The Industrial Revolution had many positive and negative effects of how the people felt and did with the Great depression happening in the early 1900’s. Many of the positives were because of the big booms in large cities with supply and demand. There was a huge boom in Pittsburgh due to the large steel production. There were negative effects because of all of the low working wages, the economy dropping, and the desperate needs of everyone needing money. Other negative effects were also horrible conditions in factories, really low pay, unfair working hours and some of the workers were kids between the ages of 10-16. Many people were in desperate need for money since the Great Depression happened, so everyone was looking for any job that would make any pay no matter how low. Many families were even desperate to send their children to work to afford small things like food. When people got a job at the factories, the conditions were horrifying. There were really small spaces, did not have ventilation, and the workers were breathing in many fumes and chemicals that would come from the machines. This would give them medical conditions in the future. Also the workers had a very high chance of getting severely injured and even some died. With working sixteen hours a day they barely had any rest, no proper diet, and there …show more content…
Where there were factories, there were many problems. The pollution made peoples communities filthy and the air wasn't clean. Children did not have many privileges because they worked sixteen hours a day. They had no time for school, so a lot of them only knew to read but not write, they wouldn't get the proper diet because they didn't have time too. A positive effect about this is what Faucher saw. He saw a factory town with women that were dressed nicely, he saw how houses were affordable for most people, he thought it was a very clean and neat community to live
’this shows that the factories were an unsafe place for working class because they over work their employes and do not give a proper diet. This evidence shows first hand evidence of what happened
Some of the conditions were low pays, no safe at all to work in, over crowed in factories, working days were long. Some people work 10 to 12 hours a day. There was no job security, no workman’s companion , no retirement fund.
The American Industrialization was in the late 1800’s making many things to improve the economy. The American Industrialization was caused by multiple factors, some of the factors included a growing population, a willing work force, high tariffs, among many more. These effects made people willing to work at lower wages so they can get jobs and buy American made goods. There were many outcomes of the Industrial Revolution, both positive, like improving people's lives, and negative effects, like exploitation of workers. The positive effects of American Industrialization is how it make work cheaper, employed thousands of workers, and improving people’s lives.
The Industrial Revolution’s effects can be argued either way for the better or the worse. Many people have their different opinions. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative effects for the society because of the horrendous living and hazardous working conditions, it was actually a positive thing for the society. Industrialization’s positive effects included economic growth, new inventions that increased productivity, and a higher standard of living helped people live better and more efficiently.
During the years of 1929 to 1939, the Great Depression affected American life negatively. The Great Depression began after the stock market crash of October 1929. Many Americans, especially ones that were poor, became unemployed. Most of the country’s banks failed during these years, investment also dropped. The economy during these years became poorly and one man came up with these programs called the “New Deal”.
The Great Depression In Canada and The United States of America The Great Depression is one of the worst recessions in all of history. After the war, many troops returned home looking for a place to work. Not many job offerings are available at the time, leaving families with no income. On ‘Black Tuesday’, October 29th, 1929, the stock markets completely crashed.
The Great Depression all started when the stock market crashed in 1929. People stopped using banks. The dust bowl started. People got employed. People waited in long lines just for bread.
The Industrial Revolution witnessed the evolution of large urban centers, such as Boston and New York City. It changed society from agrarian to mechanical, which further moved jobs to larger cities. As every coin has two sides, there are negative sides to this. Primarily, it caused severe pollution. The environment condition was bad with smokes surrounding them.
The Great Depression The Great Depression was by far one of the worst times of America’s history, and the world’s history. The Depression affected everyone except for the politicians and the wealthy. During the depression a lot of people lost their jobs which caused the unemployment rate to sky rocket to 14% of America’s population was unemployed, and the number would stay their till World War 2, and the depression started in the 1920’s. The Great depression was the worst economic crash in U.S. history. It started after the stock market crash on October, 1929. It sent Wall Street into panic and wiped out millions of investors. In turn, this led to millions of americans becoming unemployed, and nearly half of american banks had failed. Over the next couple of years, consumer spending and investment made a steep dive, so did the industrial output and employment rates.
People that were sick couldn’t go and buy medicine because markets were crashing and prices were going up which some people couldn’t afford the medicine. People were getting sick of lack of nutrition. “ We have gone through some difficult times like everyone else perhaps our working together and respecting each other’s abilities, in addition to that little thing called love”, said Cynthia Weil. Surviving the depression was really hard on people they they didn’t have money to survive they would die if sickness or lack of nutrition. People went from living comfortable life styles to scrapping by to feed themselves and their family. The amount of jobs came to a halt without the amount of supply and demand America once knew. The opportunity to make money was slim to none, and for those who were lucky enough to keep their jobs they experienced huge pay cuts and less working hours. Food was also in high demand, but not enough was being supplied. Big farming states were faced with some of the biggest droughts in history during the time period of the great depression.
The life of an industrial worker was very hard. Workers had to work long shifts and get paid very little. Some worked ten to twelve hours a day, six days a week, and made less than one dollar per hour. Along with long hours and little pay, there was no regulation for breaks, safety, or age. Due to this, one in eleven workers died on the job.
Conditions were hazardous and grueling. They worked long hours for little pay. Most of them could not read or write and they could not attend school because they needed to work. They suffered from malnutrition and exhaustion. They were innocent children that were locked up in factories, like they had committed a crime.
The industrial revolution created an age of wonder for the rich but also created a nightmare for the workers powering the industrial revolution. The period of rapid industrial growth during the 1800s and into the early 1900s was more harmful because of poor working conditions, violent labor disputes and poor regulations at factories. The businessmen of the industrial revolution created poor working conditions for men and women just
