The content of the course has proven to be invaluable, insightful and thoughtful. But by its very nature, innovation is disruptive because it is moving away from what is, to what can be, to what will be. Disruption also known as change is certainly uncomfortable. It’s the enemy of the ordinary; leaders bear the burden of ensuring things change in a positive direction.
My understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of the course content has validated. As a future health care administrator, I have come to realization that our health care system is ever-changing and I must adapt to these changes if I am to be successful. As an administrator, I will need to implement value and clinician engagement strategies to optimize clinical outcomes and provide care as efficiently as possible.
It is important for us in leadership positions to align management and staff alike with the core competencies that are standard across the board to better cope with the vision, mission and values of the hospital. Hospitals are using big data to succeed. Analytical tools and applications are being built to help physicians, patients, and other healthcare stakeholders to identify value and opportunities.
Health informatics is an evolving specialization that links information technology, communications and healthcare to improve the quality and safety of patient care.Clinicians are discovering that debating proven practices and using data to select the most successful processes are enhancing patient outcomes. Continuous improvement can be rewarding and fun; data and a willingness to discover tested practices that work best will be required. When clinicians work together, they can agree on what quality is and start measuring their performance through competencies in healthcare that are not prevalent in the forefront, but it revolves around accountability, and
