There are several people that could be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet however, Friar Lawrence is the one who is truly to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths. He is most to blame out of all people for many obvious reasons.Friar Lawrence is most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he was the one who married the two lovers even though they weren't suppose to be married, gave Juliet this deadly potion, and he feels so guilty at the end which means he knows he's to blame. He was the one who married the two, hoping that the marriage would cause an end to the feuding. Romeo and Juliet getting married was banned and wouldn't be able to take place without Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence stupidly chose to marry Romeo and Juliet even though he knew that it would cause issues in the future. The Friar says in the beginning of the story "this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households' rancor to pure love." (II iv 91-92) This shows that the Friar has doubts and only has a small bit of hope that Romeo and Juliet's marriage will actually be successful. As the story goes on, the friar starts to give hints towards him regretting on having the wedding. He is clearly having second thoughts when he says …show more content…
Friar Lawrence should have done anything possible in order to bring Juliet out of the crypt. However, all he did was leave the crypt and let Juliet kill herself so that he could leave the scene and wouldn't be the one to blame. Even the prince in the final scene of the play says, "We still have known thee for a holy man". This means that everyone has known Friar Lawrence as a holy man, but he has made such terrible suggestions to Romeo and Juliet which caused the deaths of
Friar Laurence is most responsible for the deaths of Romeo & Juliet because he married them when he knew that their love was dangerous and created a horrible plan for them. Friar Laurence is the most responsible to blame
Because of this sloppy decision, Romeo ended up killing himself because he thought that Juliet was dead. Lastly, Friar Lawrence feels guilty for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. At the play's end, the Capulets, Montagues, and Prince Escalis arrive at the tomb where Juliet and Romeo lie dead. This is the point where Friar Lawrence finally recalls all of his impactful mistakes and realizes that this is his fault. He addresses the forming crowd of people by saying, “I am the greatest, able to do least, Yet most suspected as the time and place, Doth make against me of this direful murder, And here I stand both to
There are many people in “ Romeo and Juliet” who attributed to their deaths First, friar Lawrence was the mastermind who made all the plans, but didn’t work, the second person was Juliet because she made wrong choices, the third person was Lord Capulet by making Juliet make mistakes. Therefore Friar Lawrence, Juliet, and Lord Capulet all attributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
There are many to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Out of all them Friar Lawrence is the one I chose because, first the advice he gave them throughout the tragic love story wasn’t fairly well, secondly how he pushed them in the wrong direction, and lastly the poison he gave them. Friar Lawrence isn 't the only one to blame, but he is the one who they 've communicated with the most. This is why I chose Friar Lawrence to blame. Friar Lawrence has given Romeo and Juliet advice for a while now and most of it was not good.
Friar Lawrence is to blame for this reason because when he was going to send the letter to Romeo telling him about the potion and telling Romeo that Juliet actually isn’t dead. He should have told his messenger that it was very important and needed to be there immediately. Instead the messenger missed Romeo because he was to late, and Romeo was already on his way to kill himself. I also think that Friar Lawrence should have delivered the message personally, then he could have told Romeo what the plan was and how Juliet is actually still alive. I also think that matters should have been dealt with differently and personally.
The key reason that Friar Lawrence is at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet is because he was the priest that married the young couple, and kept their unbreakable love a secret. They came to the priest asking for a life together and pure serenity, in which resulted in a catastrophic death. To support my claim, Friar Lawrence is the primary target because of the secrets he kept from everyone. Friar lawrence should have never agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet.
Friar Lawrence was the wise adviser to Romeo and Juliet. He kept their secret and helped them be together. He was the one who married the two, hoping that the marriage would cause an end. To the fending He was the one who came with the idea of giving Juliet the potion to put her in a come state for 42 hours. He wrote a letter to Rome, but it never came to him because of the plague.
Other than Romeo, Juliet is also to blame for their death. If Juliet didn’t just think through the plan the outcome could have been better. Instead of threatening to kill herself to Friar Lawrence he wouldn’t have come up with the plan to bury her and send a letter to Romeo. Because
The Friar is most to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths because he was involved in many of the events that went wrong leading to their deaths.(Thesis) First of all it was the Friar idea for Juliet to fake her death in the first place. He could have just told Juliet to go to Mantua and be with Romeo without having a complicated plan that would go wrong. The Friar said “Take thou this vial, being in bed and this distilling liquor drink thou off”(Iv.i.93).
The marriage couldn’t have happened without Friar Laurence. Also readers might think that Friar was selfish by just wanting to end the family conflict by marrying them. You may ask why? Because Friar wouldn’t be directly involved and he wouldn’t see the consequences that Romeo and Juliet would see. Also for his far fetched plan to get them back together.
Friar Lawrence was the one to blame throughout the entire story. Although Friar Lawrence was just trying to help throughout the whole story, he was just causing problems that led to Romeo and Juliets death. The one problem was just miscommunication between Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Romeo. “Who bar my letter, then, to Romeo?”(S.S, pg. 470).
Imagine a trusted counselor who betrays others by giving terrible advice. In Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, a similar situation occurs among Friar Lawrence, Romeo, and Juliet. The opposition believes that Friar Lawrence would not be responsible and it would be Romeo and Juliet’s fault due to do the several years of the hatred toward the two families. After analyzing all the information, it is Friar Lawrence’s fault for the death and Romeo and Juliet because the Friar constantly left out valuable information that he is supposed to tell Romeo or Juliet.
The end of this story isn’t pretty, so whose fault was it? Friar Lawrence is the character most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet because he was the character who assisted throughout the entire situation that Romeo and Juliet had. He agreed to marry the young lovers even though he was aware that their families were feuding, and he aided in Romeo and Juliet
Friar Lawrence should have taken charge of the situation and instead of trying to cover up and hide his mistake, he should have confronted it head on. Furthermore, the Friar would have never been in this situation if he had convinced Romeo and Juliet to wait and come out with their feelings for each other. Of all people he should know from his scholarly studies that lies just lead to a path of misery. In a whole, Friar Lawrence made the mistake of not sticking to his more traditional roots to explain to Romeo and Juliet their irrational love. Maybe if he did it would have resulted in saving both of their
I think that Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Lord Capulet are to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is the pastor that marries Romeo and Juliet. He plays the role of a person that Romeo and Juliet can confide in. He is not on either side, the Montagues, nor the Capulets. Friar John is Laurence’s brother, who doesn’t play much of a role in till the end of the story.
