For many years, companies have utilized advertising as a useful tool to promote their brands, convey a message, or sell their products. In today’s world, advertisements can be seen almost everywhere from enormous billboards along highways to a diminutive ads on a phone. But not all advertisements are successful. To convey a message, advertisements must contain rhetorical devices such as pathos, logos, and ethos. A good example of how rhetorical devices are used to persuade an audience is the Edward Jones “Nine Days” commercial.

Print advertisements are very important today because they show people the importance of a product, or even the knowledge of doing something right or wrong. A website called, Smallbusiness.chron.com states, “Small companies using print in advertising can expect their advertisements to last longer.” A long lasting message is what companies strive for since they want to get their point across and are typically very informative. Of course, getting the point across is the goal in all marketing company departments, but sometimes commercials on television are not enough. Print advertisements leave more of a lasting impression on someone’s mind which leads them to wonder.

Is the existence of confederate flag in the campus influence how people think and act? The correct answer is no. The confederate flag has nothing to do with the neither mental capacity nor thought process of individuals. Its existence in the campus is never a distraction to any learning process. The confederate flag is not the minimum measure used by the University to determine, who enrolls and does not enroll.

Honestly, no I do not believe that the confederate battle flag is a symbol of racism or hatred. Personally I believe that anyone who thinks that the confederate flag is “racist” seriously needs a history lesson.
