The Hans and the Romans have different perspectives when it pertains to technology. The Han tend to see technology as a necessity, something that was needed in order for them to have an effective civilization. The Romans viewed technology as a necessity, but also something that just increases their proud status. Both the Han dynasty and Roman empire had a coherent

Huan Tan, an upper classmen, Han philosopher believes that technology is a gift and something that is beneficial to society. She uses a mythological emperor as a symbol, all of the minds of the emperors as one person. Tan sees the benevolence in technology, most likely due to his belief in confucianism. Tan admired the technology and recognizes it power and how its advancement increased benefit towards civilization. Tan’s attitudes towards technology is expressed when he says “Later, water power was also applied and the benefit was increased hundredfold” (Document 3). Unlike the Romans, the Han viewed technology more as a necessity and benefaction. The Han’s attitude toward technology is revealed through the type of technology they used. The main classes of the Han Empire were agriculturists and craftsmen. Because of this, tools and technology were created in a way that would meet their needs and help build the …show more content…
The Han Dynasty’s attitude toward technology was influenced by the things that were needed by its people. Rome thought that technology was necessary, but also a way to show how exceptional their civilization really was. Both the Han and the Romans attitudes toward technology can be revealed through their inventions. Both self-glorifying, the Han and the Romans used technology as an asset. Though the Han were more focused on the benefit of their people rather than the image of their empire, unlike the
The Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty of China were two of the largest empires of the Ancient world. The Roman Empire lasted from 27B.C. and fell in 476 the to German Barbarians, 298 The Ancient Han Chinese empire lasted from 206 to 220 (p.11). The Rome Empire and the Han Dynasty of China both kept a lot of records and many survive to us today. Both Empires also used a census to monitor people movement and record tax information. Both the Han Dynasty and rome relied heavily on income from taxes to pay for their military and public works
Comparing the Han Dynasty and Roman Empire The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire in the Classical Period were similar in their downfall and advances, but differed politically. The Roman Empire gradually fell for many different reasons. In the same way, the downfall of the Han Dynasty was caused by a multitude of factors, many of these being the same as the Roman’s. Just as the Roman Empire was hurt by the number of nomadic invasions, so was the Han.
The Han and the roman empires shared similar interests and attitudes towards technology. Technology became a primary focuses for the civilizations. The Han and Roman made the same amount of attention towards technology. They both found it important to be the most advanced in technology. In Documents 3 and 4 both empires had a positive attitude towards technology and both thought it was a gift from the “gods”.
In the First Millennium, the Ancient Civilizations of Han and Rome societies had clear appreciation for the technological advancement though the Roman concentrated on the mathematical and scientific advancements, while looking down upon the laboring tools invented to increase agricultural efficiency that were appreciated by the Hans. Roman concentrated intently on mathematical and scientific advancements after they increase their slave labor which the Roman cared little about. However, Han highly prized agricultural tool for it efficiency and its ability increase production. An additional document from a laborer’s point of view would be helpful in some way that would be helpful on the accounts of the Han or Romans, because every
Rome from 71 BCE to 476 BCE and Han China from 206 BCE to 220 BCE are two very well-known classical empires. These two empires have similarities and differences in their political systems, religion, and social structure. The romans had a democratic government whereas China had a singular ruler. Imperial Rome was monotheistic and Han China was polytheistic. While they both had similar class structures, China had a three tiered social system and the Romans only had two divisions in their class structure.
Throughout history, technology was created
Technology can be innovations and inventions that help to accomplish tasks easier. Some examples of technology are agricultural tools, modern computers, electric compartments, etc. In earlier civilizations, the invention of technology itself was a massive part in growing the population and preserving business ordeals like trade. The Han dynasty and the Roman empire both believed technology was essential to their civilizations, but Han China had a positive outlook on labor and its benefits compared to a lesser enthusiasm towards it in Rome. Both the Romans and the Hans admired technology and the people that created it.
Introduction The governments of Han China and Rome after Augustus were vastly different in their institutions and practices. While both empires employed autocratic rule and relied on bureaucracy, the ways in which they developed these systems varied significantly. The Han Chinese imperial government was characterized by a Confucian meritocracy while the Roman imperial government was characterized by a strong religious framework. Additionally, Han China tended to centralize more power within a single ruler as compared to Rome's system of devolved authority through provincial governorships.
Perhaps the two most important civilizations, Rome and Han China both fell due to major similarities. At the same time, Rome and Han China fell due to distinct differences as well. Furthermore, the collapse of China and Rome had far more similarities rather than differences. During 200 and 600 BCE both classical civilizations suffered from outside invasions; growing from Central Asia. They were not as sweeping as earlier Indo-European growth but tested Rome and China severely.
The Qin and Han employed different philosophies on how to run their dynasties. The Qin used controlling Legalistic ideas while the Han used the relationship building Confucianism. The Qin and Han had a different relationship with outsiders because the Qin preferred to keep foreigners out while the Han wanted to build a relationship with them. The Qin and the Han each contributed to the growth of China’s culture and expansion. The developments in trade, foreign relations, and building expansive building projects in the Qin and Han Dynasties effected the design of every dynasty
In various ways, Han China and Imperial Rome were politically similar yet also had their pair of differences. Two very well-known classical empires, both had highly advanced political systems for their time; Han China, lasted from 206 B.C.E to 220 C.E, and Imperial Rome, lasted from 31 B.C.E to 476 C.E. Many think these two empires where built with no previous influence, however; the Roman Empire had retained many aspects from the Roman Republic, and Han China from the Qin Dynasty. During their peaks, they controlled the majority of the world 's population because of their constant expansion of conquered lands, while their structure of administration and rule influenced many empires and future societies around the world. Aspects such as these, ultimately, led these two empires to be, arguably, the most influential societies in the world; as their legacies still live on today.
During the era of classical societies, the Han and Roman empires were two vast cosmopolitan societies which dominated regions all throughout Eurasia. In regards to the fall of the Han and Roman empires, both were similar in that they fell victim to internal government decay, but different in that Rome fell to foreign invasions, while Han suffered from rebellions of their own people. The Han and Roman empires were similar in their fall in that they both suffered from internal decay, specifically of their governments. In the Han empire, land distribution problems that were originally sought to be fixed by the “Socialist emperor” Wang Mang allowed large landowners to become even more influential than they previously were.
The Han Dynasty in China and the Roman Empire shared many similarities and differences when it came to political rule and the nature of their political authority. The most significant difference between the two is how the Han dynasty enacted policies that were shaped to counter the wrongdoings of the previous Qin dynasty, whereas the Roman Empire enacted policies shaped to create and promote peace and stability. The difference in the two empire’s coming to power was to account for their variance in political rule. After the Qin dynasty, the Han ruled China for four centuries, enacting numerous political changes and governing one of the most efficacious dynasties in Chinese history.
The Roman Empire left a mark on history as one of the largest and most successful empires in history. How much territory did the Roman Empire rule over? At the Roman Empire’s pique, the Empire engulfed the entire Mediterranean and spread all across Western Europe and half of Great Britain. The Roman Empire was not taken likely by rival empires.
Technology can be defined as “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment”. (n.d.) Therefore, when we speak of technological evolution we can say that it is an “innovation and technology related hypothesis that describes the fundamental change of society through technical development”. Different theorists have their own perspective on the evolution of technology but, although each of their views differs from another, they shared certain common features, mechanism, and incidence in technology. Some theorists have developed distinct approaches to understanding the nature of the technological process and the relationship between technological development and the social world.
