Introduction This essay will reflect on my personal experience, skills, and knowledge gained from my studies and practice of undertaking blood pressure (Bp) whilst completing my professional placement. Bp may be defined as a force of blood against vessel walls in the body, consisting of systolic and diastolic pressure measured in millimeters of mercury. (Waugh and Grant, 2016) Systolic pressure occurs when the hearts left ventricle contracts and forces blood into the aorta causing a heightened atrial pressure, while diastolic pressure refers to complete cardiac diastole, this is when the aortic valve closes and pressure is at its lowest between beats, blood moves into smaller corresponding vessels and the heart rests.
As teachers strive to ready students for the 21st Century, it seems that more and more challenges are being encountered on a daily basis for our kids to be engaged and ready for learning. Teachers have to recognize all students can and will learn in their own way, in their own time, given the right opportunity and safe environment to do so. Teachers have to identify the barriers and facilitators of both the students and school in order to best support the unique perspectives, life situations and backgrounds that each individual has, meet them where they are at, and ultimately help them become life learners. The agency staff member then provided the outcomes of a unit based initiative to address the issue (Fater, 2013). Appraisal of the activity specified that students had extremely better understanding of quality improvement and its relationship to patient care than they had already (Fater, 2013). The nursing faculty and affiliating agency staff propose to continue to evolve student skills targeting competency development (Fater, 2013). Faculties have to think about some factors before evaluating a curriculum using the gap analysis (Fater, 2013). They have to think of the labor-intensive nature of the data mining desired (Fater, 2013).

According to Bookboon (2012) there are 5 golden principles of goal setting. Based on the case study by Layman. E. (2011) I will try and explain how these principles have been applied in the case study. Clarity in the HIS department is a clear goal that is understood by all employees. Managers and directors of HIS should routinely and periodically asses work for alignment with current processes.
The first step to empowerment of students is role modelling caring behavior. This is going to be a goal of mine, to be an effective role model of caring in nursing practice and collaboration with students. I need to look for signs of stress in my students and care enough to intervene to prevent poor performance or dropout in students. Empowerment involves creating a welcoming atmosphere for sharing of both positive and negative feelings. I need to incorporate this into my role as nurse educator, to create an open-door policy during my office hours to assure students feel safe talking to me, empowered to take advantage of instructor’s
Sometimes we think that the nursing profession is just to take “orders” from the physicians but it is so much more than that. Throughout my nursing school and my experience in the hospital, I have learned the great magnitude of this career. Nurses are a key component in the medical field. Nursing can go from bathing a patient to calling condition C (when a patient is coding), nurses are essential in every aspect of care, therefore it is very important to have good skills in communication, attention to detail, flexibility, and critical
With the of nurses in demand, the educational requirements have increased as well. I think it is important to have a personal experience in the medical field as well as hands on experience with the nursing stimulation mannequins and peers. A good foundation of anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and pathophysiology will help me excel in the upper level classes. As the curriculum increases in difficulty, nurses are required to differentiate between the patient’s signs and symptoms. It is important know that not all patients are the same.
Formulate Goals and a Statement of Intent I have had the privilege of being an educator in high poverty elementary schools for the past eight years. The majority of my classroom experience had been in fourth grade teaching math. My current and past administrators recognized my leadership qualities as a classroom teacher and utilized those skills to assist other teachers on the campus. As the lead teacher of the school, I was able to work with the teachers on my campus, model lessons, assist with creating lesson plans and assessments, lead professional development meetings about best practices, and collaborate with lead teachers around the district and state.
In my previous blog (My 2018 Reading Goals) , I mentioned that one of my reading goal this year is to finish 50 books. To be able to achieve it, I plan to finish at least one book per week. Therefore, I prepared a list of books that I would be read - or better known as TBR (to-be-read) in the book community. And in this month, I have prepared six books in my January TBR.
