Moving from a small sleepy mountain town in Northern Arizona to the bustling monstrous city of Las Vegas, Nevada fulfilled many of my goals in just a four hour drive. I am eighteen years old, it seems hardly reasonable to have an eighteen year old that has a hard time making the minuscule decision of what to have for dinner- make the decision of what to do for the rest of their life. I know the world is full of opportunities and I plan on taking advantage of as many as possible. Taking this class is an opportunity in itself. During my time in HMD 101 I hope to network with industry executives, deepen my passion for the hospitality and culinary industry, create positive relationships with my peers who are soon to be my colleagues, soak up every ounce of knowledge my professor and teaching assistants …show more content…
Similar to other five to six year old girls my answer varied from gymnast to princess to chef. Wanting to be a chef became my goal. As I grew up and became a freshman in high school I was given the opportunity to be a member of a competitive culinary team. High school went on and I fell in love with food, restaurants, and special events. More importantly I fell in love with the people who worked with food, owned restaurants, and planned special events. I was hired as a pastry cook at the Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona but that wasn’t enough. I worked as a dishwasher, pantry cook, banquet cook, and line cook. I loved every second of being in the kitchen but all I could think about was being in the front of the house. During my sixteen hour shifts I would often think, what is the perfect job for me? I couldn’t pick just one so instead I created a list of goals my career should fulfill. One: Working with food and people who love food. Two: Traveling, from Asia to Antarctica – I want to see it all. Three: Devoting my work to others, nonprofit organizations, or
From the Kaiser Permanente career website, I was delighted to learn about the RN I position at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center in the Medical Telemetry Department. Kaiser Permanente is a leader in our nation’s healthcare system and has the standard for promoting wellness and disease prevention in our communities. As a result, I am excited about the possibility of being part an organization that so deeply shares the same passion as I of providing holistic and compassionate health care. After obtaining my first degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and assisting nurses and CNAs as a Clinical Care Extender, I became inspired to pursue a career in nursing. I obtained my RN license July 2015 and graduated
I believe the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science, and the Arts is the right place to continue my studies, because I love how the classes are based on the U of A academic system and that ASMSA offers an opportunity to obtain advanced college level knowledge before high school graduation. That being said, ASMSA still has a college life atmosphere which I think prepares the students to be more adjusted to what real college will be like. I also enjoy the fact that your professors are eager to help at almost any given time. On top of that, ASMSA will teach me viable skills like researching skills, time management skills, and self-discipline, also it will give me the great privilege of graduating with at least 30 concurrent hours which will
Every Resident Advisor (RA) answers the on-call phone with a bit of apprehension, but when the caller tells you that they are concerned that their friend may hurt herself physically, all your nerves stand on edge. It was this experience and others like it that reaffirmed my decision to pursue a career in the Healthcare field with a specific interest in mental health. My life’s journey began on a small multiracial island where we believed and practiced “every creed and race find an equal place,” these words taken from our country’s national anthem. In our multicultural society, religion played a large role in influencing the societal norms and practices which were of a conservative nature.
Essay #1: Describe why you wish to enroll at WMed. You should describe any connection you have to southwest Michigan. I would love to stay in Michigan and I appreciate that Kalamazoo is a large city with only a forty-minute drive to Lake Michigan beaches. Not to mention that WMed is the only Michigan-based medical school to be voted one of the 50 Most Beautiful Medical Schools. It is also a new institution which allows for innovation by its students.
I wanted to do something that I do often or have been doing throughout my life time. I wanted a career that encouraged the beliefs and values that I highly followed. During the summer of 2013, I took my sibling with major disabilities to the Emergency room. The first person that came running to help us was a nurse. The nurse recognized immediately what was wrong and did the best she could to help my sister breath.
Clinical medicine and science are inherently inseparable entities. Scientific advances and discoveries will perpetually influence any career in the medical profession. This was an idea I learned early on during my undergraduate education. However, my own interest in science spans further than using it as a means to an end. The process of developing theories and conducting experiments enthralls me.

I have done varieties of things such as curled, straightened, dyed, and styled hair. Once I got good at doing both, people started asking me to do their hair and makeup for different occasions. After high school I would like to attend Honolulu Community College and chase after my dream of becoming a cosmetologist. Once I have graduated from college I will work my way into a salon, which can help me gain more experience and skills. I will continue to practice on other people to expand my makeup skills with different techniques.

I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.
There are many positive attributes and assets that I possess. One of them is I am hard working; this will help our FFA chapter because I will venture to make a better and stronger chapter. Another positive attribute is I am reliable; I will strive to be at all of the meetings and activities that the chapter will bestow upon me. Last of all, I am a leader because I am passionate about the things I do while being open minded to the opinions of others. The FFA Chapter has many activities for members to participate in.
Throughout the course of my study, I have developed a strong interest in biotechnology and the health industry; it is thus my hope to pursue a legal education that will enable me to participate in and even bring changes to their regulatory systems. UVA attracts me with its strong health law program. I especially appreciate the extensive collaboration between UVA Law and the other medical institutions of the university. As stated in my personal statement, one of my main motives to delve into legal study after obtaining a degree in science is to explore the power of law as a social factor that exploits the potentiality of science to benefit more people; such an interdisciplinary approach that UVA Law takes is no doubt the best way to understand
I’m applying to GMU in hopes of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I want to obtain my degree not only for myself, but for my mother as well. She left her native country of Nicaragua as a political refugee at the tender age of twenty-one. Leaving her family and leaving all hopes of ever completing her degree in education behind. I admire her for coming to a foreign country, not knowing the language and having very limited opportunities, but not letting that discourage her.
Holding a diploma in my hands and going to college has been one of my dearest dreams; I have always believed in reaching my maximum potential and dreamed numerous times of being able to go to medical school, study, help and lead my community through the medical field. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to become a doctor, I have always been amazed and feel an immense interest in learning specifically about biology and medicine; I feel a serious motivation towards understanding how the human body works; each organ, tissue and every cell interests me; I desire to learn and understand how the diseases manifest, how to diagnose and master each technique to treat them;I am extremely committed to my education and to reaching my goal which is to become a doctor.
At this time in our very lives we are planning for the future and making a ladder for ourselves of goals to reach. As you climb higher on the ladder you find yourselves aspiring to take actions that may be more difficult than we imagined. This is just the beginning and we do not give up. As the years come faster I made a list of the things that I am planning on persuing. My major career goal is to go into buisness, and within the buisness industry I want to become a Human Resources Manager.
