Leadership is an essential component to ensure the achievement of an organization. There are many concepts related leadership is created by the researchers to explain the leadership. However, there is no specific theories or model can perfectly describe the leadership as the concept towards leadership keep on changing over the time. The followers who have high readiness (R3) can be led by this style. High readiness followers usually are competent with skill, but they are unwilling to perform (Daft, 2011). This is because of they are still unconfident about their ability and need some degree of direction from the leader. Therefore, this style can facilitate the followers to perform better and gain support from them. The last quadrant (R4) refer to the delegating or the style 4 (S4). Delegating style only provided little support and direction to the followers. The leaders leaved the followers to make their own decision on completing the task. Abstract The aim of this paper is to study how to mitigate and avoid the perils of hubristic leadership in an organization by using risk management concept. The objective of this study is to identify the main factors that influence the hubris leadership and how the perils of hubris leadership might be mitigate and avoid by using risk management concept. Finally, the main factors that influence the hubris leadership is such like excessive self-confidence, self-importance, egotism, an incentive and abrasive, aloofness or arrogance, betrayal of personal trust and overdependence on a mentor and risk control has been used to minimizing the risk of the loss in hubris leadership by using techniques of risk avoidance and risk reduction. The concepts advanced, and implications discussed, provide an insight into the role of leader in reducing hubris and this paper suggest that future research should attempt to examine other factors that may influence the hubris leadership.

Among other things, it predicts that directive leadership is effective with ambiguous tasks, that supportive leadership is effective with repetitive tasks, that participative leadership is effective when tasks are unclear and subordinates are autonomous, and that achievement-oriented leadership is effective for challenging tasks. By taking the Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire, I know that which way suit me to lead my followers. In my case, I score 27 in participative, which is the highest of four options. As a participative leader, I do reference the suggestions from the followers for making decisions sometimes but not always. Sometimes the leaders’ behaviors depend on the characteristic of the subordinates and tasks.
