one that can't be changed. People are born the color they are and where their background is from. There are many different
Prejudice has been around forever. It can be found anywhere including here at Polarsirkelen upper secondary school. What causes it? And most importantly what can be done? What exactly is prejudice?
We all harbour biases that we do not consciously notice, that manifest very subtly in our language and our behaviour. We may sit further away from a person of a different skin colour, or hurl spiteful words at someone who is physically disparate—basically, we shun away those who are different from the majority. And I was guilty of this. It was during a church initiative to help the under-privileged that opened my eyes to the truth behind how I let my prejudices dictate my actions.
Prejudice is a preconceived notion that is not based on reason or actual experience. It is a feeling towards a person based on his/her affiliation towards a group. If I think have a certain belief towards a specific group of people based on their race, sex, or religion and I come across people belonging to such group, I may hold that belief towards them based on their affiliation to the group. These preconceived notions are then turned into stereotypes; a belief that that is unreliable and over-generalized about all members of a group that do not take into account individual differences of a group. These stereotypes exist because it help how we interpret and view other people in the world.
