George Washington First President Essay

The World of George Washington Plunkitt by William L. Riordon. It is a collections of talks and writing of Plunkitt detailing about his life, politics, and general knowledge of the public. Many reformers saw the organization of Tammany Hall as a corrupt malignancy that plagued the American government. But Plunkitt argues that his work was always practical, legal and influential and helped shape the democratic system for the better. And as for his fortune, he simply states, “I seen my opportunities and I took em.”

In the book of His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, the author introduces Washington, the Father of the United States, in a fresh portrait focused on the characters of Washington. This book is an impressive biography of Washington's remarkable dedication to the United States history. According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington's life is divided into three areas in this book.

Understanding Washington’s background ties into the thesis because the person analyzing “The Atlanta Exposition” can understand what experiences he has gone through leading up to the speech to help the reader understand the stance and views he stated during the speech. Washington was born roughly around April 5, 1856 in Hale’s Ford,

Roosevelt used antithesis during his speech even though it was metaphorically weak. A typical example was in paragraph five (5). When he compared the risen of taxes and their inability to pay have fallen. Cultural Values By the look of the speech, Roosevelt gave the speech as a devout Christian.

Washington was well known Horseman. The writer describe him “ Washington was known to hunt up to several hours straight, ride as close to the hounds as possible, leaping fences and going extremely quick and always to the end to be in on the skill…” The writer took time to describe George Washington’s life hood in chronological order by quoting diaries, books and magazines of that time. George Washington was born in Tidewater Virginia by 1732. He was a typical person of the time from working class family.

In An Imperfect God, Henry Wiencek presents George Washington as a specific case through which to study what he calls the great “paradox” of American history: how a nation founded on the philosophies of liberty and equality also kept human beings in chains. Washington was a slave-owner his entire life and he took the role of managing the slaves who lived and worked at Mount Vernon including their purchase and sale. Prior to the Revolution, Washington “was just another striving young planter, blithely ordering breeding wenches for his slave trade, blithely exiling a man to a likely death at hard labor” (Wiencek 133) The fortune produced by Washington’s slaves kept him in the ranks of Virginia’s planter elite, securing the social and political prestige that helped lead the Second Continental Congress to appoint him commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in 1775.

George Washington made a bold decision for his Farewell Address to be an open letter of advice and warning to the American people for their long-term pleasure and security. Washington himself spoke of a nation with great unity. He had faith in the prosperity of the citizens, but was weary of the dangers of such a young republic. The overarching theme of his address was the preservation of the union. During this, we warned against the dangers of sectionalism and claimed that the connection between the Union and the Constitution must be cherished.

George Washington’s Presidency George Washington, as every American has known since around pre-school, was our nation’s first president. But what if we didn’t have a president? Maybe a king, or even a theocracy? Originally, George Washington thought that maybe a constitution may not work, and a ruling elite may even work better (William P. Kladky). The Constitutional Convention had many long and heated debates on how to best create their government to give equal power to all branches of the government, and a board of three was one of the contenders (William P. Kladky).

“He was involved twice in Germantown 's contribution to American history” (George Washington, 2013). Washington stopped the decimation of the nation’s capital by coming up with a permanent place safe from attacks, favoritism, and disease. “One challenge came from the national debt. Fighting and for and gaining independence did not come cheap and the amount of debt that the new nation faced was staggering” (George Washington, 2013). He faced many challenges during his presidency from paying back war debts.

Intro Growing up, we have all heard the many stories of George Washington. While many recognize him as one of the most important figures in U.S history, others only recognize him by one of his multiple accomplishments; he was the 1st president of the United States. With presidency comes the variety of duties and responsibilities, the main being a president 's inaugural adress. In George Washington 's very 1st inaugural, he uses three rhetorical strategies: personification, amplification, and last but not least, repitition to convey what he truly wants for the States and why a successful Constitution should be in order.

George Washington and Barack Obama had different views about how America would be like. On April 30, 1789 George Washington gave his inaugural speech and oathed to be the first president of the united states. On January 30, 2009 Barack Obama gave his inaugural speech. During George Washington speech senator William Maclay of pennsylvania remarked that George Washington looked agitated and embarrassed. During Obama's speech he looked confident and he acknowledge the crowd very well.

It is very easy to take out country and or freedom for granted. For those of use that have always lived here and never seen anything different it is almost impossible to to fully realize how good we really have it. We were not given anything we have today however, it took an extreme amount of hard work and dedication by the leaders of our past. It is impossible to discuss how this country achieved what we have now today without talking about George Washington. Our first presidents, the man who really pulled our country together and helped lay the ground work that we still live by today.

Washington. He was an educated African American, born in slavery, and saw as the leader of the black folk. His main agenda was to promote the policy of submission since black folk could only survive in it. They wanted political power, civil liberties, higher education, accumulation of wealth, and consolidation of the south, and for their values and beliefs, Washington publicly shamed them. Th black folk further internalized the propaganda that slavery was justified, they neglected their own education, and their future depended mainly on their own efforts.

President George Washington knew that a lot of his accomplishments would be viewed as precedents. As being the first President, he set numerous precedents, a significant number of which are still being implemented today. He chose to be called Mr. President as opposed to the title of being called a King, he then created the Presidential Cabinet, established the term limit of two terms for Presidency and was first President to create foreign policy.
