Friar Lawrence doesn’t worry about others, only himself. He ran away from the tomb when Juliet needed him to stop her from killing herself. He also never told Friar John the importance of the letter that he was suppose to give Romeo. Friar Lawrence never really thinks about the outcome of plans that he gives to other people, only when it involves him then he makes sure that the outcome would be better. By being careless, Friar helped Romeo and Juliet to even be together. Friar married them because he hoped it would help end the feud going between the families. He lied to the Capulets at Juliet’s death by not confessing that he gave her a potion and that she wasn’t really dead. The whole time Friar Lawrence should have been a responsible adult and told the young teenagers that what they were doing wasn’t safe. When Romeo confronts Friar about Romeo’s marriage to Juliet, Friar Lawrence hopefully states, “For this alliance may so happy prove/ To turn your households rancor to pure love” meaning that if Friar marries Romeo and Juliet, the family feud might end with all of the hate and rejoice with love instead. Friar Lawrence wasn’t acting like an adult which made Friar’s plan to make everything go wrong. Friar gave Juliet the poison which could make Juliet actually die, wake up in the tomb or actually kill herself. The important note regarding the whole plan never went to
Who is to Blame for Romeo & Juliet Death Madison Stich Mrs. Revier Block 4 12 December 2017 Two young adults die because they trusted the holy man in their lives. Everyone who trusted Friar Lawrence in the story, Romeo and Juliet had their lives pretty much fall apart. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare tells about a love affair gone wrong.
Some might argue that Friar Lawrence should take the blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but he was only doing what they asked of him. The Friar was only trying to help people for the better. In Act 2, Scene 3, the Friar agrees to marrying Romeo and Juliet in hopes of ending the feud. He thinks that these two might have a chance at bringing the two families together and to stop the chaos. He was concerned on marrying them, but dreamed of what could happen in the end.
“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” This is an ironic quote from William Shakespeare, who wrote the play, Romeo and Juliet. The main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet, believe that their lives are all up to destiny, and because of this, they end up killing themselves because of miscommunication. For this, I blame Peter, Juliet, and most of all Romeo for their deaths. One reason why Peter is to blame is he invited Romeo to the party at the Capulet’s mansion for helping him read the list of invitees at the beginning of the play.
Friar Lawrence first comes to know of the couple through the hot headed Romeo. Friar Lawrence, being a citizen Verona, knows too well of the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. The Friar sees Romeo's feelings for Juliet as a possible way to end the feud. While this is righteous thing to do, and would indeed benefit all parties, Friar Lawrence does show to be a bit self interested at times. His hasty and radical methods, including having Juliet play dead, are done so as opposed to more conservative methods all in the hopes of ending the feud and the possible rewards to his reputation and his spiritual afterlife.
Friar Lawrence is the most to blame for the events that occur in Romeo and Juliet because he let them marry without their parents permission. Juliet and Romeo’s marriage was a secret to everyone around except for Friar who married them. Keeping this from their families was causing tragedies to occur because keeping a secret that big was bound to be found out. In act 2 scene 3 Romeo tells Friar that he was him to marry himself and Juliet. Friar knows that her family name is Romeo’s enemy but he marries them anyway at the end of Act 2.
In William Shakespeare’s play, The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, there is a common question asked. Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? There are many characters in the play to be blamed, but the main three are Feud, Lord Capulet and Friar Lawrence. Feud plays a part in all of this because the Feud between the Montagues and the Capulets with bring Romeo and Juliet together. But Lord Capulet also plays a part in all of this, he didn't want to marry his precious Juliet to Paris right away, but she started to weep and he thought that if she was married, she would be happy, so he forced her into a marriage to Paris with the thought of ending her suffering.
Friar Lawrence is to blame for this reason because when he was going to send the letter to Romeo telling him about the potion and telling Romeo that Juliet actually isn’t dead. He should have told his messenger that it was very important and needed to be there immediately. Instead the messenger missed Romeo because he was to late, and Romeo was already on his way to kill himself. I also think that Friar Lawrence should have delivered the message personally, then he could have told Romeo what the plan was and how Juliet is actually still alive. I also think that matters should have been dealt with differently and personally.
William Shakespeare once said, “These violent delights have violent ends. And in their triump die, like fire and powder. Which, as they kiss, consume”, to describe his play “Romeo and Juliet”. Romeo and Juliet is the story of a girl and boy who fall in love after one night at a party and they decide to marry each other. Their parents are complete rivals so it made it impossible for them to be together with support from their families.
The marriage couldn’t have happened without Friar Laurence. Also readers might think that Friar was selfish by just wanting to end the family conflict by marrying them. You may ask why? Because Friar wouldn’t be directly involved and he wouldn’t see the consequences that Romeo and Juliet would see. Also for his far fetched plan to get them back together.

Friar Lawrence should have done anything possible in order to bring Juliet out of the crypt. However, all he did was leave the crypt and let Juliet kill herself so that he could leave the scene and wouldn't be the one to blame. Even the prince in the final scene of the play says, "We still have known thee for a holy man". This means that everyone has known Friar Lawrence as a holy man, but he has made such terrible suggestions to Romeo and Juliet which caused the deaths of
I think Friar Laurence is most responsible for the outcome of Romeo and Juliet. One may think it was the fault of Romeo and Juliet or the family feud, but upon more consideration, it appears to be Friar Laurence. Some people may think that the outcome is the fault of Romeo and Juliet. They caused a lot of trouble throughout the story and they are very important characters in the story. Romeo going to the party was an event that then caused trouble between the houses.
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are several significant details that help the reader comprehend who is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. First, the character Friar Laurence might be the one to blame since he marries Romeo and Juliet hoping it will stop the Montague's and the Capulet's from fading. Another important detail is he also gave Juliet a remedy so she didn’t have to marry Paris and for 2 days it will seem like she is deceased. The third detail important to the play is Friar Laurence was sending a message to Romeo that Juliet is not dead, but that she is sleeping, but Friar Laurence’s message never made it to Romeo. Another important detail is he knew immediately that when the message didn’t reach Romeo
Friar Lawrence is to blame because she came up with the plan of Juliet. When Romeo came back from Mantua he found Juliet and thought she was dead because she was in the Capulet’s tomb. Romeo then went and bribed the apothecary for poison. “Juliet, I come! this do I drink to thee.”(4.4.58)
When juliet woke up she saw Romeo lying the dead and she decided to kill herself since her only love was no longer alive. As you can see Friar Lawrence actions are to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliets death. without him realizing it, he ended up killing them by thinking he was giving them good advice when he was truly not and making them choose the wrong
