The content of the course has proven to be invaluable, insightful and thoughtful. But by its very nature, innovation is disruptive because it is moving away from what is, to what can be, to what will be. Disruption also known as change is certainly uncomfortable. It’s the enemy of the ordinary; leaders bear the burden of ensuring things change in a positive direction.
My understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of the course content has validated. As a future health care administrator, I have come to realization that our health care system is ever-changing and I must adapt to these changes if I am to be successful. The need for understanding current policies, laws and regulations will allow me to plan out my approach in the services that

As an administrator, I will need to implement value and clinician engagement strategies to optimize clinical outcomes and provide care as efficiently as possible.
It is important for us in leadership positions to align management and staff alike with the core competencies that are standard across the board to better cope with the vision, mission and values of the hospital. Hospitals are using big data to succeed. Analytical tools and applications are being built to help physicians, patients, and other healthcare stakeholders to identify value and opportunities.
Health informatics is an evolving specialization that links information technology, communications and healthcare to improve the quality and safety of patient care.Clinicians are discovering that debating proven practices and using data to select the most successful processes are enhancing patient outcomes. Continuous improvement can be rewarding and fun; data and a willingness to discover tested practices that work best will be required. When clinicians work together, they can agree on what quality is and start measuring their performance through competencies in healthcare that are not prevalent in the forefront, but it revolves around accountability, and
The CEO at VHC must know all the stakeholders involved or influenced with the organization. The leader must keep everyone engaged with the organization’s mission which must include all top executives such as Board of Directors, owner, VP, CFO, MD CIO, CO, Health Services Administrator, Medical Director, Site manager, Office managers, and the staff such as Registrars, Admissions, Scheduling, Billing, Physicians and nurses. It is important to remain sensitive to the impact of the decisions made at the organization on all stakeholders. CEO needs to be honest and forthright with information and have open, transparent communications keeping each patient and each employee, including all stakeholders, fully informed about everything that affects them. It is the responsibility of the hospital health system leaders to embrace higher quality and lower costs as institutional aims, to foster a culture that prioritizes high-value care, to determine a path forward, and to steward and sustain the
There are distinct advantage to embracing Health IT. Fully integrated EHRs enable rapid adaptation away from a volume-based care delivery model toward an alternative quality-based model. Tracking and improving quality of care with key performance indicators is essential to meet HHS and consumer expectation. Providers and clinicians participating in the CMS Shared Savings Program will find access to clinical intelligence enables efficient reporting and performance monitoring.
I would like to study an HNC in Care & Administrative Practice because I feel that this course gives me the best route into the NHS, and where I aspire to take my career. I have looked at many courses, with the content, structure, and placement opportunities that come with this course, I am sure this is the one for me. I’ve had a strong interest in the healthcare since starting secondary school. As I became more involved in current affairs and politics, health has always been a big issue. As the Health & Social Care industries become one in Scotland, I believe that now is a very exciting time to get on board.
The theory of evidence based practice is not only an approach that targets for quality of patients but also highly improves the level of accountability in the health care sector by promoting a life-time learning process. Evidence based practice addresses the compulsory need for quality research evidence and quality practice all in struggle to support the care of a patient. Below is a brief description of the five models of evidence based practice(“ LibGuides at Oregon Health & Science University,” n.d.). Ask: Get some information about the consideration of people, groups, or populaces. Acquire: Secure the best accessible proof with respect to the inquiry.
This includes creating, managing and following patient data. The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) defines information governance as “an organization wide framework for managing information throughout its lifecycle and for supporting the organization’s strategy, operations, regulatory, legal, risk, and environmental requirements.” In today’s healthcare system, it is more important than ever to know and understand how healthcare information is created, transferred and used. Due to the development of systems such as electronic health records and clinical decision support systems it is important that health information maintains its reliability and validity throughout its
Moreover, the American Health Information Management Association exhibits their unique attributes to the health care community by assuming leadership roles in informatics, data analytics, information governance, and consumer education, while creating health intelligence that used to lower costs and improve patient care (AHIMA.org, 2017). Equally important are the organizational alliances that support the goals and functions of the AHIMA. In recent view of the organization’s background, the linkage with other organizations such as 3M, GeBBS, MRO, Oxford HIM, AHIOS, AHRQ, and CDC/ National Center for Health Statistics has aided in the success of AHIMA becoming the prime leader in the health care delivery cycle. Furthermore, these organizational alliances equally benefited from this linkage by sharing research, education, and effective marketing
Health care is a term that describes a broad range of services. Members of a health care team range from family members to neurosurgeons, but each member of a patient’s health care team plays a critical role in optimizing patient care. Therefore, it is important to recognize and appreciate all the players in the medical field and their contributions to health care. I was drawn to the medical field because of my love of science and endless curiosity. However, it was not until high school that I narrowed my science passion down to human science.
Nurse leaders have the opportunity to lead the current and future generation of health care providers towards the new direction of our health care delivery system, one where informatics and analytics are the foundation to which the future of health care is based. Where the ability to digest and interpret data is key. Where disease prevention and health education and maintenance is
You are tasked with developing a policy to address higher education for healthcare providers, what steps would you take to complete this request, and how you would ensure that diversity and inclusion were a part of this process? Discuss how modern medicine
One of the most important actions that a student can take, is to be honest, and self-reflective, about the level of understanding achieved after completing any course within his/her education career. From my personal view, I feel that this class provided me with a great introduction to the MHA program, and is setting me up for successful in this educational program; but with that being said I would not pretend that I was able to assimilate every concept that was presented in this course, I would definitely need to continue to review the material in this course and on the MHA program overall, so that I could be a knowledgeable, and effective Health Care Manager. When it comes to my ability to discuss the different learning outcomes, I have to say that I definitely acquired a much deeper understanding of the material presented in this course. The materials were not difficult concepts to understand, but sometimes the way the material was delivered made it a difficult task just to read through the information, but as I would imagine, we are trying to achieve an education at a much higher level, which requires the processing and understanding of much more complex information, that sometimes will be
My goals for this course is to gain a better understanding regarding health care initiatives and health promotion. Take the practical information, tools and incorporate into everyday practice. Since I have been working associate degree nurse (ADN) for 21 years. The topic for my first paper was "Why BSN are better nurses than ADN nurse" my first thought is their not. I took away after research that ADN focuses more on the task at hand and BSN have a better understanding of theory and
In today’s new generation and growing society, the healthcare field is constantly facing new changes to be effective and influential in our community. Technological advances in my healthcare organization has rapidly increased in the last year. A few of the listed updates in this week’s course material has already been implemented in my workplace and would be astonishing to include a few more that were mentioned. These significant changes has added an increase in patient safety, patient and staff satisfaction, effective communication, and improved patient outcomes (Cleveland Clinic, 2014). These improvements has helped nurses significantly with using evidenced based practice, when providing care.

5. As healthcare leaders we model collaboration with patients and families by establishing open communication between the patient, family, and healthcare providers and listening to their insights and opinions in order to better plan and deliver care that will optimize patient outcomes and experience. We involve them in policy development and clinical decision making, share knowledge and authority with them, and establish mutual trust and
Disruptive innovation describes a process by which a product or service takes root initially in simple applications at the bottom of a market and then relentlessly moves up market, eventually displacing established competitors. Most companies pursue innovations that will help them sustain the higher tiers of their markets, most
